The Tiv Youth Organization (TYO) has criticized the Coalition of Idoma Professionals (CIP) for their demand that President Bola Tinubu dismiss Sen. George Akume from his position as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Led by President General Comr. Andy Aondongu Anzah, the TYO voiced their strong objection to the Coalition’s accusations of ethnic chauvinism, considering them to be both divisive and malicious.

They stressed that the matters concerning political leadership and appointments at both the federal and state levels, which lie at the core of the dispute, are not directly linked to Sen. Akume or his office.

During a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Comr. Anzah stated, “We are dismayed that the Coalition’s demand is infused with divisive tendencies and an attempt to create discord among the state’s inhabitants.”

He further emphasized that while TYO is not against anyone expressing concerns over a perceived injustice, they strongly condemn the personal attacks on the SGF.

The TYO President highlighted the roles of other political figures in the state, pointing out that their positions were not influenced by Sen. Akume.

He noted that Governor Hyacinth Alia, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor all assumed their positions through democratic processes or personal appointments, and thus Sen. Akume cannot be blamed for their appointments.

“The Chief Judge at any level emerges by seniority in the profession as prescribed by their ethics and guidelines. The current Chief Judge of Benue State attained that height on merit, long before Sen. Akume became SGF,” Anzah added.

Comr. Anzah defended Sen. Akume’s appointment as SGF, stating that it was President Tinubu who appointed him, not Akume himself.

Similarly, the TYO said the nomination of Prof. Joseph Utsev as Minister should not be blamed on Sen. Akume as it was the President’s responsibility.

Anzah noted that the nomination process was conducted and forwarded by the state chapters of All Progressives Congress (APC), whose Chairman in Benue State, Hon. Austin Agada, is an Idoma man.

The TYO President expressed strong disapproval of the Coalition’s call for Sen. Akume’s dismissal, labelling it as blatant disdain and hatred towards Akume and the Tiv nation.

He further pointed out that during his tenure as Governor, Sen. Akume consistently supported Idoma individuals in various political roles, not for political gain but for the unity of the Tivs and the Idomas.

Comr. Anzah urged the Coalition to focus on problem-solving initiatives rather than creating discord. He cited several instances where Idoma individuals held key positions at both federal and state levels, and the Tiv community did not raise objections.

He, therefore, called on the Coalition to appreciate the positions their kinsmen still hold, thanks to the President’s graciousness.

“We call on them to desist from sowing seeds of discord between the Tivs and the Idomas for personal interest. Let them lobby for appointments and desist from divisive, ill-timed, and ill-advised outbursts against the President and the SGF,” Comr. Anzah added.

The TYO President further warned the Coalition of Idoma Professionals that their affront is a direct attack on the President and called for them to exhibit decorum in such matters.

The 19-year old candidate in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Mmesoma Ejikeme, accused by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of result forgery has apologised to the examination body for her action.
She read an apology letter in an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee to probe the matter headed by Sada Soli.

She pleaded for leniency as she promised such would not happen again.

She said she had never been involved in examination malpractice all her life.

According to the Nation report, present at the hearing is the JAMB Registrar, Prof Isiaka Oloyede.

A suspected drug addict identified as Samson Sikiru, has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother, a prophetess, in Itanrin Axis of Ijebu Ode in Ogun State.

According to Ogun journalist, Tosin, the 32-year-old suspect strangled his mother to death in the early hours of Sunday, 16th July, 2023.

A distress call was made to Ijebu Rewa Organisation about the sad incident that happened overnight after Samson's younger brother who was on night shift, had gone to work.


According to neighbours, Samson left home for over five years, only for him to return home a month ago.


His mother was said to have made several complaints to neighbours and security operatives about the suspect using hard drugs.

“A neighbour who wants to be anonymous told Ijebu Rewa that Samson rushed to him in the early hours of today (Sunday) saying that the Prophetess (Samson’s Mother) had slumped and died. After the neighbours rushed inside and only for them to realize the mother was strangled to death as evidence of marks were all over her neck and leg, the left hand had broken, there was blood stain mark on Samson’s fingernails. The neighbors held onto him and he started saying he does not know anything and how it happened. It dawns on them that Samson was under the influence of hard drugs to have strangled his own mother to death,” the report says.

“It is indeed a sad day for the people in Itanrin axis of Ijebu-Ode. Samson has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force and the mother's corpse has been deposited at the Morgue for further investigation.”

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested one ThankGod Ekwueme for selling his three children.

The suspect, whose wife is deaf and dumb, sold the 5-year-old for N700,000, 3-year-old for N350,000 and a day old baby for N500,000.

Spokesperson of the command, SP, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, July 13, 2023, said the suspect, was arrested after credible information on his illegal activity.

In an interview with journalists, Ekwueme, said he was intercepted by OSPAC in his community Omerelu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state when he was about selling his newborn baby.

The suspect disclosed that he was handed over to Elele Police Division from where he was transferred to CP Monitoring unit.

Meanwhile, the mother-in-law of Mr. Ekwueme explained to newsmen that before now, the suspect had been lying to her that her grand children died after child bearing.

She said the suspect, Ekwueme, was taking advantage of her daughter (his wife) who is deaf and dumb, to perpetrate the act of selling the wife’s children upon delivery.

The research publication highlights the case of an unidentified 64-year-old smoker who visited his doctor after noticing a change in color and the emergence of a fur-like texture on his tongue, resembling a transformation akin to that of a werewolf.

Doctors diagnosed the man with a condition known as a hairy tongue, which occurs when the filiform papillae on the tongue, small cone-shaped protrusions containing taste buds, enlarge and become discolored due to a buildup of debris and bacteria.

This abnormal coating gives the appearance of hairs, which can grow up to nearly an inch in length if not regularly scraped.

The elongated papillae can act as traps for substances such as bacteria, food particles, and yeast, creating a resemblance to an oral gill net, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The American Academy of Oral Medicine notes that hairy tongue can manifest in various colors, including brown, white, green, or pink, depending on the specific cause and other factors, such as the use of mouthwashes or even consuming certain candies.

The peculiar case of the man from Ohio experiencing green hairs on his tongue adds to the intriguing and diverse manifestations of hairy tongue, shedding light on this rare phenomenon within the realm of oral health.

The ship and its stolen merchandise, bound for Cameroon, were seized by a private security contractor off the Nigerian coast on Friday.

Following the receipt of credible intelligence, a private security contractor engaged by NNPC Ltd., Messrs. Tantita Security Services, intercepted a suspicious vessel with a cargo of crude oil on board on July 7, 2023.

The Vessel, MT TURA II (IMO number: 6620462), owned by a Nigerian registered company, HOLAB MARITIME SERVICES LIMITED with Registration Number RC813311, was heading to Cameroon with the cargo on board when it was apprehended at an offshore location (Latitude: 5.8197194477543235°, Longitude: 4.789002723991871°), with the captain and crew members on board.

The company is owned by Nigerian businessman Henry Coker and other members of his family, according to CAC filings.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the crude oil cargo onboard was illegally sourced from a well jacket offshore Ondo State, Nigeria. There was no valid documentation for the vessel or the crude oil cargo onboard at the time of the arrest.

Further investigation into the activities of the vessel at the NNPC Ltd. command and control centre also revealed that the vessel has been operating in stealth mode for the last twelve (12) years. The last reported location of the vessel was Tin Can Port in July 2011.

Details of this arrest and the outcomes of the investigations were escalated to the appropriate government authorities, upon which it was concluded to destroy the Vessel to serve as a strong warning and deterrent to all those participating in such illegal activities to cease and desist.

Destroying vessels involved in transporting stolen crude oil is of paramount importance as a strong deterrent. The illegal trade of stolen crude oil not only inflicts significant economic losses on Nigeria and legitimate stakeholders in the oil industry but also perpetuates a cycle of corruption, environmental devastation, and social instability.

Prophet who foresaw Jonathan’s defeat releases new prophecies, says Peter Obi ‘ll win 2023 election

Prophet Winner Williams Taras of Christian Revival Church (CRC), Bauchi, Bauchi State has prophesied that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi will emerge as the next President of the country.

Tara’s made the disclosure during an interactive session with journalists on what God revealed to him.

“God has already ordained that Peter Obi will be the President of Nigeria in 2023,” he said.

“I want Nigerians to know that there is a living God, this is the main reason the message of revelation is coming out”

Winner Williams Taras also said that before the 2019 general elections, God revealed to him that the former Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar would not win his reelection bid.

He said that he was able to relay to the former Governor and it came to pass.

The Clergyman added that sometime in 2020, God revealed to him that there will be two years famine in 2021/2022 and that the one of the 2022 will be more severe than that of the 2021and it came to pass.

The Clergyman said that the Easterners are feeling alienated from the country’s presidency saying God is ready to intervene in the situation.

“That was the reason Peter Obi emerged the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 General elections,” he stated.

“Do not feel rejected, God created us together as Nigerians and we must live together as one.

“God is ready to intervene and change the situation through the election of Peter Obi as the next president of the country.

“My message to Nigerians about the 2023 General elections is that, nobody should be deceived by religion or tribe but they should stand on God’s side and I believe that God will see us through without any rancour”

According to him, he prayed fervently in 2014 before the 2015 General elections because of bloodshed at that time and God answered his prayers by making Nigerians to vote for change of government at the federal level.

The Prophet also said that Nigerians have deviated from the way of God thinking that there is another way.

“There is no any other way to God except through the only way He has laid down which is obedience and turning around,” he said.

He advised Nigerians to seek divine direction on who the next President of the country irrespective of ethno-religious sentiments saying the New Year would be a memorable one for the country.
