A 40-year-old man, Goodluck Onyewenyi, has been arrested for impersonating a kidney ailment patient, Joshua Onyeke, in Abuja, by opening an account in the patient’s name and sending out letters of assistance. The suspect, who made over N4million from the donations, refused to give the money to the patient who is expected to undergo kidney transplant in India. According to the Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT, CP Bala Ciroma: “The suspect who happens to be a family friend to the patient, took advantage of the relationship to write wealthy individuals, corporate organisations and highly placed government officials for financial assistance. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect uses names of patients identified to be suffering from kidney failure to solicit for financial assistance which he converts to his personal use.” Ciroma said investigation is on to determine the exact amount of money he collected from individuals, identify the individuals with a view to returning the funds to them and prosecute him. Narrating his role, the suspect said: “I changed my name to his name, I swore an affidavit and also changed my name using newspaper publication. I went ahead to open an account with Zenith bank. I solicited for fund with his name I wrote to the public soliciting for assistance and I backed up the assistance letter with his medical record to prove that it was a genuine case. I made over N4million from those who rendered help after the letter was sent out.” Reacting to the news, the elder brother to the patient, Abraham, said: “This is a clear case of wickedness, greed and breach of trust. We got the news from philanthropists who came to the hospital to know the true state of Joshua before making donations. We begged him to transfer the money but he refused. The police stepped in and blocked his account through court order. He could not make withdrawal anymore. He then went further to open an account at one of the UBA branches in Suleja and the donations continued going in. A 32-year-old gay love-vendor identified as Prince Chinecherem, has been arrested alongside a 16-year-old boy in Lagos. Chinecherem is the ringleader of a gay gang who engaged in their illegal acts in Lekki. According to Lagos state Police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgal, the suspect was using the teenager as accommercial sex worker, explaining that aside sleeping with him, he also gave him to other men requiring his service. Their case, Edgal said was worst because both men were tested and found to be HIV positive, which means their customers might have contracted same through them. Already, the police have declared two prominent pastors and some business executives wanted for allegedly having canal knowledge of the minor and belonging to the illegal group. It was gathered that Chinecherem, during interrogation, gave the identities of other members of the group including the prominent persons being hunted. Narrating how they were apprehended, Edgal told reporters that on January 22, at Ejigbo, a teenager was seen sneaking out of Chinecherem’s house in a suspicious manner. He said curious neighbours accosted him and asked what he had gone to the house to do but he could not answer satisfactorily. He was thereafter asked to open a plastic bag he was carrying and the neighbours saw used condoms with semen inside. “At this point, the boy revealed that Chinecherem was his lover. The matter was immediately reported to the Police at Ejigbo and the said Chinecherem was arrested for interrogation. . . After preliminary investigation, the matter was called for further enquiry by the Gender Section of the Command. Both the suspects were taken for medical examination and the result revealed that the boy had long been introduced to homosexual act. The worst is that both of them are infected with HIV virus which causes AIDS,” he said. It has come to the knowledge of Ericmany Limited that our artiste, Douglas Jack Agu, alias ‘Runtown’, has taken to social media celebrating a supposed ‘victory’ in our case in Court. Runtown is telling lies. Runtown did not win the case. He has not even filed a defence. . On 4th December, 2018, the Court ruled that Runtown’s lawyer can appear. But the Court dismissed Runtown’s application challenging its jurisdiction. It held that a breach of the contract is not for arbitration. The Court also held that Runtown should maintain the status quo. This means that Runtown should stop operations until the case is over. Runtown filed two appeals in the Court of Appeal on these. He then prayed the High Court to suspend the decisions and the trial itself “pending the determination of the Appeal filed at the Court of Appeal, Abuja”. In the meantime, Ericmany commenced contempt proceedings against Runtown due to his flouting of the Court Order. On 23rd January, 2019, the High Court agreed to suspend its decision and further trial to allow Runtown’s appeals to run out. This is normal practice. The lower Court cannot be seen to be fighting the appeal Court. The Court warned Runtown to move his papers to the Court of Appeal within 14 days or the relief is cancelled. So rather than misleading the unwary public that he has won, Runtown should rather concentrate on pushing his appeals. The relief he got in the High Court is a merely a short break by the High Court to respect the Court of Appeal. The case is still there. He has not filed a defence because he obviously has no defence. Runtown still owes Ericmany more than N266 Million. He has not produced a single album as agreed.
