Chapter 5

We all got to the cafeteria and found Nicole and Shola already waiting for us at the door.

"So how was your first day?", Shola asked.

"Well, it was--"

"It was fine", Becca interrupted. "Enough chitchat. Let's go eat, I'm hungry".
She opened the doors and as we stepped into the cafeteria, the smell of food hit me. I think the song, [i][/i]a whole new world, from the cartoon Aladdin started playing.
We went to where the food was spread out like a buffet. Ah, the worms in my stomach are already singing and dancing makosa.

"Wow, are we to pay?", I asked no one in particular.

"Don't worry. It's part of the fees", Nicole answered.

I took a tray and set a plate on it. I started piling my plate with jollof rice.

"Wow, you can eat o", I heard a voice whisper in my ears.

"Ahh", I gave a shout scream. I turned and saw it was Tyler. The idiot was even laughing.

"You Chicken", I said to him. "You almost made me drop my precious food"

"Oya, I'm sorry, Lizzybaby"

"Argh, stop calling me that. Also, look at your own plate filled with food as if you didn't eat for three months", I said pointing at his plate.

"I'm a growing boy na. I need to eat. But don't worry, I won't get fat. I'm in good shaped", Tyler said flexing his muscles. I could see the outline beneath his shirt.

I have to admit, it's pretty impressive but I won't tell him that, nope.

"Yeah, whatever". It's not even big sef.... You better close your mouth before fly enter. I'm going to go eat", I said and left him there gaping.

I could see Becca and the others sitting around a rectangular table. I dropped my food on it and sat down on the chair beside Becca.

"Hmm, this one that you and Tyler are getting closer. Should I be expecting you as a sister in-law in maybe 6 to 7 years?, Becca asked.

"What?!", I shouted choking on my food. I saw head turned to look at me.
"Where did you get that idea from?", I whisper-yell.

"Because I personally think my brother likes you and I like you. He has been smiling ever since he saw you in class today. Looks like a stupid clown"

"You are not serious"

"Well I guess we'll see about that", she said and continued eating her food.
I turned and saw Tyler already coming with his food.

"Becca, this your friend is sharp o", he said immediately he sat down next to me.

"Yes na. You think she is all those girls that will be forming for Africa?", Becca replied.

"So Elizabeth", Tyler turned to face me. "Do you believe in love at first sight?"

"Actually, I don't", I said chewing my food.

"You don't?"

"No, I don't. How can you meet someone for the first time and say you love the person? Total trash. That's the line some foolish boys will be using. I believe in love o but not love at first sight"

"Okay, what about like at first sight?"

"Keep quiet and eat your food, Tyler" Becca said before I could answer the question.

We all ate and gisted about things before we heard the siren blare. Ahn, that annoying siren.

We left the cafeteria and headed to our classes. Nicole and Shola went to the right where their class was while we continued down the corridor. I noticed that Pelumi wasn't following us. I turned and saw him hugging Nicole and whisper something in her ears before he ran to up to us. Hmm, I'm sensing school romance.

We got to our class and as we were about to enter, I heard Tyler whisper in my ears.
"Actually, I never believed in love at first sight but now I do. I've fallen in love with someone and someday, she's gonna fall in love with me too"

I turned to him and saw him smiling. Weird.

This chapter was kinda hard to write but it was still fun. I actually don't believe in love at first sight but I love hearing about peoples love stories.

Hi, everyone. I'm soooo sorry. I know I promised to update yesterday but there was no light to charge my phone. Imagine my supruse when I just logged in and saw your comments. Thanks a lot. This chapter is dedicated to Zeus100 and Gloryejims.



Chapter 4

Immediately we entered the class, we move to where we dropped our bags and sat down on the seats.

I saw Rebecca look at a group of three boys gathered around a desk and waved at them smiling widely. Before I could ask her who they were, the man whom Becca earlier introduced as Mr Femi came in.

I brought out my time table and saw we had chemistry first period and brought out a note and a chemistry textbook from my bag. I guess my question will have to wait.

"Good morning, class", Mr Femi said.

"Good morning, sir!", we all answered.

" I am Mr Femi Martins to the new students who don't know me and I am your chemistry teacher", he introduced. "Now, for this week, we shall be revising some previous topics you were taught in ss2 just to refresh your memory. Now, you can tell me what oxidation and reduction means. Anyone?..... Yes Sandra?"

I looked back and saw a girl wearing glasses stand up and start explaining.
"Reduction is a reaction in which electrons are gained and valence is reduced often by the addition of hydrogen while oxidation is a reaction in which electrons are lost and valence increased often by the addition of oxygen. Also--"

"Emmm, I think that's okay, Sandra. You may sit down", Mr Femi interrupted her.

I heard some students laughing and murmuring "ITK", " amebo"

And that was how the whole class continued. The teacher asking us questions and we replying. I even answered a couple of questions. Clap for me, guys. Lol.
The class was really interesting and the teacher was nice.

Soon, the siren blared signaling the end of the class and Mr Femi left.

"So how did you like your first class, huh?", Becca turned in her seat and asked me.

"Well, it was interesting and the teacher seemed friendly"

"Oh yes. Mr Femi is the nicest male teacher in this school not like some that shout every time especially that mathematics teacher, pokiyo"

"Pokiyo?" What kind of name is that??

"Yeah, that's our nickname for her. She's brilliant o but her wahala is too much. Just wait, we have maths tomorrow"

"Okay, I can't wait. By the way, who were those guys you waved at?"

"Oh, the tall fair guy at the right is my brother, Tyler followed by his friend, Richard then Pelumi at the left"

I turned to look at them. Well the Tyler guy is kinda cute although the other guys are cute too. What are you thinking, Elizabeth

Before I could say anything, another teacher entered the class. We have English language now. After English, it was physics for two periods then geography before break.

The siren blew and the geography teacher, Mr Tolu left meaning break time. Halleluyah!! I'm so hungry.

"Yay!!!", Becca shouted. "Break time. Oh, I'm starving. My stomach us already singing, feed me feed me".

"Me too", I said laughing.

As we stood up, Tyler and his friends came up to our seats.

"Hey, guys", Becca said. "What's up?"

"We cool", Tyler answered.

"Well, this is my new friend, Elizabeth", she said.

"Nice to meet you", Pelumi and Richard waved.

To my surprised, Tyler held up and hand and kissed my palm. What? I was too shocked to react.

"How are you, milady?"

I snatched my hand away.

"Tyler, stop behaving like a chicken, this is Nigeria not London. Milady ko milady ni"

Tyler started laughing. "I was just joking, Lizzybaby. Don't freak out"

"No problem, sire", I replied smiling.

We all laughed and left the class to find Shola and Nicole. As we went, Tyler put his arm over my shoulder. I could see Becca looking at us from the corner of her eyes. I stylishly wiggled from under Tyler's arm.

Chapter 3


I saw a girl who looked kind of friendly and decided to ask her.
"Umm, hi. Please can you show me to SS3A science department?"

"Sure, that's where I'm going. I'm Rebecca. Are you a new student?", the girl said.

"Yes, I am. My name is Elizabeth"

"Cool, we can be friends. I'll show you around later, let's get to class now", she said and smiled.

Okay, this Rebecca girl is overly friendly. I hope it's not just pretense.
But as we went, I discovered she's for real. She's friendly and has this bubbly personality that really infecting. She pointed out places as we went.

"Okay, here we are. Welcome to Ss3A science. Home of geniuses", Rebecca said as we came to a stop in front of a class.

Hmm, geniuses. Is she sure about that?

"Really?", I asked her.

"Sure", she said and opened the door and we stepped into the class. No one even paid attention to us. Good.

Becca saw two empty seats and dragged me to sit down there. Immediately we dropped our bags, I heard a siren blaring.

"What's that?", I asked Becca.
"Oh, that's just means it's time for assembly", she replied. "Come on, let's go".

I followed Becca as she went into a big hall I saw when I entered the school compound earlier.
I followed her as she lined up behind some students. I could already see another set of students whom I can presume are prefects directing the junior students.

"This school is organized oo, in my former school, the junior are always forming strong head", I told Becca.

"It's because this is the first day of school. You never see chumthing", she replied.

Ehn, what is this? This girl that looks like ajebo can speak pidgin?

"You can speak pidgin?", I asked Becca.

"Before nko", she replied laughing.

"Well, I thought since you look rich and all, you will be blowing big big grammar"

"Let me ask you. Any Nigerian that can't speak pidgin, is that one Nigerian?"

"I don't know oo" This girl is really funny and friendly not like all those stuck up rich girls.

"Good morning, students", I heard a voice from one of the speakers that were positioned at both sides of the hall.

"Who's that?", I whispered to Becca pointing at the man who just talked.

"That's the chemistry teacher, Mr Femi"

Mr Femi lead us in devotion and after that, left the podium. Then another man climbed up and started addressing us.

"That's the principal, Mr Fisayo Akinola", Becca said without me asking. "He's a disciplinarian and doesn't tolerate nonsense so watch out".

"Okay, I get it"

"Good morning, students", Mr Fisayo said.

"Good morning, sir", we all chorused.

"I hope your holidays were good. As you all know, this is a new school year. I want you to face your books and make your parents proud. I don't want to hear any report of bad behaviour, okay?"

"Okay, sir!"

"You may go to your classes", he said and left.

We all moved out of the hall. Immediately we got out, I noticed Becca looking around as if searching for something or someone.

"What are you looking for?", I asked her.

"My friends, Shola and Nicole. I want to introduce you to them.....oh I see them", she said the dragged me towards two girls waving at us.

Wow, this girl is fond of dragging people.
"Shola, Nicole, how's you?" She asked once we reached the girls imitating Jenifa from the movie, Jenifa's diary.

They all hugged each other laughing. I felt like a third wheel or is it fourth wheel in this case.

"This is my new friend or should I say our new friend, Elizabeth. Elizabeth, this is Shola and Nicole. Now you guys should hug", Becca said.

"Hi, nice to meet you", I told Shola and Nicole. To my surprised, they didn't hesitate to hug me.
Maybe I've been wrong about these rich people. Not all of them are snobs.

"By the way, where is Tyler and the rest?" Nicole asked.

"I don't know. Maybe they are already in class. Speaking about class, Elizabeth and I need to go, we'll see you guys during break time, bye", Becca said and we waved and left.

"What department are they in and who is Tyler?" I asked Becca as we head to our class.

"They are in arts department and Tyler is my twin brother", she replied.

"His name is kind of weird she"

"Yeah, my mum named him after one of the heroes in those romance novels she reads"

"Wow, cool"
We didn't sat anything more as we got to the door to our class room

Chapter 2

I boarded a bike going to the school. The name is Royal College. Getting to the front, I could help but marvel at what a big school it is. It was two stories high. I entered into the compound and looked around. Everything was neat, I'm getting to like this school. I saw an elderly man by the gate. I guess this was the gateman, maybe I can ask him for directions.

"Good morning sir", I greeted.

" ekaro, omo mi", he replied in Yoruba.

"Please, sir. I'm a new student and I'm looking for the secretary office"

"Okay, enter the first building, go straight then go left, you see the office"

"Thank you, sir"

I went on my way and saw different students in their uniforms. Some greeting their friends and discussing.

I soon found the office, it was open and I saw a woman of about 40 sitting on a chair behind the desk.

"Good morning, ma"

"Good morning. What do you want?",she replied.

"I'm a new student. Elizabeth Peters. Ss3 science. I've already paid my school fees and I was told to come see you"

"Oh, yeah. Mr Henry was the one who paid, right?"

"Yes ma"

"Okay, take a seat while I look for your file", she said already looking for it.

"Okay, this is it", I saw her removed a piece of paper from the file. "This is your timetable. It contains the subjects you have from Monday to Friday and the time".

"Excuse me, ma", we heard a voice from the entrance to the office.

"Come in, Segun", the secretary replied.

Then she turned to me. "I have introduced myself, you can call me Mrs Wale. If you have any question, put it in the opinion box. You can go now".

"Thank you, ma"

I went out of the office.
Oh no, I forgot to ask her for directions and by what is written on the paper she gave me, I'm supposed to be in SS3A science.

Oh well, maybe I'll just ask someone.
