The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, wednesday said the commission has generated N1.6 billion from fines through its patrol activities between January and November 2016.


Oyeyemi, who acknowledged that FRSC is not a revenue generating agency, added that the money was remitted directly to the consolidated federation account In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, the FRSC boss expressed appreciation to members of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-governmental Affairs for their support in the timely release of its 2016 appropriation.


According to him, the timely release of funds has led to enhanced logistic empowerment for the commission as more patrol vehicles, ambulances and tow trucks were purchased to the operational fleet of the FRSC. Oyeyemi also admitted that the overhead cost for 2016 budget has been fully released, while the capital releases were being effected based on availability of funds He promised to would work hard to ensure improved service delivery in order to restore safety on Nigerian roads.


In his remark, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Tijani Kaura, admonished staff of the FRSC to ensure their personal safety during patrol to avoid being knocked down by reckless drivers.

Crude oil production in Nigeria, including condensates and natural gas liquids, fell by 23.94 million barrels in the second quarter of this year, down from a total of 165.62mb in the preceding quarter to 141.68mb.

According to the latest economic report of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the estimated average price of Nigeria’s reference crude, the Bonny Light, during the review period was $46.44 per barrel.



This, therefore, implies that the country lost about $1.11bn (N3.39tn at the official exchange rate of N305 to one dollar) as a result of its inability to produce as much as it did in the first quarter of this year.



The apex bank in its report stated that Nigeria’s crude oil production was estimated at an average of 1.54 million barrels per day or 141.68 million barrels for the second quarter of 2016.



“This represented a decline of 0.37mbd or 15.4 per cent, relative to 1.82mbd or 165.62 million barrels produced in the first quarter of 2016,” it added.

A trader, Raimotu Jubril, on Friday appealed to an Orile Agege Customary Court to dissolve her 24-year-old marriage to Taiwo for alleged
fetishness.

The Nigerian Football Federation has reacted to claims by
the former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh that he was
quitting as a result of unpaid wages.

The Supreme Court in Abuja has affirmed death sentence
passed on the General Overseer of Christian Praying
Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, popularly called `Rev.
King’, over the brutal killing of a member of the church,
Ann Uzoh.
Delivering the judgment on Friday, Justice Sylvester Nguta,
held that the convict's appeal lacked merit.
The facts of the case could have been lifted from horror
film and the court cannot but resolve all the 12 issues
raised in this appeal against Ezeugo.
This appeal has no merit. The judgment of the Court of
Appeal is hereby affirmed.
The prison sentence that was earlier handed based on the
other five count charge is no longer relevant in view of the
death sentence passed on him.

A mother who woke to her son's screams found him lying in bed with a large python biting down on his head. The boy's mother, Tammy, ripped the three metre snake off her young son's face on Thursday night after the reptile
managed to slither into their Macksville, northern NSW home.

Tyler was asleep on the top of a set of bunk beds when the snake slithered into his sheets and woke him up with a nasty surprise bite.

The snake continued to bite him on the hand before lunging at his face, biting it a number of times before the boy's mother came into the room, the Daily Mail reports.

With the recent controversies in the camp of Psquare, one-
half of the duo, Paul Okoye has spoken on the issue, saying
all is
well.
In this recent interview with Naij, he says people will
always ask for more and expect more from Psquare.
He also spoke on the reason why he set up RudeBoy
Records and the signing of Muno to the label.
Towards the end of the interview, he expressed regret on
not signing some pop acts earlier. When asked to list them,
he mentioned 9ice, Phyno and Kiss Daniel.
He blamed it on the multiple CEOs at Square records and
the indecision at the time hence the reason for floating his
