SportsRe: Barca: 'Basa' Or 'Baka'? by nedujizzy(m): 3:22pm On Dec 12, 2008
@Jarus
What's the correct pronunciation of the word 'Barca'? Is it pronunced as 'Basa' or 'Baka'?
I used to pronounce it 'Baka' before I went to the North to serve and I saw these Hausas calling it 'Basa'. I was about making jest of them, that these abokis no sabi call pronounce anything well. But a friend corrected me that that's the correct pronunciation. Subsequently, I have always listened attentively to spanish commentaries when Barca is playing and I have heard the word pronounced as 'Basa' several times.
So is it safe to conclude that the pronunciation 'Baka' is wrong?
If that's true, then for the first time, I'm seeing Hausa pronouncing something more correctly than the Yorubas.
The wrong pronunciation has been a major misconception among ''Barca" fans and non fans alike,you are absolutely right the correct one is ''Basa''.

Honestly, i don't really dig the mamas at all. It wasnt a true reflection of what Africans can do and achieve in terms of music and celebrity status. I see Mtv africa as a whipping boy for storm records and the ikoyi musicians such as Naeto c, Ikechukwu and Shasa. Real Nigerian Musicans especially in Fuji, Juju, afro-jazz in the form of lagbaja and jeje or highlifers like kween should be the focus of Niger music and other african genre's of music should have been fully exploited.

Although 9ice, dbanj and Asa represented 3 genre's of African music that can be wll appreciated but you can't tell me that Ikechukwu is a better African musician than Femi Kuti or Naeto C has more mass appeal than Pasuma!

Everything was staged to suit the ikoyi boys and not really the real Naija african musicians. I remember when musicians like angela kidjo, yussouf n'dour, nene cherry, mariam makeba and the likes used to make African music proud. The world will only respect African music if we push our brand out more, not listening to shasha who is a fake hip hop wannabe!

Take for example, the mtv asia awards? How many awards do you see going to asia hip hop or R&b? Because those ones pushed to have their genre of music exhibited more than the urban hip hop and rap!

Even an Artist like lord of ajasa would be more respected as an African hip hop artist than a Naeto C.

And how horrible is Africa that we have to import Trevor Nelson from the UK to come ad host an African Award broadcasted to Africans in Cockney English?
I can forgive the kenyan and the SA ''Naija haters'' But you seem to be an in-house traitor,better eat your words and go  back to sleep because you seem to be sleep-talking,its Sasha not Shasa neither is it shasha.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United (2) Vs Aab (2): Live by nedujizzy(m): 2:16pm On Dec 10, 2008
@cristalz
Manchester United host Aab at Old Trafford Wednesday night, 19.45 GMT, thats 8.45pm Nigerian time.

Ferguson has already hinted he will make changes for the Old Trafford encounter in a bid to ensure the United side that faces Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Saturday is fresh and raring to go.

Ferguson is free to make changes as the Red Devils have already booked their place in the knockout phase, while Aalborg know they will be in the UEFA Cup when the European campaigns begin again in February.

Who wins the group - and gets a top seeding among the last 16 - is still to be decided, with United needing to match Villarreal's result against Celtic at Parkhead to edge it.

Since the pressure to win tomorrow night is not huge, and Sir Alex has hinted at making changes, I expect to see some regular first team starters rested.
Nice job

Dude, do you have issues with Nigerians?, what point are you trying to make.
Music/RadioRe: Mtv Africa Was Not African by nedujizzy(m): 2:10pm On Dec 04, 2008
@ debosky
Interesting viewpoint - my question is what is 'African'? Why is R&B not African?

I'm not sure I agree with you that everyone was 'aping' Americans - how is someone like 9ice aping Americans?

Wasn't some of this R&B and other forms of music influenced by African slaves? What is wrong with current day Africans getting influenced by what was created, in essence, by their forefathers?

I don't believe until you sing a song and prance around in raffia skirts and beat drums with your hand that you can be considered as being 'African'.

The Fact that Enyimba remains the best team in Nigeria is not in doubt,but they havent stepped up their game as we saw when they won the CAF champions league back to back, with the enthusiasm displayed by the Imo state government with regards to Heartland, I see them going places,

SportsRe: Heartland Fc Fans: Let's Go There! by nedujizzy(m): 11:17am On Nov 29, 2008
@Andy1985ng
Second on goal difference is what keeps us from the top. This weekend will look to solve that. The team has a good depth and fluidity but I feel that's because the pitch in Orlu favours that. Beating Nassarawa Utd 3:0 was because the team played fast counter-attacking against the home team, something they rarely do. We can do it this Year. Up Heartland united!!!
Heart land is on top now after beating Bayelsa united in Orlu, And have you seen any game at the Orlu pitch, whats the nature of the pitch? i hope its good.

My brother, I'm very sorry for you:
1)  None of the denominations is a Naija currency.
2)  From your tone, you never crossed river naija.
3)  Where did you get credit card for hard currency transaction. etc.
4)  The background is a television background.

The joke there is that he wish he lives the villa.
Your observation on the fictitious scenario created by the poster is accurate except on the part of crossing the river naija and wanting to leave the villa. The post was intended to be a joke, but i guess it was poorly articulated,am outta here.

I recommend House, first and second season of Prison Break, Heroes. Steer clear of Lost because they really were lost and so you'll be.
i've seen prison break, from the first season to the episode where the scorfield brothers went to a jail in south america, prison break was cool but as it progressed it became unrealistic and boring,anyways i 'd still like to know what happened during their ordeal in the south american prison.

if 4400 doesnt send you to sleep, get an exorcist. together with Lost, they make the best cure for insomniacs.
well, i was carried away by the concept,after watching the complete first season,i think its not as smashing as i had anticipated. The guy i met in the DVD shop told me that i was going to like it,but now i know better, dude, which series do you think is worth watching now.

I just hope you Heart land fans are not as heartless as the Eyimba fans.

I am of the opinion that the stadium should be banned for 5years and when it is opened the fans should not be allowed to watch matches for a very long time like 10years.

How come people turned to monster because of football, that man is somebody's father, a son , husband etc.

I cried like a baby when i saw that clip.
i used to be a very big fan of enyimba but after that event, am begginning to doubt my loyalty

the problem isnt starting a HEARTLAND F.C. zone,but to maintain it, its cool that there are people who still come down to the home level,it shouldnt be about,chelsea and arsenal all the time, am an indigene of Imo state and i really wish d club best of luck next season,its really going to be hard but by d grace of God,we will hit Africa in grand style, its quite unfortunate that right now the club dosent have a website,it would have been better if that was available,so that vital infos about the club can be obtained, right now i dont even know 99.9 percent of players in the team, i hope someone can get the message across to the management of the club on the need to have a website, One love to all of you guys.

After the incident of last sunday when Enyimba supporters attacked the referees of the game against Heartland, i think the Aba stadium should be closed till the end of the season to serve as a deterant to other clubs who would want to perpetuate such act, am a fan of enyimba but i wont accept such nonesense.
