Federal High Court in Abuja has granted embattled National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, a N400million bail. Olisa is being tried for receiving N400 million from the $2.1 billion arms deal fraud. The judge also ordered Metuh to submit his international passport and that as part of his bail conditions, he must provide two sureties with N200 million each. The sureties must have properties in Maitama district of Abuja.

So to start with, I am not a hater. I do not wish any evil on Don Jazzyor Michael Collins. If anything, I can be categorized as an interested onlooker when I want to be passive or an invested businessman active in the Nigerian music industry for the past 18 years.

In addition, I am a writer. I have been told I am a very decent writer. Or maybe I’m living on past glory. Either way, I had another title I was working with. But I decided this one would attract the eyeballs I desperately need to get the attention I so desperately crave.



Finally, I understand the workings of PR. Hell, I handled the PR of Mo’ Hits in 2006 when the only talent was D’banj. Back then, Wande was a dancer, Dr. Sid (I plead the Fifth) and D’Prince was a model. I do not wish death on Michael Collins. I however think the Don Jazzy brand is dead. Or should be rested. I’ll tell you why.

Do you remember Don Jazzy? Remember that Soundcity advert. I remember the first day I met D’banj and Don Jazzy. This must have been either late 2004 or sometime in 2005. I had been in the business as a journo for a few years by then so I knew them. We had done a story on Mr. Solek at Hip Hop World in 2003. Jazzy had worked as the keyboardist of the band but he had moved on to music production working under JJC. He was very quiet; never uttered a word. You could have been forgiven for thinking he was mute.

Back to the Soundcity advert. Don Jazzy didn’t say a word. Just whispered in D’banj’s ear while D’banj handled his business. It was brand new. It was refreshing. The ratings of the newly-established Soundcity music channel went through the roof. D’banj and Don Jazzy became the perfect example of a match made in heaven. Cobhams, if he could see them back then, would have known they were going places. So much so that Dr. Sid, a University of Ibadan-trained dentist and self-appointed administrator of eLDee’s Trybe Records, was happy to abandon that project and his album project to work under the tutelage of these relatively unknowns.

After that, the communication from the Mo’ Hits camp was that Don Jazzy was the boss. He was being driven around town by a university graduate who earns an enviable salary working in an oil company (Fifth). Jazzy didn’t speak in public. He never granted interviews. He asked simply that whatever you wanted to offer to him should be offered to his ‘children’. (Note that he had been calling his artistes his children since the Mo’ Hits days. Nobody questioned it then because this is the Don we’re talking about here.) In fact, once, I was at the crib of one of the Mo’ Hits people, and he told me I had to leave because Jazzy was coming. I was genuinely curious and somewhat impressed. Impressed because they kept the charade going even off-camera. Curious because, well, so could it be it wasn’t a charade after all?



Remember all those award ceremonies where someone from Mo’ Hits would win an award and spend half the speech time praise-and-worshipping Don Jazzy? Or when Don Jazzy himself would win an award for best production and his wards would mount the stage to receive on his behalf even while he was seated in the front row in the same building. Guys, let’s be honest, these are the images of Don Jazzy that made him the brand he is today. Those days when he only worked with his Mo’ Hits people and a literal handful of associates.

Don Jazzy

In the real world, a don is a crime boss, crime lord, mob boss, kingpin, criminal mastermind; a person in charge of a criminal organization. He typically has absolute or nearly absolute control over his subordinates, is greatly feared by his subordinates for his ruthlessness and willingness to take lives in order to exert his influence, and profits from the criminal endeavours in which his organization engages. Replace the word ‘crime’ with music and you have Don Jazzy.



Mo’ Hits was an organized entity. At the head of it all was Don Jazzy; the Capo di tutt’i capi, the Godfather, the boss of all bosses. Complete with his staff. D’banj was his Underboss. Dr. Sid, being the most educated and exposed of the lot, was the Consigliere. The other artistes were the Caporegimes. The management and the other stragglers and hangers-on were the foot soldiers. In the golden words of Christopher Wallace, “things done changed!”

Fast forward to January 1 2016. Now I am not interested in who was right or who was wrong. For me, the happenings of the early morning January 2 2016 made the Headies. They set the tone for the year. This is entertainment dammit. Are you not entertained?!!!



If you ask me, Don Jazzy had no business speaking to Olamide. I have seen enough Mafia movies to know that no Don that understands his worth would get so emotional as to entertain the thought of passing such a message on a public stage. That job is left to his Consigliere, in this case Dr. Sid, who is already disliked intensely for his supposed role in the Mo’ Hits breakup via the leaked tape. People would have talked. But Jazzy would have maintained his self-respect. He opened himself to ridicule the minute he opened his mouth on that stage.

Don Jazzy

I can trace this handfalling back to when Jazzy decided to start appearing in songs after the bitter divorce from D’banj. The Don Jazzy we knew and respected from a distance fell from heaven and became human. In fact, the Kokomaster showed his disgust over Jazzy’s features after their falling out. I very much doubt this would have happened if they were still together. Not that I think they knew any better then, but they had one script and they kept it simple by sticking to that story.

Of course, with the breakup and the subsequent interviews granted by D’banj, too much information was shared in the public space that caused irreparable damage to the carefully-crafted Don Jazzy image. I think Don Jazzy should have moved on to the next stage. Or developed a next stage to move to. He certainly should not have done Loya or Konga or Jantamanta (wtf?) as Don Jazzy. That’s not the Don Jazzy we were introduced to.



In truth, while we loved and respected Don Jazzy for his mystique, his music-making prowess and his relationship with D’banj, there was only so much he could achieve as a brand. However, this new guy is fun, is funny, seems to be humble, is extremely generous and, as such, is an endorsement magnet getting business from an endless list of companies. As it should be. As a businessman, it makes every sense for Michael Collins to be this new guy with access to millions of advertising dollars. But he cannot expect to eat his cake and have it. Something has to give!

Standing among forty other suspects arrested over various crimes ranging from robbery, rape, impersonation and cultism, at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja , Wednesday, was an under-aged boy whose appearance struck this reporter. Judging from his fragile frame to his malnourished looks, coupled with an expression of fear on his light skinned face, nothing would have passed him for any of the offences listed against him.

But during an interaction with Crime Guard, 16-year-old Babajide Akiola, as he later identified him, confirmed that facial looks could be deceptive, following his admittance to belonging to a dreaded cult group that has been terrorising Satellite Town, in Amuwo Odofin local government area of Lagos.

He further opened a can of worms on activities of members of various cult

groups in the area. Most startling was the revelation that children as young as ten years old are initiated into the various cult groups in Satellite Town. By the way, Sattelitte Town was set up by the Lagos State government in early 1960 to help low income earners own their own houses, with some of the areas allocated to oil workers and private buyers .

Along the line, illegal structures were built in the area, which unfortunately have turned the area which was once known to be an estate into a slum, with the prevalent activities of cultists holding sway. In this interaction with Akiola, a Secondary School Certificate holder, he revealed that , primary school pupils and secondary school students , including artisans in the area were forced into cultism. Attempt by anyone approached to put up resistance according to him, meant the out right relocation of the child’s parent from the area.

He further disclosed that children between 10 and 13 years who were initiated into major confraternity groups such as Arrow Baga popularly known as Arrow, were sent as spies on their rivals. The children as gathered were also sent to survey places like the massive Navy barracks before their ‘masters’ would strike.

How I was forced into Eiye confraternity

Giving an instance with his case, he revealed that he was approached right from the age of 10 to join the Eiye confraternity group. According to him “ When the pressure was too much, I had no choice than to give in . My father was an okada rider (motorcyclist). He was never at home. There was no one I could approach when the pressure to join Eiye was much on me . Even if I had approached my father, he would not have done anything because everyone is afraid of the cult guys. He would be forced to pack out of the area and he didn’t have the financial strength to do so.

In one of the occasions, one of them, Samuel seized my phone and my shoe. I went home barefooted. As if that was not enough, I was beaten to a pulp by members of the cult group, for committing no offence. I eventually joined Eiye confraternity in 2013, shortly after I finished my secondary school eduction.

Initiation

After my secondary school education , my father said I should go and work as an apprentice under a vulcanizer. On the day of the initiation, I was taken to a lonely area around waterside,where I was blindfolded. Thereafter, they beat me and poured alcohol in my eyes . My position in the group is called ‘Tender’ . This is the least position. My job is to spy on rival group members, particularly during fight and give their location to our members before they would strike. At first, no one knew I was a cultist because I was not moving with the known members. But later, my boss got to know and dismissed me”.

Graduated to robbery

Along the line, I lost my father. By the way , my mother was separated from my late dad. She abandoned me and my two siblings with my father. When my father died, I travelled to the village in Ondo state to see my mother but she never welcomed me as a mother would welcome a child she had not seen for long. Rather, she called me names and sent me away, saying it was impossible for me to stay with her because she had remarried

Thereafter, I went to my grandmother who told me to join my two other siblings with her to farm. But I refused because of the hardship there. She gave me N3000 to rent an apartment in Lagos . When I returned to Lagos, I went to stay with a friend who is also member of same cult.

Most robbery cases in Satellite Town and its environs were carried out by cultists. I only participated in the morning raids ,where those leaving for their respective business places are attacked and dispossessed of their cash, phones and other valuables. At the end of each operation, I usually got between N1500 and N3000. I have never handled a gun because I am only a ‘Tender’ .

Killings enhance promotion

Akiola , further disclosed that series of fight in the area were caused by rival cultists. He gave names of some of two major volatile cult groups in the area as

Eiye and Arrow .

“We usually had problems with the Arrow boys, over supremacy . So many persons have died during such clashes in both camps.

Our hit men are refereed to as flyers and Adaba . To graduate from the position of ‘Tender’ to ‘Flyer’ or ‘Adaba’ , it requires human blood. Anyone that can kill three persons at a go during fight with rival cult groups automatically becomes a ‘flyer ‘ or an ‘Adaba’. But I don’t have the mind to kill. The day I was tempted to ask what else can be done to graduate to the next level was when I saw a 10 year-old boy who was already an ‘Adaba ‘ . He came to where I was standing with other members and cleared me off from the ground simply because I did not pay him homage . He ordered me to lie flat and used my back as a leg rest. That was to show me that he was senior to me in rank”.Asked what the name of the 10 year-old boy was, he said he never dared to ask him.

Continuing he said “I was told that the alternative way to rise to the next level was to undergo another round of initiation which involved payment of N15,000. Aside that , I was told that a herbalist would be invited , who would mix cassava flakes otherwise known as garri with rice and would ask me to sort out the rice like a bird. Thereafter, I would be taken to Ibasa, a river bank where the real initiation which include severe beating would be done. I was told that several persons did not pass that stage as they died in the process and their bodies thrown inside the river.

I decided to remain in my position as a ‘Tender ‘ because I didn’t have N15,000 to pay and I was also not ready for another round of beating”. He revealed that areas prone to cult activities included Tambolo village, Ibasa, across the river, Bale, Ijegun, Egba, waterside, Fire Service around barracks,among other places.

Arrested

Akiola further stated that members of his confraternity group usually attended parties whether invited or not, adding that on their way back, they would accost unsuspecting persons who were going to their respective places of work. Luck however ran against them on December 29, 2015 , following the arrest of four suspected members, while operating at Chemist bus-stop.

Akiola said “ Bolaji was with weere((gun ) on that day. He used it to scare our victims. But we did not know that policemen were around. I regret joining a confraternity group. In fact, I feel like dying because I am not prepared to go to jail . If I am let off the hook, I will return to my grand-mother in the village and join my siblings in farming. Crime Guard gathered that some leaders of the cult groups were killed by policemen during shoot-out while operating.

The suspects, according to the Commissioner of Police , Mr Fatai Owoseni would be charged to court.

Village justice was meted to a woman after she was caught cheating on her husband with her nephew. The incident took place in a Cajarmaca, a small indigenous community in northern Peru. The woman was whipped by a village elder after being accused of seducing her 20-year-old nephew while her husband was away working in Spain.



A video of the public punishment shows the woman, bending over as one of the female leaders of the community lifts up her skirt and hits her backside with a stick.

'Bend over, stay still!', shouts her discipliner as she tries to move away from the blows, before another man runs over to hold her in place.


The woman bends over again, though she continues to flinch as her behind is savagely whipped.
Her nephew was also beaten when he tried to rescue his aunt and lover by climbing in to what he thought was her home, he picked the wrong house, he was spotted by its residents and accused of being a burglar.

According to one of the young women living in the house, they found the young man on their property at around 5am and beat him up.

Motorists in Liege, Belgium were stunned to see a sperm whale being transported on a flatbed truck, The whale which appeared to be smiling was being delivered to Liège Theatre as part of the stage dressing for their presentation of Herman Melville’s classic whale tale Moby Dick.

Former Chairman of PDP’s Board Of Trustees, Tony Anenih has written a letter to the EFCC explaining how he got and shared N260 million from embattled former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki. According to the Nation, Anenih in his letter stated that he received the money from Dasuki’s office and shared it as instructed but never benefited from it.

A source at EFCC stated that Anenih in the letter said of the N260 million he received, he gave N63 million to a group coordinated by a former Special Assistant to former President Shehu Shagari, Tanko Yakassai, for the 2015 presidential election.



“Chief Tony Anenih has written the EFCC on how he disbursed N260million from ONSA to various groups including a team being coordinated by Tanko Yakassai. Anenih specifically indicated in the letter that N63million was given to Yakassai’s group. He mentioned a few others whose identities we will not disclose until our investigation has reached an appreciable stage. We will unveil the names of all the beneficiaries of the N260million soon. But we are at a level that we need to invite Yakassai to shed more light on why his group was allocated N63million arms funds. Besides the letter, we will invite Anenih to make a Statement on Oath and for interrogation.”he said

44-year-old Mohammed Raees Makani who has been a car mechanic for fifteen years from India has no formal education and cannot read or write but this has not stopped him from accomplishing a scientific feat of epic proportions. He claims to have designed a car that runs on water.b



He has been modifying an 800 cc engine for the last five years – and now believes he has made the scientific breakthrough.

The car uses a mix of water and carbide which at just under two pence a litre is far more cost effective than traditional fossil fuels. Markani, from the state of Madhya Pradesh, said:

“The car runs on acetylene gas , which is formed from a chemical reaction between calcium carbide and water. The gas is used for several industrial purposes including welding and portable lighting for miners. But in my case, I am using it to propel the car engines. I have made other changes to the engines, which helps the overall performance of the car. So basically, it is just about the water. This idea struck my mind while I was gas welding a part of my car in my workshop many years ago. But I did not know how to go about it,” Markani said. “Somehow, I made a start and it took five years to make this efficient engine.” Not only does he now possess a patent for his groundbreaking invention, he has been invited by Chinese automobile companies to further develop the idea, but for companies looking to cash in on his work, he has a catch; any plant to make new cars will be established only in his hometown in Madhya Pradesh. Markani said: “I want things to change in my hometown. So this is where my work should continue.”

Well there’s Another development as Yesterday, rapper Vector sort of responded to Ycee’s diss on his Instagram page. The ‘King Kong’ rapper posted the selfie he shared with rappers Olamide and
Reminisce who were also nominated for the Headies 2015 Best Rap Single.



“The thought to share the moment with fellow nominated hard workers ( @baddosneh and @iamreminisce in the review year,” Vector wrote.
“(Shouts to @illblisstheboss and@iamlord_tr for holding up rap too). The pic isn’t the best (lol). But the moment was real.”

And then he had words for those hating on him.

Though he didn’t name names, we already know that there was just one ‘hater’ who dissed him during his performance at the award event – the ‘Jagaban’ rapper, Ycee.

“I’m not the type to be against the progress of the movement so let all the hating miss me with the bullSh!t,” Vector concluded his post, adding, “ #greatness is greatness and let #God take all the #glory”
Vector’s fans dragged YCEE all over Twitter and IG streets, and it didn’t come as a surprise when he deleted the post.

“When I opened my social media accounts this morning, it was humbling for me to see that so many people believe that I deserve recognition for the work I was able to do last year by the grace of God. But like Thomas a Kempis famously wrote; “Man proposes, but God disposes”.

To see that fans across different social audiences appreciate the efforts I put into making my music is one I will never look down upon, no award beats that, and I hope to be able to repay this confidence in good time.



My fans have been the most amazing source of inspiration for me, and I promise never to let you down. From the days when I was nobody in this industry, to song after song that you have helped become hits, I say God bless you for all the support.

To be honest, it was quite heartbreaking to find out that I did not get the particular recognition I so much craved, but I am excited that it only means I need to work harder, and that 2016 will be a bigger year for me.

I also found out I was one of the top 5 Google Top Trending Nigerian Musicians. For an artiste with less than 10 songs to my name, I think this is enough for me to congratulate myself upon.

This year 2016 is going to be bigger and better; my debut album drops this year, and with the work put into it by myself, my team, and that of the artistes magnanimous enough to feature on it, I am positive that this will be the year.

I also want to use this opportunity to tell the fans to look out for the forthcoming single of my label mate and brother “Sugarboy” dropping in few days from now, as we at G-Worldwide Entertainment will continue to bring you good music.

My name is Dr. Spice, I'm an artiste. Before now I didn't think I would have wanted to make public how wicked and selfish Burna boy is, until now. Burna boy's road manager gave me a call early July, and told me Burna wanted to sign me to his record label, Spaceship. Two weeks later, I moved in to his house. I've had dreadlocks since 2013 and the first day he saw me, he went out and came back home with dreadlocks. Suddenly he started putting one hair in front, exactly the way I usually kept mine.

I featured Burna boy sometime last year May and we paid him N750,000 for the feature. We waited till march this year when myself and the former UK label (Bard Music) had raised N1.150 million naira intended for the music video. Unfortunately we paid the money to Burna boys company, to help us contact a video director. Since march this year Burna boy has been posting the video shoot, until I found out he had eaten the money. They intended to sue him if he doesn't refund the money.

A Police Corporal, Ali Christopher, who accidentally fired and killed 2 nursing mothers on 27 June, 2015, at a funeral in Fugar town, in Edo State, has been dismissed from the Force.
A Orderly Room Trial set up by the State Command of Nigerian Police Force which found him guilty, recommended his dismissal and trial for murder.
Corporal Ali Christopher with Force No. 444040 was until his dismissal, attached to the Auchi Area Commander’s office.
Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Stephen Onwochei, confirmed the dismissal of the erring officer to journalists in Benin, adding that the case “has been thoroughly dealt with. Two police officers were arrested. At the end of investigations, one officer was found to be culpable.

“That person has been tried in Orderly room, he is a corporal, and as I speak with you he has been dismissed. Hopefully by next week he shall appear in court.”
The Edo police spokesman who advised police officers to be guided by Force Order 237 which spells out the use of arms by officers, also appealed to members of the public to always keep a reasonable distance from any officer bearing arms.

The dismissed policeman allegedly fired his gun, one of the bullets narrowly missed a 2-month-old baby who was strapped to the back of its mother before hitting the mother on her neck.
The victim was identified as Sandra Imhaku,
reportedly lost her husband last year while expecting the baby. She was said to have been rushed to Irrua Specialist Hospital, Irrua, where she died the following day.
The second victim simply identified as Mrs. Saliu, an indigene of Fugar, came from Warri, Delta State with her husband to attend the funeral of her in-law, one late Mr. Itu Joseph when the incident occurred.
