To get a more positive and and fast response, these barrage of complaints and protests should be directed at NCC. These telecom coys only concern is maximizing profit at the expense of their subscribers. A resoanable and workable proposal should be made bearing in mind the cost of doing business in Nigeria. |
If you are having problem browsing with the normal Android browser, just download Opera or ucweb. The normal browser usually gives an error report "Unauthorized Access" or something like that even when you can whatsapp and Facebook. |
ejibaba: Baba...drop me ur contacts so i whatsapp u..tnxBro check my signature. Its there. |
runzlord: Does driod vpn work the same as your freedoom on pc?The PC version is called PD proxy. works well. |
smajatt: and can it b used as a hotspot for my pcyes. But remember that the free version limits you to 100mb/day . |
lahnder: pls does Etisalat bb plan works on iphone?Nope. |
twaintoy: Those mods sef get as e be, na wa for dem. They set rules that they themselves does not follow. If una like make una bar me, nairaland is not the end of d world.babe thank you joor seems some people aren't happy with what I'm doing here. Its not like I went against any rule o. I will soon leave here for them. I would've gone for blogging, save for time constraints. Maybe I will just stick to the peeps that whatsapp me. Its really annoying. |
Human Psycho: Now the issue is the bbc subscription is capped at what? Before we talk about droidvpn, which mtn bis subscription is a sure bet to provide at least 2gig of data.. Cos i dnt want to subscribe and browse only few days.mtn BBC gives you 3Gig for 1k |
I was strangely and unjustly bared from commenting on Nairaland. I complained to the mods in this section to no avail. I hardly comment outside my thread. It came as a surprise. I'm back now sha. |
JayKayMaybachz: how? ? does is it meab u are browsing free?? vand what's ur apn cux blackberry.net is not connectingOnce you root your phone, doesn't really matter your APN, it will connect. But some APN are faster sha |

Cohsyn: I jst tried this option but I git a reply dat ICMP can only be used on a rooted device. Hiw do I go about that please.A non rooted Android is more of a glorified iDevice ![]() Yes, ICMP only works on rooted device. This is one of the reasons why your Android should be rooted. |
Luvly devin: will this vpm stuff work on my phone, my phone is not rootedother features of Droidvpn works if your phone isn't rooted. but to enjoy ICMP you must root your phone. |
yehmy: Pls join d protest mtn must here our cry we cnt b using android nd expect us to sub 4 mb at 1k nd will b given 250mb wen we all knw how android can drain mb, we want a good data plan like dt of bb plan..... join the protest pick up ur fone call customer care, then we will inform NCC on this. this is serious |
smajatt: tnx for d heads up network.genious.you welcome bro |
cheerios: Pls with droidvpn, will some1 still need to subscribe for bis to enjoy d free 100mb?Sadly, yes |
I heard Set DNS works for some peeps(didn't work when I tried it) Download Set DNS select Google DNS go to settings and check "override 3G DNS" Try it out. it could work for you. I will update the thread as more tricks come up. Please endeavor to post the one working for you. |
Free version of Droidvpn allows you a paltry 100MB per day You need to create an account with them too. I've not been able to find another ICMP tunneler like Droidvpn. But if I have enough time, I will compile an ICMP tunneler( the source code was targeted for Linux os). It is called ptunnel. Got the original code online. |
Truth be told, the best available option now is Droidvpn. Droidvpn is a VPN like no other! Allows an internet access via ICMP What this means is that it can tunnel you to the internet once you can ping other computers on that same network. ICMP unlike UDP and TUC, is treated by network severs and routers as special network protocol, it means that internet connection over ICMP is faster than on other protocols. MTN is in for big trouble, because if majority of Android users should go for ICMP tunnelers like Droidvpn, they'd be in a bigger mess. Enough of the bla bla bla Install Droidvpn go to settings Open "Connection Protocol" and select ICMP endeavor to use blackberry.net APN |
Against all expectations, MTN is trying to stop the use of their BIS plan on other OS platforms other than BB. Even my course mate working with them(who grudgingly passes me some info) was surprised too. What is worthy of note is that some people are still using theirs(I'm doing so right now). My friend (not me) believes that it could be a temporary ploy to free up their overburdened server a bit and also to ascertain the amount of stress non BB users exert on their server through the use of BIS. This is because when magic sim got blocked, lots of people took the next available option; MTN BIS. My BBC plan was supposed to expire yesterday evening, but up till now it hasn't(I hope it remains this way )and my airtime is still intact. I'm going to be posting some temporary measures we can still use to surf until something more concrete and big works. |
bukahands: Where is networkgenuis ?I'm much around bro. I've been in the lab preparing a solution to this current MTN mess. |
Calm down guys. There's no need of being unnecessarily jumpy about this issue. I know many people will go nuts if MTN stops their BIS from working on Android, because for now they offer the best deal. For economic reasons, MTN isn't stopping it for now. They are experiencing some problems which started 2 weeks ago. If your blackberry.net doesn't connect, try gmail.com or Google.com For more tips, check my smart data subscription thread. Cheers. |
adewasco2k: I guess its network but blackberry.net is dead at my end. There's nothing to fear. Blackberry.net still connects and is blazing fast on my Galaxy Tab. If blackberry.net doesn't connect, use gmail.com MTN is only having some issues with their network. Wish you happy web surfing |
faithia88: i cant imagine paying 1k for 250mbThat's unthinkable. Many people will dump Android if BIS stops working on it. Even if you are a light user, background apps alone will suck more than 250MB before month end ![]() |
twaintoy: Did same for one of my colleague's husband dis evening and got same message. What is happening? Or have they stopped bb subscription on android? It hasn't been blocked. MTN BIS still works on Android wella. Check your configuration, there may be a mistake somewhere. And if blackberry.net doesn't work, try gmail.com. |
adewasco2k: when you are talking about real downloads, bros you can point to me you just need to see my utorrent downloader full list...the attached are recent downloads after the death of magic SIM and yes, i am using BBC plan...not to act like i dont know...some people's SIM stops at 3GB but i guess some of some are lucky.Seems bbcday works like BBC month. Its really unlimited on some sims. Nice one Ade. |
Emmysteve: Wow thanx, i av to stick to my bbc monthly of 1000 per 3gb. mtn try abeg. The only customers friendlyDem really try o. |
Paschal007: @NG there are two ustvs on playstoreDownload the one with the highest number of downloads. |
macklef: pls do anyone here use airtel on USTv?? cos mine neva works on airtel.. mayb its my network or its general.Should be your network and not because you are using Airtel. |
Another good package from Airtel is the bsm package. Costs #1200 Capped at 1Gig Send bsm to 440 Use the usual APN and username+ password. |
Emmysteve: i thought the bbc day is unlimitedIts not unlimited. Those claiming that's unlimited are light users. Some people have actually exhausted theirs. |
The best bet on Airtel plan now is the #1500 package which they lie that its unlimited. It is actually capped at 2Gig (costlier than mtn BBC which is capped at 3Gig and costs 1k #Abeg dey try!) The problem with this plan is that it doesn't work on Android withtout a little touching. But enjoy it on your Android, you have to cough out another #100 to subscribe to the Daily 10MB package, it will make your 2Gig from the BIS usable on your Android. BIS code = *440*16# 10MB code = *141*712*11# Combined data cap = 2034MB (2Gig 10MB) Total amount spent = #1600 APN = blackberry.net or internet.ng.airtel.com Web and password = internet. |
