…….seizes results of candidates from 8 states

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Monday, 7th of August, 2023, released the results of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) for school candidates.


According to report, the examination body released the results today.

The Head of the Public Affairs unit of the examination body, Moyosola Adesina confirmed the release of the result.

However, candidates from eight states owing the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, for various services rendered will not get their 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE, results.

WAEC revealed this to journalists on Monday at the Press Briefing Hall, WAEC National Office, Yaba.

The body lamented that the inability to pay for services rendered was posing a great challenge in the activities of the examination body.

Responding to a question on the states owing WAEC, the National Officer of WAEC, Mr. Patrick Areghan, noted that “About eight states are owing WAEC. We won’t mention them all as some are going to pay.

“However, Zamfara and Niger are the highest debtors. Again Zamfara did not present any candidate for this year’s WASSCE,” Areghan noted.

Candidates who sat for the 2023 WASSCE can check their results through the internet by using the WAEC result-checking portal or through SMS (without the internet).

Alfadarai further said that the Corps is open to all mechanisms of collaboration with the Ministry and all relevant stakeholders in the Agro - Allied industry in the state to prevent insecurity and enhance safety for both skilled and unskilled workers in the system.

The Permanent Secretary, Mrs Tokunbo Emokpae welcome the State Commandant and commended the efforts of the Command so far in fulfilling its mandate throughout the state. She also made it clear that the Ministry will continue to engage the Corps from time to time whenever there is such need.

18 years old boy was apprehend by operatives of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Security Service for breaking into a shop and stealing phones worth almost N1 million

The boy who is from Okordia community in Yenagoa LGA, broke into a shop at Akums Plaza located at Kpansia, Yenagoa on sunday morning and made away with different brands of brand new mobile phones

During interrogation it was discovered that the boy also works at that plaza but a different shop

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun on Friday ordered the immediate release of year 2021/2022 promotion exercise alongside the approval for the payment of March and April 2023 leave bonuses.

Abiodun made this known during the year 2023 Public Service Day Celebration, with the theme ‘Building Trust Through Service Delivery : The Pivotal Role of the Public Service’, held at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta..

The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, added that his Administration considers civil servants important partners in progress saying their wellbeing and welfare is therefore sacrosanct .

Abiodun commended the harmonious working relationship that has continue to exist between the govt and the entire workforce in the state noting that this his administration doesn’t take for granted saying together we will ensure its enviable position in Nigeria as a whole.

Governor therefore charged public servant to be dedicated and commited to the discharge of their duties saying the public service remains one of the Avenues where integrity as well as good legacy is earned through adequate service delivery.

Also Speaking, the Vice Chairman Association of Retired Head of service and Permanent Secretaries, Mr Demola Badejo, said Ogun state civil service has been on the forefront, hence the need for public servants to continue to uphold the tenets and rules guiding it operations, most importantly being the engine room of government.

He also implored the state government to continue to provide the necessary tools and welfare packages for public servants in other to enable them perform optimally.

Speaking on the theme; Building trust through service delivery: the pivotal role of the public service, the guest lecturer who was a former Oyo State head of service, Chief Tajudeen Aremu, enjoined the public servants to try and build trust in order to win the heart of thier bosses and the public, adding that Ethics, accountability, and Service delivery are other key concepts towards building trust through service delivery.

He said anonymity, impartiality/neutrality, objectivity and confidentiality are civil service ethics which will earn public servants more prestige and respect from their bosses, politicians and the publics if put into consideration, while urging public servants to learn how to dress modestly, be guided by the public service rules as well as treat all matters as and when due.

The practical steps to build trust through service delivery, according to the guest lecturer are; ‘studying government policy paper with a view to designing the successful implementation, periodical briefing of the HOS by agencies of government and working to a point of indispensability through total quality service, impacting on subordinate officers for service and integrity, being accurate with figures and data and maintaining integrity of the civil service and personal integrity of officers’.

Chairman Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade Hakeem Lasisi, said civil servants must be grateful to Almighty God for given them the grace to witness this year’s celebration, expressing optimism that the governor would address the current situation many public servants are facing as a result of the pronouncement of fuel subsidy.

Ogun State Head of Service, Mr Kola Peter Fagbohun, said the annual public service day celebration was meant to celebrate the values and virtues of public service to society, noting that this year’s theme was carefully selected to further enable the public servants to comprehend their essence in their continued service delivery to government and members of the public.

While thanking the Governor, whom he described as worker friendly and purpose driven, for his support and for approving this year’s celebration, he also congratulated the Governor on his assumption of office for the second term.

How would you describe the personal qualities and greatest passion that have brought you this far in your career?

The personal qualities that have brought me thus far are boldness, courage, inner strength,and fear of God. Life is full of ups and downs,and to wade through successfully,one needs to be strong, with courage and boldness that can only come from an inner strength that's God-given. The Holy book says the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. To survive in this world, one needs wisdom. So, I fear God in all my actions to achieve my goals.

While my greatest passion is to acquire enough knowledge to serve humanity better than i met knowledge in most of my life, schooling to
acquire what I need to achieve my goals. What you do not know, you cannot give. So, I gained knowledge in every stage of my life to meet my needs in service, as the only constant in life is Change.l started my education in the Pure Arts,
am in the Pure Sciences. In all, I got certified to navigate the opportunities that abound in each chosen career.


Despite the harsh economy in Nigeria,how would you describe your experience in the last few years in the Education and Banking sector?

The harsh economy in Nigeria taught me many lessons to navigate the business environment to remain in business. It has not been an easy ride. Though I had my certification in banking.I returned to school to acquire a doctorate in Business Administration.

My thesis was on sustainable strategies for microfinance directors to succeed in the finance industry.
The educational sector has been dangling with many challenges, as parents and guardians find it difficult to meet their obligations as it affects their child/children's educational financing, coupled with constant changes in
policies that have not been favourable. I also returned to school to learn a better way of level and got a Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Administration, Management,and
leadership to strengthen my institution,which is 35 years old this year. The knowledge gained and experienced in the field have been the driving force that has sustained my businesses in
this unstable economy.


What do you think are the factors to Over
come the limitations leading to slow
progress in women ascending the
position of the number one citizen of this great country,Nigeria?


There are numerous factors to overcome limitations for a woman to become the number one citizen of Nigeria.
Firstly, she will need to be ordinated by GOd because God rules men's affairs. Secondly,she will require men and women to give her a chance by supporting her aspirations.


The Nigerian Woman needs a long term
plan, leadership, politics, economics knowledge, and a visionary manifesto for such an office.Then be ready to make the necessary sacrifice that involves neglect of family and spouse, except a Supportive spouse. She will have to earn the people's trust, Start early to navigate the ropes, Stay in the limelight of politics,

Contests for Presidency, many, including I, will Vote for her because she is knowledgeable and has proven trustworthy.

I am not satisfied with the percentage of Women in politics.The Men have failed us,so I will advocate for more Women to nurture the people of our nation, since, by Our very nature, we are nurturers.

Everybody needs a mother, and
for a government to succeed in catering for the people, they must consider women's leadership role.


Nigeria is a nation were Women did rule and had notable regimes in their time.
Women like Adesuwa, Amina,and Idia, to mention a few, Wrote their names in the sand of time.Colonialism has been the bane of women,but with the world getting smaller every day and Women ascending presidential positions in other nations, it's time Nigerians give it a try.

It might be our saving grace to put our country in the path of growth and access the much needed peace.

My candid advice to Women is that they should ac quire knowledge in their area of interest,learn a skilI, build capacity, fear God, be prayerful and kind, be fair in their judgement, uphold
integrity, advocate boldly for themselves, create,and pursue their goals with determination and courage, and fight for their faith.

I received the news of the death of our revered Elder, former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, former Federal Attorney General, Former High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Founder & Chancellor, Crescent University and ex- World Court Jurist, the Hon Judge Bolasodun Adesumbo Ajibola, KBE with very mixed feelings. He passed on early this morning aged 89.

His Excellency, Prince Bola Ajibola’s death was a personal loss to me for many reasons, one of which was our shared Owu ancestry. His life and times captured the finest qualities of his lineage- diligent and focused, exceptionally industrious and thoroughly professional. He excelled at whatever he fixed his gaze upon. A run-away success story in all ramifications, yet he remained humble and accessible to all, high and low till he breathed his last. He took his Islamic faith most seriously and contributed immeasurably to its growth. He served humanity meritoriously in very many diverse spheres and, in his later years, devoted his time and energy to peace and well being of his immediate Community, Owu Kingdom and Ogun State.

Like every mortal, I was aware that at some point he would answer the call of his Maker. His unmatched experience and straight forward disposition will be sorely missed.

My condolences go to his widow, children and immediate family. Same to the Nigerian Bar Association and Judiciary, his primary vocation, and to the Management, Staff, Students and all Stakeholders of Crescent University. I beseech Almighty Allah swt to forgive his earthly sins and admit him to Aljana Fridaous.

Judge Ajibola will always be remembered as an icon of Law and Judicature, an embodiment of both the Bar and the Bench. He was President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and Father of Arbitration in Nigeria; Attorney-General and Minister of Justice of the Federation; Chairman, Body of Benchers; Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and member of its Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) at the Hague; President of the Jurists Association of the World Association of Judges; member of the United Nations Compensation Commission on Iraq’s Invasion of Kuwait; Arbitrator and Commissioner of the Ethiopia/Eritrea Boundary Commission; member, Vice-President and then President of the World Bank Administrative Tribunal; Chairman of the National Boundary Commission and Chairman of the Nigerian Delegation to the Nigeria/Cameroon Mixed Commission on the Bakassi Peninsula; and last but not the least, High Commissioner to the United Kingdom amongst numerous other high profile, national and international commitments, assignments and accolades. He was a recipient of great honours from King Abdullah II of Jordan and he received similar tributes from King Abdullah bin AbdulAziz Al-Saud, the immediate past King of Saudi Arabia.

Judge Ajibola is a Fellow of the Aal al Bayt Institute of Thought in Amman, Jordan and has remained for more than a decade, a regular biographee of that Institute’s prestigious publication, ‘‘The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the World’’.

At the humanitarian level, Judge Bola Ajibola founded the African Concern in 1994. This was intended as an African response to the Rwandan genocide and many other wars and civil strife which then bestraddled the entire African continent in one form or the other. He founded the Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) in 1996 to promote Islam in its true light as a religion of peace, love and harmonious co-existence amongst all peoples - doing so through the means of education, socialisation, publicity and enlightenment.

The crowning glory of the IMA endeavour was the establishment of Crescent University, which became a private University through the grant of Licence by the Federal Government on 9 June 2005.

Judge Ajibola not only served nationally and internationally; he is warmly loved in his homestead of Abeokuta where he is Oluomo of Egbaland and Olori Omo Oba of Owu Kingdom.

We pray that Almighty Allah will pardon his shortcomings, accept his return and grant him a lofty station amongst His honoured friends in Paradise (Jannatul Firdaws). Ameen.

Late Ajibola, who was also a former Attorney-General of Nigeria, died at 89.

Ajibola is a dedicated Muslim and a Man of many path who has contributed in no small measure to uplift the living standards of people around him.

He's the founder of Crescent University, Abeokuta, died on Saturday midnight after a long-time illness as a result of old age.

The eldest child of the late jurist, Segun Ajibola, SAN, disclosed this in a statement, on Sunday in Abeokuta.

He wrote, “With very deep heart and gratitude to Almighty Allah.

“Our Dad, Prince Bola Ajibola, departed this world over midnight. May Almighty Allah bless him with Aljanah Firdaus.”

The NPF has condemned the Unprofessionalism and act of indiscipline displayed by the policemen caught in the video that is trending where some policemen were seen firing shots to rub the ego and hype a musician in the Kano city recently.
The policemen have been identified and arrested. They will be brought to the Force Headquarters for interview and necessary disciplinary action. Such an act is unpolice and can not be condoned in any way. So, we appreciate the concern of well-meaning Nigerians and groups who have forwarded the video to us for our attention and action. Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and attributed his victory at the March 18 governorship election to the Almighty God and the benevolence of the people of the state.

Abiodun, who alongside his deputy, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele and 25 winners in the House Assembly elections, equally lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for providing the enabling environment for free, fair, credible and transparent elections in the country.

Speaking further during the presentation ceremony held inside the INEC Media Centre, Magbon, Abeokuta, the governor said "this mandate is a call to a renewed hope not just for Ogun State, but the entire nation. I will continue with the people's oriented programmes that will make life abundant to our people".

He added that his administration would work towards consolidating the gains made in the first term just as new ideas that would benefit the people would be injected into the system.

"Now that elections have come and gone, I call on all my opponents to come and join hands with our administration to build the future of this state we call our own together", he enthused

He thanked the security agencies and staff of the electoral commission for working tirelessly to ensure peaceful conduct of the elections in the state.

In his remarks, the INEC National Electoral Commissioner in charge of Ogun, Osun and Ondo states, Prof. Adekunle Ajayi, said the presentation was in accordance with the provision of the Electoral Act 72, Section 1, which stipulated that certificates should be issued to winners within 14 days after elections.

He said the elections were highly anticipated and the electoral body made use of technology to improve the process, adding that the elections saw a high number of people, especially the youths, taking part.

While stressing that the lessons learnt in the course of conducting the elections, would be turned into a working document to serve as a standard for subsequent elections, the INEC National Commissioner said "this will make the electoral body to be one of the best electoral umpires in the world".

Prof. Ajayi thanked the people of the state for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the elections, declaring that the security agencies, the Nigeria Peace Committee, development partners, the media and all relevant stakeholders, all worked towards the success of the elections.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has identified some key players in the plot for an Interim Government in Nigeria. The Service considers the plot, being pursued by these entrenched interests, as not only an aberration but a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis. The illegality is totally unacceptable in a democracy and to the peace loving Nigerians.

This is even more so that the machination is taking place after the peaceful conduct of the elections in most parts of the country. The planners, in their many meetings, have weighed various options, which include, among others, to sponsor endless violent mass protests in major cities to warrant a declaration of State of Emergency. Another is to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the Federal and State levels.

The DSS supports the President and Commander-in-Chief in his avowed commitment to a hitch-free handover and will assiduously work in this direction. It also supports the Presidential Transition Council and such other related bodies in the States. It will collaborate with them and sister security and law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless inaugurations come 29th May, 2023.

Consequently, the Service strongly warns those organising to thwart democracy in the country to retract from their devious schemes and orchestrations.

Stakeholders, notably judicial authorities, media and the Civil Society, are enjoined to be watchful and cautious to avoid being used as instruments to subvert peace and stability of the nation.

While its monitoring continues, the DSS will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal steps against these misguided elements to frustrate their obnoxious intentions.

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has listed the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Head, DCP Tunji Disu and 32 others for promotion to Commissioner of Police in the country.

Disu and the 32 others were said to have been selected as the officers that were required to gain promotion for their selfless service to both the Command and humanity across the country.

Others listed for the promotion interview set to be conducted by the Police Service Commission (PSC) include Zubairu Abubakar, Godwin Eze, Clement Robert, Patrick Atayero, Nwonyi Emeka, Musibau Ajani, Tolani Alausa, and Abubakar Aliyu.

Others were: Zakaria Sanda, Audu Dabigi, Hayatu Ali, Garba Ahmed, Fasuba Akinyele, Emuobo Ekokotu, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Mobolaji, Chukwudi ChrisObaemi Adesanya and others.

A source at the Force headquarters in Abuja told The Guild on Monday night that the senior police officers would be made to face a panel of interviewers on Tuesday where they would be expected to explain better why they should be promoted to CP rank.

During the interview expected to start very early, he added that Disu, a former Commander, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), a Police formation under the Lagos Command, and other DCPs would be expected to justify their competence to fill the available CP vacuum at the Force headquarters.

According to him, except for major hitches, the senior policemen will be converging at the Force headquarters tomorrow before leaving for the PSC secretariat to participate in the promotion interview.

“All those going for the promotion interview especially Disu, merited the post considering their contribution to the protection of life and property across the country over the years”.

The promotion interview came barely two years after Disu was appointed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Alkali Baba, as the Head of IRT, in order to ensure that law enforcement improves across the country.

Disu took over the mantle of leadership of the tactical team constituted to stem insecurity in Nigeria, following the suspension of the former head, Abba Kyari, after the United State security agency linked him to a $1.1 million fraud case perpetrated in Qatar by a suspected fraudster, Ramon Abbas popularly called Hushpuppi.

Baba approved Disu’s appointment to fill the gap within the unit and refocus the IRT for better service delivery, a role the senior police officer has performed effectively.

The Police boss, while hinting that the deployment was with immediate effect, charged the new Head of the IRT to demonstrate his professional competence in his leadership of the Unit.

Before the new office, Disu was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and had previously served at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for Rivers Command as the Deputy Head of the Unit.

Considering his dedication to duties assigned to him, Disu was appointed to lead the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Mission in Dafur, Sudan.

As gathered, Disu’s achievements over the years were some of the reasons the Lagos State Government requested his deployment to head RRS, in order to stem insecurity across the state.

DSS ALERTS OF PLANNED VIOLENT ACTION; WARNS AGAINST DESPERATION TO IGNITE VIOLENCE IN
THE COUNTRY

The Department of State Service (DSS), again, alerts the public of plans to violently disrupt peace in the country. The Service hereby warns those desperate to cause a breakdown of law and order to desist from that. It would be recalled that the Service had earlier advised political players to abide by the rules of engagement as well as approach the courts for redress, if and where there are suspicions of infractions on extant electoral laws. It is evident that some aggrieved politicians are already taking advantage of this legal process. This, without doubt, is the beauty of democracy. It is strongly believed that this approach enhances peace and security. All and sundry should cherish it.

Be that as it may, the DSS will not tolerate a situation where persons and/or groups take laws into their hands and champion anarchy. Those peddling fake news, hate speech and all forms of false narratives as basis to ignite violence or pit the people against the present or incoming administrations, at the Federal, State and Parliamentary levels, should stop forthwith. Those inciting violence have nothing to gain as doing so will not only consume them but also the innocent. It is otherwise disturbing to see respected personalities use their platforms to mislead or incite citizens. This, to say the least, does not augur well for peaceful coexistence and general order.

Therefore, the Service will continue to take necessary measures to checkmate these elements who do not wish the country well. This is to ensure that the conducive environment is provided for citizens and residents to pursue their legitimate businesses. A stitch in time, they say, saves nine. Let all be guided.

Men of Ogun State Police Command on March 24 arrested one 43 years old Abiodun Oladapo for allegedly impregnating his 19-year-old daughter(name withheld).

The suspect was arrested following a complain lodged at Mowe divisional headquarters by one Oluwatoyin Idowu, who reported that her son Michael Idowu was wrongly accused of impregnating the victim and that she has properly interrogated her son and discovered that the victim was not saying the truth.

A statement from the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said upon the report, the victim who is five months pregnant was invited, and when she got to the station, she confided in the police that though Michael Idowu slept with her in December 2022, it was her father Abiodun Oladapo who is responsible for her pregnancy. She stated further that her father had been sleeping with her since February 2022 with threat to kill her if she informed anybody about it.

‘’According to the victim, when it was discovered that she is pregnant, her father asked her to lie against Michael Idowu of being responsible for the pregnancy. Upon her confession, the DPO Mowe division, SP Folake Afeniforo detailed detectives to go after the randy father, and he was subsequently arrested. On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime but blamed it on the devil.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect who had long separated with the victim's mother took custody of the girl when her mother remarried and they have been living together since then.''Abimbola said

The police spokesperson mentioned that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba, has directed that the suspect be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday suspended former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; former president of the Senate, Pius Anyim; Prof Dennis Ityavyar and Aslam Aliyu.

The suspension, which takes effect on Thursday, was arrived at after an extensive review of the affairs of the party, pursuant to the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).

The PDP also referred the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, to the National Disciplinary Committee over his reported involvement in anti-party activities.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

“The PDP urges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our party across the country to remain united and focused at this critical time,” the statement added.
