KORLAR:1st Class and 2.1 don't automatically make them better than those persons that have 2.2. If they truly want to hire the best. They should make the recruitment process; aptitude test and interview very transparent and competitive for all graduates to participate and the best will emerge at the end of the process. Thank you. |

Fasindo: Wrong mentality my brother. The fact that it is rampant doesn't mean there aren't people getting good FG employment without knowing anybody. Just a few months ago, I reached out to a Chief Executive of one of the top MDAs, that doesn't know me from Adam, on LinkedIn and in less than a month I assumed a senior management position with them that pays slightly above 2M monthly. I know a few influential persons in the last and current administration, Chief Executives of MDAs and Minister, that refused to help me get a government employment. The Minister was someone that I called a few times as late as 3am and he would normally pick, but never helped. Just keep pushing and God will make it happen miraculously in His time. Avoid making general statements because there are always exceptions. All the best! 2 Likes |

Politics / Re: I’m Ready To Be VP If I See Someone Who Will Perform Better, Says Peter Obi by Newcastle2023(m): 4:39pm On Sep 13 |
Antoeni:Peter Obi didn't make that statement. It's the handwork of cheap journalist. You can watch the interview on YouTube to verify my position. Peter Obi remains the Presidential Candidate to beat in 2027 elections. The South still has 4 more years to go by 2027. He will win the 2027 Presidential elections convincingly. Hopefully, when the constitution is amended next year, it will be a single term of 5 or 6 years for the President and Governors. I think that's the way to go so as to eliminate both the do or die politics for 2nd term, and the distractions of politicking for 2nd term that starts immediately after taking the oath of office for the 1st term. |

The old minimum wage of 30k expired in April, 2024. The new minimum wage of 70k would start from May, 2024 with the arrears as soon as the National Assembly passes it into Law and the Ministry of Finance completes the salary adjustment across board. 6 Likes |

Nadingo:You didn't need to apologize my brother. It doesn't make any sense to have a minimum wage that can't buy a 50kg bag of Rice. All the past minimum wages in my adult life bought at least two 50kg bags of Rice with some balance left. I personally didn't believe the current minimum wage would be less than 120k. It's really unfortunate. 6 Likes |

Politics / Re: "Most States are not viable": Agbakoba seeks return to regional Government by Newcastle2023(m): 7:09pm On Jul 14 |
Obiedun:I believe that all the 36 States are very viable. The problem is very poor management of the resources of the States by their Governors who mostly know next to nothing about leadership and management. Many Nigerian States have more resources than many countries around the world. The problem is having leaders that lack both character and leadership capacity. |

Even the blind and deaf Nigerians see clearly and hear loudly of the brazing and provocative lopsidedness of political appointments in the Tinubu Administration in favour of the South West in general and Lagos State in particular. It's only unpatriotic, tribal, narrow minded, selfish and pretentious individuals that think otherwise. Calling out evil by public office holders remains a very patriotic and noble gesture. And saying nothing in the face of impunity and callousness is an endorsement. Anyone waiting for infographics on this matter from me will wait forever. Thank you. 8 Likes |

Gabicon20:The Nigerian youths should as a matter of urgency become more active in political and governance activities. They should support only competent individuals with both character and track record of performance for public offices. The issues of national interest, national cohesion & integration, fair representation across geopolitical zones, ethnic, religious, gender and physically challenged persons, and for the good of greater number of the Nigerian citizenry should be a priority. The Nigerian youths should relegate tribal and religious biases to the back seat for this country to survive this imminent collapse. We have the number and energy on our side to save Nigeria from tipping off the cliff. Thank you. 6 Likes 1 Share |

It's really unfortunate to see the brazing lopsidedness in the FG appointments in favour of the South West. Buhari did same and Tinubu is doing even worse. APC seems to be on a mission to destroy Nigeria completely. Zero sense of managing national diversity and cohesion. Nigerian elites have failed this country and I hope the Nigerian youths won't choose to be docile, irresponsible and foolish. If the needful is not done now, there won't be Nigeria left for our children and grandchildren. 10 Likes |

Technical Proposal for the Conversion of Vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Nigeria Executive Summary The proposed allocation of N50,000 to 3.7 million households over 3 months across the 36 States and the FCT which amount to N555 Billion as a palliative measure is a significant misapplication of scarce resources. A more impactful strategy would be to aggressively convert commercial vehicles across Nigeria to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) operated vehicles, and subsidize the conversion cost for private vehicles. This approach would provide a more sustainable economic impact by reducing transportation costs, promoting cleaner energy, creating job opportunities, and bolstering local industries. This proposal outlines the benefits and implementation plan for a national CNG conversion program. Benefits of CNG Conversion Economic Impact 1. Cost Efficiency: The current price of CNG is less than N250 per kilogram, which is cheaper than the former subsidized petrol pump price. In price comparison by weight, petrol costs over N850 per kilogram. 2. Transportation Cost Reduction: Lower fuel costs will reduce transportation expenses, subsequently decreasing the cost of food, commodities, and services. 3. Job Creation: The conversion program will create over 100,000 jobs for technicians and more than 10,000 new businesses or income streams from conversion outlets. 4. Market Expansion: Increased CNG usage will boost demand for CNG production, distribution, and retail, creating a significant market for local producers. 5. Foreign Exchange Earnings: By focusing on exporting petrol and utilizing CNG domestically, Nigeria can earn substantial foreign exchange. Environmental and Safety Advantages 1. Cleaner Energy: CNG is a cleaner alternative to petrol and diesel, producing fewer pollutants and reducing environmental impact. 2. Safety: CNG storage tanks are stronger and safer than petrol or diesel tanks, reducing the risk of accidental releases. CNG disperses quickly into the air, minimizing the risk of fire or ground contamination. Higher ignition temperature of CNG (628°C) compared to petrol (280°C) and diesel (210°C) reduces the likelihood of accidental ignition. Implementation Plan Phase 1: Infrastructure Development 1. Establish Conversion Centers: Set up conversion centers nationwide with a target of creating over 10,000 outlets. Train and certify technicians to ensure quality and safety standards. 2. Import and Assemble CNG Vehicles: Focus on importing and assembling CNG-operated vehicles, reducing reliance on petrol-powered ones. Phase 2: Conversion Subsidy Program 1. Commercial Vehicles: Prioritize the conversion of commercial vehicles to maximize impact on transportation costs. Provide full or partial subsidies for conversion to encourage adoption. 2. Private Vehicles: Offer subsidies to private vehicle owners to promote widespread use of CNG. Phase 3: Financial Support 1. Intervention Funds: Channel borrowed funds intended for palliatives into the CNG conversion program. Provide low-interest loans through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stakeholders in the CNG value chain. 2. Government Incentives: Offer tax breaks and other incentives to businesses involved in the CNG supply chain to encourage investment and growth. Conclusion The proposed reallocation of funds towards the CNG conversion program presents a more viable and sustainable solution to the economic challenges posed by the removal of petrol subsidies. By reducing transportation costs, creating jobs, and promoting cleaner energy, this initiative will have a profound positive impact on Nigeria's economy and environment. The Federal Government and relevant MDAs are urged to prioritize and expedite the implementation of this program to alleviate the current economic hardships and set the country on a path to sustainable growth. |
