Politics / Re: What Happened To Tinapa? by nejifresh(m): 8:54am On Sep 04, 2013
Most of the posts here are from folks who have no clue about what's happening. Tinapa is not dead, its rather beginning to blossom. Lots and lots of events and programmes are currently being held there. An example is the newly commissioned Tinapa Knowledge City- A world class software development and training hub. I participated in that event last month. Its run by the FG in partnership with Cross River State Govt. I think a replica of such a scheme is in Yaba. http://leadership.ng/news/110813/fg-launches-tinapa-idea-incubation-centre, http://www.humanipo.com/news/7639/tinapa-knowledge-city-hosts-hackathon/

Also the Nollywood studio/Media City in tinapa is now hosting MO Abudu's Ebony Life TV. I cant remember the exact channel on DSTV, but the broadcasts are from tinapa.

Last week you had the NBA conference held there. I hear almost 10,000 participants graced the event. Finally for about 4 months now the lakeside hotel has been fully booked on a week to week basis. A friend who works there says they've been recording a turnover of almost N99,000,000 for the past 2 months. This doesn't seem like a dead place to me.

Phones / Apple Stole The Design For Ipad - SAMSUNG by nejifresh(m): 11:37am On Aug 16, 2012
We’re starting to see a theme develop here. Now that it’s Samsung’s (005930) turn to present its case in the San Jose, California patent trial that regularly has the tech media abuzz, the company is taking an interesting approach. Rather than start out by arguing that its various Android smartphones and tablets do not copy Apple’s (AAPL) designs or infringe on its patents, Samsung is arguing that Apple’s IP is invalid to begin with. On Monday, Samsung argued that Apple’s pinch-to-zoom patent was stolen from Mitsubishi’s old Diamond Touch and on Tuesday evening, Samsung made a similar argument regarding the design of Apple’s iPad.

Samsung on Tuesday presented the jury with videotaped testimony from Roger Fidler, head of the digital publishing program at the University of Missouri. In his testimony, Fidler stated that he began work on a tablet design in 1981, Bloomberg reported. “Apple personnel were exposed to my tablet ideas and prototypes,” he testified, adding that Apple staff saw his designs in the mid-1990s.

“My original assumptions were that it would be a touchscreen without a stylus,” Fidler testified. His tablet design would be used to build a working model in 1994, which featured rounded corners and a flat touchscreen.

Samsung’s claims that Apple employees were exposed to Fidler’s tablet more than a decade before the company launched the iPad in 2010 is a serious allegation. The company is trying to show that Apple’s protected tablet designs, which the company claims are being copied by Samsung in devices like the Galaxy Tab 10.1, are in fact invalid because Apple itself stole them from prior designs.

The Apple v. Samsung trial in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California (San Jose) is expected to conclude toward the end of August.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Happy 51st Birthday To Barack Obama by nejifresh(m): 8:03pm On Aug 04, 2012
A study from Ancestry.com has determined that President Obama is related to John Punch, the first black African enslaved for life in America--which would make Punch the 11th great-grandfather of Obama.
The connection is made through Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunhan. The website's records say she had ancestors who were white landowners in Colonial Virginia who descended from an African man, Punch.
According to the site's press release, Punch tried to escape indentured servitude in colonial Virginia in 1640 and was punished by becoming enslaved for life. The records show that Punch had children with a white woman, and her status as free was passed on to her offspring. Punch's descendents became successful landowners in the slave-owning state of Virginia.

This would mean that the first documented slave and the first African American president have a shared lineage, claim researchers. Said Ancestry.com's genealogist Joseph Shumway, "John Punch was more than likely the genesis of legalized slavery in America. But after centuries of suffering, the Civil War, and decades of civil rights efforts, his 11th great-grandson became the leader of the free world and the ultimate realization of the American Dream."
Genealogists seem to be fascinated with the current president's family tree: The site has also traced an Irish branch of Obama's family. And researchers at the New England Historic Genealogical Society claim he is the distant cousin of movie star Brad Pitt and six past presidents, including George W. Bush.

Music/Radio / Re: Illegal Music II Vs Occupy The Throne by nejifresh(m): 2:41pm On Jul 01, 2012
Wordsmith: Illegal Music II was a piss poor sequel to Illegal Music I and a sore dissapointment. God, i couldn't the number of times i had to skip tracks. The sampling was shabbily done compared to the previous mixtape, MI now sounds complacent with his flow and delivery, it was like there was a missing component.

Arguably the best song - Export; had Yung 6ix sonning MI on the track.

Only teenyboppers would enjoy IM2, serious heads would dislike this mixtape.

I have not heard OTT but i hope it is what i've heard it is. By the way, Sauce Kid's Da Ripoff still tops has Naija's best mixtape.

Dude you must be one of them biased haters who dont know shit about hip hop. Kids like you only rate MC's based on how crappy they spit. No disrespect to MODE, but he aint in the same league with MI. its like comparing KRS 1 to PAC.

Romance / His Fiancee Confessed To Cheating On Him. by nejifresh(m): 6:51pm On Oct 10, 2011
Hello Peeps,

I have a delicate situation am trying to settle concerning two parties who happen to be mutual friends of mine. Tonye and Lisa (Real names withheld). Both have been dating for more than a year now and got engaged in march. Preparations are currently underway for their introduction and traditional wedding, with the white wedding coming up by next year's december. Everything seemed fine until last nite when Lisa confessed to Tonye that she had sex with another man the nite before.

The thing is, Tonye is based in naija, while Lisa is currently living in Canada, and the duo are making preparations for him to join her next year. Tonye is a business exec and has flown Lisa to naija twice this year, they just spent the past 3 months together. Lisa left in September and they have steadily been in touch.

According to Tonye, Lisa called him last nite and confessed her act of infidelity, she says she doesnt know why she did it, but she was missing him and she needed solace etc etc.
Tonye says this has happened before about a year ago when they recently started dating, and he forgave her then, while she swore never to cheat again. Right now he is torn in between forgiving her again and possibly risking another episode in marriage OR calling off the engagement. What advice could you give on this matter?

Business / Re: CBN Imposes Limits, Penalty On Cash Transactions, Again! by nejifresh(m): 9:31am On May 01, 2011
Sometimes i wonder if these leaders realize the dangers posed by hackers and other IT security concerns before making such policies. Recently Sony(ALMIGHTY JAPAN) Playstation Network was hacked and millions of credit card details stolen. I shiver when i imagine what would happen when some nerd breaks into the bank servers (Which are in fact NOT TOO SECURE). God help us with this one.
