The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his response to criticisms by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

PDP said “Buhari should stop acting like a coward.”

Obasanjo had on Sunday claimed that Buhari, among other things, was desperate for self-succession.

The former President, who compared Buhari’s regime to Abacha era, hinted on plans to rig the 2019 general elections.

Responding, Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu said “Our first message to the former President is that he needs a good doctor for good treatment and to say to him, “Get well soon.”

However, PDP faulted the response of the President, saying such was appalling.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Monday, PDP said in “approving Garba, to cast aspersions and insult on a former President, President Buhari was setting a very bad example to younger Nigerians by fouling our national values and heritage of our elders.”

The statement titled: “Obj: Stop Acting Like a Coward,” reads: “In approving his media aide, Mallam Shehu Garba, to cast aspersions and haul insult on a former President, President Buhari is setting a very bad example to younger Nigerians by fouling our national values and heritage of esteeming our elders and leaders; a seed, which may also haunt him in the future.

“Nigerians were appalled that President Buhari, whose state of health has been accommodated by the nation, would turn around to make baseless and unsubstantiated negative assertions on the health of another leader.

“President Buhari may have seen how Nigerians have been registering their disappointment on his resort to personal attacks on former President Obasanjo, instead responding to the germane issues raised by the former President.

“Nigerians have weighed all the concerns by former President Obasanjo, particularly the manifest desperation by the Buhari Presidency to undermine our democratic institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the judiciary and the legislature as well as plots to use security forces to subvert the will of the people at the polls.

“Instead of attacking former President Obasanjo, President Buhari should have been sobered and retrace his steps in the interest of the corporate existence of our country which he is pushing to the precipice.”

The PDP urged President Buhari to note that his “resort to personal attacks on the critics of his administration cannot distract Nigerians from their resolve to rescue our nation from the stranglehold of his administration by voting him out of office, come February 16, 2019.”

Barcelona have confirmed the transfer of Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo.

The deal includes a €8million option to buy, while Barca will pay a €2m loan fee for Boateng, to feature for them the remainder of the season.

The 31-year-old will be presented on Tuesday morning, with a private contract signing set to be followed.

There would also be a photo session on the Camp Nou pitch and a press conference at noon.

A statement on the club’s official website reads:

“Kevin-Prince Boateng is a player who will surely adapt quickly to the team. With experience of playing in four of the biggest leagues in Europe, the Premier League, the Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga, he is a man who has scored goals wherever he has been.

“Furthermore, Boateng is a player who versatile to a fault. During his time with Las Palmas with Quique Setién as coach he played as an out and out striker, a typical number ‘9’. However, he is also able to play further back as he did at AC Milan, scoring twice against Barça in his time with the Rossoneri.

“His ability to bring people into the game means he is excellent at playing behind the main striker.”

The man recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest, Masazo Nonaka, has died at the age of 113 at his home in Ashoro, Japan.

Nonaka was certified as the oldest living man in April of last year, shortly before he celebrated his 113th birthday.

Nonaka died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, family said, at the hot springs inn his family owned and managed for over 106 years.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are set to get married again .They have set the first weekend in March as the date for their second wedding , TMZ reports.

The couple will exchange vows in a religious ceremony that will be held in the Los Angeles area.

The religious pop star and supermodel wed in a civil ceremony at a New York City courthouse in September, but they didn’t view themselves as truly married because they didn’t exchange vows “in the eyes of God,” TMZ reported in October.

The reason the March wedding date is known is because “save the date” emails have gone out to some of the couple’s famous friends, including Jenner and Scott.

Sources familiar with the planning also told TMZ that the March weekend was chosen because March 1 is Bieber’s 25th birthday. The singer wanted to be a “married” man by his next birthday, sources said.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a pair of female underwear in Odoakpu, Onitsha in Anambra State.

The suspect, Chinonye Okorie of Mbaitolu, Imo State, was apprehended with the pant by the police in the area.

Parading the suspect on Thursday at the police headquarters in Amawbia, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, said the suspect stole the pant for alleged ritual purpose.

He said:

“At about 6:48a.m., police detectives attached to Central Police Station (CPS) Onitsha arrested one Chinonye Okorie ‘m’ aged 19 of Ogbaku in Mbaitolu LGA of Imo State.

The suspect allegedly stole a female pant washed and spread on a rope at No. 21 Umuna Street Odoakpu, Onitsha in Anambra State. He intended to sell the pant to yet to be identified persons at the rate of N80,000 for alleged ritual purpose.”

Mohammed added that the pant was recovered from the suspect as exhibit, assuring that efforts were on to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.

“The command implores the general public to be vigilant and report to the nearest police station any suspicious person or persons roaming around their vicinity for prompt action in order to avert this new trend of crime in the society,” he added.

Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo, who are also the presidential and vice-presidential Candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the forthcoming presidential elections will, on Wednesday, at 8:00p.m. participate in a live televised two-hour presidential town-hall program.

This was highlighted in a press release by the APC presidential campaign council, signed by Festus Keyamo, Director, Strategic Communications, APC Presidential Campaign Council, (Official Spokesperson), on Tuesday.

The release, which was made available that the venue will be the Ladi Kwali Conference Center, Ballroom of Sheraton Hotel Abuja and attendance is strictly by invitation.

“All guests are expected to be seated by 7:00pm,” it stated.

“The presidential series, which is titled “The Candidates”, is designed by the organisers to have both the Presidential and their Vice-Presidential Candidates of selected political parties on stage at the same time and at different dates to take questions from the moderator, Kadaria Ahmed, and from the general public through various platforms.

“The programme would be broadcast live on NTA, which shall in turn provide the live feeds to other partner stations like TVC, Wazobia TV, Oak TV and on all Radio Nigeria stations. It will also be streamed on-line at dtv.media to enable Nigerians in diaspora to participate.

“Nigerians are encouraged to kindly tune in to participate,” it further highlighted.

Rihanna is dragging her own father ,Ronald Fenty to court for using her Fenty brand and his relationship to her to launch a business for himself .

TMZ reports that ,Rihanna claims her father, Ronald Fenty, recently started a talent development company in 2017 called Fenty Entertainment.

Rihanna has already trademarked “Fenty” to use in a number of biz ventures, including her well-known Fenty Beauty line. She claims he’s profiting off the reputation she’s created with Fenty.

In the lawsuit docs, Rihanna says her father and a business partner falsely advertised themselves as her reps to solicit millions of dollars, including trying to book her for 15 shows in Latin America in December 2017 for $15 mil … all without her authorization.

Rihanna claims later her dad even unsuccessfully tried to file a trademark for “Fenty” to use with resort boutique hotels.

She says she’s sent multiple cease and desist letters to her father, ordering him to stop capitalizing off of her Fenty trademarks, but says he’s ignored them and continued to make money off of Fenty Entertainment.

She’s asking a judge to place an injunction on her dad using the name Fenty … and, of course, for damages.

Some lawless motorists who drove against traffic along the Murtala Muhammed Airport Road, Ikeja, were, on Monday, apprehended by the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The governor was shocked at the manner some motorists drove ‘one way’ to beat the traffic along the Air-force Base inward International Airport Road, Ikeja.

He was particularly angry that one of the offenders, an army personnel, who drove a space bus with registration number JJJ 290 AC, choose to blatantly contravene the law.

On sighting the vehicle, Ambode alighted from his car and reprimanded the officer for showing bad example contrary to what the Nigeria Army is known for.

Another offender, who drove a saloon car with registration number LSR 445 ER, also got some schooling from the governor for breaking the law regardless of the dangers involved in driving against traffic.

Ambode immediately ordered for the vehicles to be impounded, while also directing that the offenders be prosecuted in line with the provisions of the Traffic Laws

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has disclosed why his side were defeated 2-1 by Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night in the FA Cup encounter.

Goals from Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves ensured Wolves defeated the Reds at Molineux Stadium.

However, Divock Origi did score for the Premier League leaders.

Klopp said Liverpool were defeated by Wolves because some of his players were sick.

Klopp was quoted by Goal as saying at post-match: “After the Man City game, we had immediately a few players who were ill, who showed [a] soar throat and what you can have in this period of the year. So, they were not even in after the City game.

“Pretty much all the players who were not here today had flu problems – apart from Ali [Alisson]. And so we had late changes. Like yesterday Adam [Lallana] was in our plans, Hendo [Jordan Henderson] was in our plans and Dejan was not in our plans, he should only have been on the bench. It happens, what happened. That doesn’t help a lot and we have to change again.

“We wanted to control the game because we were completely new, especially defensively completely new, so it makes sense to keep the ball.”

The defeat to Wolves means Liverpool are now out from FA Cup.
