A Nigerian senior Army officer, Brigadier General O. A. James, has been killed by a drunk Army Corporal.

Brigadier General O.A James was the Director of Finance at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) in Lagos state.

He was confirmed dead on Tuesday night after a drunk corporal, by name of Abayomi Ebun, knocked him down with a Camry car.

Brigadier General O.A James was on his way walking to his residence inside the barracks when the accident occurred.

The late General O.A James was rushed to the NAFRC Medical Centre, where he was confirmed and pronounced dead.

The corporal is in the custody of the Nigerian Army, where he’s being held by provost marshals. The Army is yet to react.

James, a member of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps and Meritorious Service Star (MSS) awardee, obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting.

He was an Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) fellow and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered Institute of Taxation (ACTI), and National Institute (mni).

This is to inform the general public that the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board JAMB, has released the pattern of dress code to be worn before visiting any JAMB-accredited center for UTME registration.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued strict Advisories on the application of henna, otherwise called “Laali”/”Lale” and the appropriate dress code ahead of the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to a statement made available to JAMB Bulletin, candidates are warned against applying henna to avoid experiencing biometric verification challenges.

The statement revealed that henna when applied on the fingers obstructs the smooth biometric verification of the candidate's fingers.

Also in an attempt by candidates to dean their fancy henna drawings, they used chemicals that damaged the whorls on their fingers, hence making biometric verification and authentication difficult.

The Board reiterated its position of the “No Biometrics, No Examination” rule and urged candidates to desist from any act that could jeopardize their chances of taking.

On indecent dressing, the Board warned candidates against indecent dressing, which in some cases, has constituted a major distraction to candidates, embarrassing even the candidates wearing such dresses as others pass offensive glances at them thereby destabilizing their comportment for the examination.

In some cases, it has been used to aid and abet examination malpractices The Board views such improper dressing as a serious breach of UTME ethics adding that provocative and seductive dressing as well as willful and deliberate exposure of one’s body to the public would no longer be condoned as they are capable of causing a distraction to candidates and examination officials alike.

The statement listed indecent dressing to include, but not limited to, sleeveless tops, body hugs, knickers, transparent clothes, canopy head ties, bogus fashion jewelry, spaghetti tops, and Off-shoulders, among others.

The Board reiterated that pencils are allowed into the examination hall for UTME.

Confusion takes place in the palace as Gunmen in massive numbers, on Monday morning invaded the Obudi Agwa community in Oguta LGA of Imo State and killed the monarch of the community and his two guests.

THE former governor of Anambra State and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, for the 2023 election, Mr Peter Obi has explained that he saved money for the state during his tenure in office in order to make things easy for his successor.

Obi, who spoke through his media adviser, Mr. Val Obienyem said the money saved was for smooth functioning of the state and to assist in the payment of workers’ salaries for at least two years.

Obi said:
“I saved N48,629,473,469 in local currency, some of which we tied to specific projects like payment of two-year salary of civil servants we employed for him not to be encumbered. There was also money set aside for Agulu and Onitsha Hotels, the Awka and Nnewi Malls and some critical roads, like the completion of the dual carriage road over which we had got permission from the federal government to do and to be paid back by the Federal Government. We also left some for him to continue what we were doing aggressively.

” There was also US$156 million (about N27 billion at that time and about N75 billion today when the yields are added). After our study of the Chinese phenomenal achievements as we were coming to the end of MDGs, we learned that the Chinese Regional governments were able to attract a number of investments because of the ability to contribute or partner with the investors in setting up productive facilities within their regions.

For example, some of them effectively made equity contributions of 10-20%, which they were able to achieve due to their robust savings.

“So, our calculation was that if the state would be able to save a particular amount (US$18-20 million) as we did in eight years, up until 2030 at the average interest rate of a little of over 6%, we would be able to achieve about a billion dollar in savings and earnings.

We would then use about 50 percent of this amount to attract investments, considering that the average Chinese Small and Medium Scale Enterprise(SME), for example, was set up with about two million dollars.

“Our goal was that if we would be able to invest 25 percent in each enterprise, which is $500,000, we would be able to achieve 1000 SMEs facilities scattered all over Anambra State, which would jump-start aggressive economic growth within the state, especially as income from oil is coming to an end.”

Notorious and dreaded unknown Gunmen suspected to be arm robbers, on Thursday evening, attacked a bullion van in Ufuma, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.


An eyewitness who spoke to DAILY POST said the bullion van was conveying cash to an undisclosed location when the gunmen trailed them to the agrarian community of Lafuma.


The suspected arm robbers opened fire on the bullion van, and the security personnel accompanying it.


“It happened at about 5 pm today (Thursday), and there was heavy and scary shooting in the area.


“All the residents of the community fled, while security operatives attached to the bullion van battled the armed robbers.


The police were able to stop them from succeeding,” the source said.


Meanwhile, the State Police command has confirmed the incident.


Spokesperson of the command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said the event happened at about 4 pm, but the armed men were eventually repelled.


He said: “Operatives attached to the bullion van gallantly repelled the attack. The incident happens at about 4 pm in Umunebo junction, Lafuma.


“The Commissioner of police CP Echeng Echeng has since ordered an immediate manhunt on the attackers. The operational vehicles belonging to the armed robbers have been recovered.”


He said a Lexus jeep and a highlander jeep belonging to the robbers have been recovered. Other items recovered are: one empty magazine, defaced bulletproof vest, charms, and some incriminating items.

23-Years old Mary Fulu hanged herself after her boyfriend dumped her for another lady on November 2, 2022.

A report has it that a young beautiful lady has committed suicide after being dumped by her long-time boyfriend.

The 24-year-old lady simply identified as Mary Fulu from Lilongwe, Malawi hanged herself on November 2, 2022.

It was gathered that her boyfriend had dumped her for another lady.

The spokesperson of Kanengo Police Station, Gresham Ngwira, who confirmed the incident last week, said Mary became depressed after her boyfriend reportedly terminated their relationship.

“The woman had been going to Bwaila Hospital for treatment and counseling. However, this morning she died by suicide.

She silently went into the boy's quarter and hanged herself,” reads part of the police report.

However, sources close to her family said the boyfriend identified simply as Neil, from Blantyre, ended their relationship after he impregnated another woman.

On the day she took her own life, Mary tweeted: “We were good for each other”

She also retweeted posts about suicide and depression.

Hoodlums In Abeokuta, Ogun State Set INEC Headquarters Office On Fire

Some notorious boys labeled to be hoodlums, about eight in number have set The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters office in Abeokuta, Ogun States on fire.

Our correspondent learned that the security guard at the facility, Azeez Hamzat, made a distress call to the police around 1 a.m., saying the facility was on fire.

The police from the Ibara division were said to have mobilized detectives to the scene while contacting firefighters, who raced to the scene to put out the fire.

It was gathered that the store, the Registration Area Officer’s office, and the conference room were affected by the inferno.

A source also told our correspondent that non-sensitive materials were also affected by the fire.

“No life was lost and no injury was sustained in the fire,” DAILY POST learned.

Meanwhile, the Ogun INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Niyi Ijalaye, has confirmed the incident, describing it as shocking.

“It is correct that our office was set on fire. The police are investigating. I do not know what to say. I’m in shock myself. We called the police and other security agencies at night. The fire brigade put the situation under control. The level of damage is still being assessed.

“It is very shocking and untoward. Security agencies are doing their very best. We are meeting again later today to come up with other strategies (toward securing our facilities),” Ijalaye said.

The report has it that two students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU) in Umudike, Abia State, were on Saturday morning, November 5, found dead in their room.

The students, identified simply as Victor and Decency, were said to be roommates and were both in 200 levels.

According to a source, “On Friday night, they sent their bike man to buy food for them, which they ate before going to bed.

Corpses of the students identified as Decency and Victor were discovered after their neighbors broke into their room.

They were, sadly, found dead the next day by their lodge mates. Victor vomited blood and Decency had white stuff on their nose.

“We don’t know anything about eating food and the bike man. All we know is that we found two students dead in their rooms, that is we know. I don’t know where you are getting the eating of food and the bike man story; I don’t even have this information.”

Asked if there has been any medical report on the cause of their death, Odefa said;

“The police have taken their bodies to the morgue and anything left is for the parents of the deceased. We have informed the families, so we are not talking about this.”

An Okada man has crushed to death 6 people along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State in an accident that injured six other persons.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the accident happened around the Arepo bus stop at about 1:10 pm.

According to the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, an unregistered Lexus car had rammed into two Bajaj motorcycles with registration numbers, FFF617 QM and LAR489VY.

Okpe told DAILY POST that a total of eight men were involved in the accident.

“Six persons were injured, one person unhurt and unfortunately, one person was killed,” she said.

Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to route violation and also overspeeding, which she said, led to the loss of control on the part of the Lexus car as it rammed into the motorcycles.

She explained that the injured victims were taken to Emergency Hospital, Ojota, and Real Divine Touch Hospital, Ibafo for medical attention, adding the dead body was deposited at Divine Touch Hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, has described the crash as one that could be averted if rules and regulations were properly obeyed.

He also commiserated with the families of the victims, advising motorists to always consider other road users.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has asked about four 2021 Batch C Stream II corpers to repeat serving for allegedly disappearing from service.

Nigerian alleged internet fraudster commonly referred to as YAHOO BOY has killed a commercial sex worker and set the hotel ablaze.

The report has it that, the disheartening incident occurred in a Hotel along Nnebisi road in Asaba, Delta State capital.

A reporter of the Daily Trust gathered that the suspect, who is now at large, also set the hotel ablaze after killing the deceased.

The Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, says the have arrested two suspected ritualist with human flesh.

The suspects identified as Ojo Gbadebo and Babatunde Hamsat, were caught around Oke Ona, a community along Iwaraja/Erimo road at about 9.30am on Thursday, November 3.

She said there was a distress call from Oke Ana, by residents who said they perceived offensive odour from the bush.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on Friday, inaugurated the Electoral Logistics Committee (ELOC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was established in 1998 and is the electoral body which oversees elections in Nigeria.

The Lagos State Police Command on Saturday said the autopsy conducted on the corpse of Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of Davido revealed that he died as a result of drowning.

Confirming this by the Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin through a chat with.

Hundley said, “Autopsy has been concluded. It confirms the boy (Ifeanyi) drowned.”

Reports have it that there were indications that the police might conduct an autopsy to determine whether Ifeanyi died as a result of drowning in a swimming pool at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.

An impeccable source, who confirmed the development, said it was standard practice for the police to conduct an autopsy in such a case, adding, however, that the police would desist from the move if the deceased family members were against it.

“Though the family members are not saying anything yet because they are still in shock but until anybody says stop, the standard procedure is to conduct an autopsy and we are going to follow that procedure just like in any case of death,” the source said.

Explaining further, the source said out of the eight domestic workers interrogated by the police in connection with Ifeanyi’s death, the cook and nanny, whose job was to cater to the wellbeing of the three-year-old boy, had been detained for reasons including the failure to uphold the duty of care of the minor.

As of the time of filing this report, the nanny and cook were said to still be in detention.

TheAcademic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has hit hard as they threaten another National wide strike for October half salaries.

The Union of Universities, ASUU is considering flying back home for another fresh set of the strike.

Things get worse as the Federal Government of Nigeria has breached the agreement they had with the Academic Staff Union of Universities, by paying them half salaries.

This is coming two weeks after the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, called off its eight-month strike.

Recall that the union had called off its eight-month strike on October 14, 2022, after the intervention by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The lecturers under the umbrella of ASUU were on Monday bewildered, following the payment of salary for only 18 working days in October to its members by the Federal Government.

Reported has it that the Nigerian government had insisted on implementing the ‘No Work, No Pay’ policy for the period the university workers were away from their duty posts.

However, the Speaker waded into the imbroglio between the Union and the FG after all negotiations had failed.

Within a few days of his mediation, Gbajabiamila was able to negotiate an acceptable agreement between the duo, with a promise to pay the university workers their withheld salaries for the months they didn’t work.

However, things took a new turn on Thursday when feelers came in that the FG didn’t keep to its word, as ASUU members were paid a half month's salary.

A senior member of the ASUU at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, confirmed this development to DAILY POST under confidence.

He noted that the government only paid half salary for October.

“The much I know, those who have called me said they were paid only for eighteen days for October,” he said.

Another academic staff member added: “Yes, I only received 18 working days' salary, that’s what they paid me; my colleague received the same.”

The UNILAG chapter of the union described the development as “insensitive and disheartening” on its Twitter page.

The UNILAG branch chairperson, Dele Ashiru wrote: “The leadership of the union at the national level has been duly informed about this unfortunate development and they are on top of the issue”.

FG Pays Lectures Half Salaries For October ASUU Chairman Lament

The Academic Staff Union of Universities National President Professor Victor Emmanuel Osodeke has lamented as FG pays half salaries for October.

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Thursday only paid lecturers for 18 working days in October 2022.

Reacting to the disheartening payment, the ASUU National President Professor Victor Emmanuel Osodeke says it is "Shocking".

He further says The Federal Government only paid lecturers of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, for only 18 working days in October.

In other to confirm the authenticity of the payment we gather a few reports from some of the ASUU lecturers who receives the payment.

Some of the lecturers and senior members of ASUU, who spoke to our reports says.

“We were only paid for the days after the strike. I received a half salary. Other members are angry right now, they are blaming the NEC for calling off the strike.”

Another member, who confirmed the development, said, “Yes, it is true, I received half my salary. It seems the government is set to kill unionism in the country but we are ready for them.”

Though the FG is yet to break the silence on the reason for making the half payment.

Recall that ASUU embarked on an industrial eight-month-old strike on the 14th of February and ended the strike on the 14th of October following a court order.

Where all lectures were encouraged to resume back to work by the union on that same day.

The Nigerian police in Niger state has arrested one Musa Rabo, a 45-year-old primary school teacher who has been alleged in raping a 13-year-old primary school girl in Minna, Niger State.

Report has it that Musa Rabo, has been caught in the act of raping a teenager into one of the classes at Umaru Farouk Bahago Primary School in Minna, the state capital.

Musa Rabo, took the advantage of the her where he had carnal knowledge of her and also infected her with hepatitis disease.

On getting home, the victim did not inform her parents of the development for fear of being scolded but Rabo's action was later discovered by her parents.

The matter was reported the next day to the headmaster of the school, the school authorities tried to cover up the case but the parents cried out and insisted on justice. As a first step to affirm her health status, the little girl was taken to the Minna General Hospital for a medical check-up where it was confirmed that she has been infected with hepatitis disease.

After confirming her health status, the case was then reported to the Niger State Police Command for further interrogation.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, wrote;

“On 26/10/2022 at about 1300hrs, one Musa Rabo 45 yrs of Dutsen-Kura, Minna, who is also a teacher at Dr Umar Faruk Primary School, Keteren Gwari, Minna, was arrested based on a report made at ‘A’ Division Minna of an alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old female student of Waziri Primary School, Bosso, Minna.

Maurice Hastings, 69, had his murder conviction overturned on Friday by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office after he was wrongly convicted for the 1983 abduction and killing of Roberta Wydermyer, 30, in the city of Inglewood.

Hastings has maintained his innocence since his arrest.

Existing verified users have 90 days to subscribe to the new Twitter Blue after its launch or they’ll lose their blue checkmarks, according to The Verge.

The current Twitter Blue launched about a year ago and offers subscribers a way to view ad-free articles from some publishers as well as additional customization settings.
