ASUU on strike again? Is this weapon still working? How many of these people we call leaders have their children in any of these Universities that will be affected? Even Lecturers in our universities now prefer to send their children to universities abroad or private Universities here. How does closing our Universities directly affect Yar'adua or Sam Egwu? This is 2009 for heaven sake, 21st Century. EFCC arrests VC with N6m cash in his bedroom culled from Nigerian Compass, June 24 2009 •N500m fraud rocks varsity •Bursar spends N110,000 on recharge cards •Fake receipts issued for N25m collected from students •Another official indicted MONTHS after he was asked to go home on suspension, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested the embattled Vice-Chancellor, of the Imo State University, Professor Chuka Okonkwo, over an alleged N500 million fraud. The anti-graft agency confirmed the arrest yesterday. Also arrested with Okonkwo are the Bursar of the institution, Mrs. U.A Nwogu, and one other person. According to a source at the commission’s Abuja office, the VC was arrested with huge sums of money in his bedroom. The source put the denomination of the currencies seized in Okonkwo’s room during a search conducted by the operatives as: N4.554 million, $11,203 and 700 euros. The Nigerian Compass learnt that the VC allegedly collected N25 million, being the proceeds of the N5,000 paid by each of the graduating students of the school. Said the source: “I can confirm to you that the Imo State Vice-Chancellor, the school Bursar and one other senior official are with us over alleged fraud totalling about half a billion. “The EFCC, acting on information, stormed the school campus and arrested the VC after being interrogated. “We searched his bedroom and recovered N4.554 million, $11,203 and 700 euros. Cash deposit slips of huge sums of money were also recovered. At the time of arrest, he operated nine bank accounts with four banks. “He also unilaterally awarded contracts without due process. He awarded a N20 million contract to buy six cars. He approved for himself and collected N12 million to renovate his lodge without any sign of renovation of the building. “Without the approval of the school Council, he connived with the Bursar to use fake receipts to extort N5,000 each from graduating students of the school. “The amount so far collected is N25 million which was not paid into the school account. He claimed that the money is with one of his friends. “He approved N110,000 for the Bursar to buy recharge cards”, the source said. According to investigations, the EFCC chairperson, Mrs. Farida Waziri, has given the commission’s legal team a nod to file charges against the trio. The spokesman of the commission, Mr. Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest and promised to give further details. |

nateevs:Hello every1, its been long the last time i visited here. Work is taking the important time of myself. I am far behind on this thread, i hope to catch up soonest. @ Nateevs, Sorry for the lost, may God give you the fortitude to bear the lost. Welcome back, your contribution is very vital. |
fesse:@ fesse, I see critics in your post. You said some muslims, can you mention a few? Your last sentence is better off. |
visitor30:@ Visitor Yes i was at the website and i am a member now. Its kool but i have not really explore the website very well. Will take my time one night (coz of day distractions) and see what it has to offer. Once again thak you very much. We want people like you & Nateevs in this forum, we could possibly hook up on yahoo messenger, msn or skype if you dont mind. nateevs:@ Nateevs, Thank you for your active post and contribution to this forum, we shall all live to benefit from it. Yes talking about having my own lab is a wish which everyone will love to have. It is not easy though but you dream it first, plan and set your mind towards it. As for the software you mentioned, once can do that if he/she is exposed to them. I heard about dynamips when my boss resumed in our office last year from CBN. If not that, maybe this forum would be the first place i will hear it. Even with that, i have it downloaded on my laptop but dont know how to use it. Your video has helped to some extent and i think am getting along now. We learners need more of this stuffs to be confortable since we dont have access to live routers & switches. All assistance and effort to support will be appreciated and i will spread the same around too. Knowledge and information is power. We could hook up on yahoo messenger. msn or skype if you dont mind. Sorry, my reply came late. I was actually re-locating from Abuja to Lagos. Regards |
nateevs:@Nateevs What i mean by hands-on is having access to routers/switches to configure. Its not enough to read them on text books but to play around with this mentioned devices. I don't know the cost out of 9ja but its absolutely expensive here. Yes, i would love to have my own Lab but my brother e no easy at all. |
yahoo!:@ Yahoo I wish you luck in your forthcoming exam. However, i will advice you stick to nateevs's advice. nateevs:@ nateevs Like i mentioned early in one of my reply, the main challenges we in 9ja have here is hands on. I know i can prepare on my own and complete my CCSP. I have written 1 exam, 3 more to go but i still need hands on. This is the constrain i know most Nigerians have. I hope this will come to an end soonest. |
nateevs:Yes, it is true i contributed to that but that is what i read. I have not use Dynamips for once although i have tried all i could to search for it online but no luck. Challenges i face is Cisco hardwares & books. I like to read and put whatever i read into practise. Hope i can get over my problem someday. Keep the good work on, God will reward you as you assist. Do u have an ideal of BCS? |

I work in IT department of one of the leading PFA in Abuja, Nigeria. Sometimes last year (November to be precised) i approached DiamondBank for a loan which they promise to give upon meeting the requirement. I met all and we agreed to on postdated check for the duration of the loan. A day after the lady came back with another story that i must open a current account with minimum of 5,000. I complied with her because i need the cash. She however told me it will take just 2 days upon approval. A month after (December), she told me that the loan was not approved. She came out to tell me after much threat with phone calls and promise to go see the branch manager. After this, i didnt argue with her and had it in mind to close the account. I was at the branch yesterday to close my account, firstly i checked my balance and the lady told me 3,974. I didnt argue with because i know what my plans are, there on the spot i ordered for closure of my account. The lady told me of some deductions which i agreed upon. After all the deduction, the amount to go home with is 3,215. A draft was raised in the amount in question and was asked to cash it downstairs. You wont believe the erroruesly paid me N300,215. I was shaking and had to call his attention that i am not expecting such amount. The guy was confused and quickly withdraw the cash. I should have gone with the money because i am dam broke and needed cash. However, i realise i will put the poor dude in trouble because i know the boy is on contract and his salary might not be more than 50k. I know what banks can do for that reason i spare the guy. One mind told me i did the wright thing but the other mind said to me i bleeped up (knowing fully well how broke i am, especially now that i am going out ot job). I have not recovered from the shock because if i had gone with the money it will help a great deal but what do i stand to gain putting a fellow guy like me in trouble to enjoy the cash. Wise nairalanders, please tell me if i have done the wright thing or wrong. Although if what i did was wrong i cant go back their and claim the money. I need to hear 4rm u. |
@ Nateevs, Thank for your reply. I'm sorry my message came late, i was actually busy. The major problem is hardware and access to materials. Is there any assistance/support you can give? Hope to read from you soon. Regards |
@ Nateevs, What a good thread, i must comend you for your effort. Does anyone know where i can tain for CCSP in Abuja base on part time (i.e. weekends). I will quite appreciate it if i can get contacts. |
I have a project I want to conduct if people would help; I know someone will run with the idea to start it by their own. We can actually use a VSAT from London and beam data to another VSAT in Nigeria and provide a more cheaper or even free Internet access with lots of bandwidth.

Can we get talking? Planning of setting up Wifi in somolu soon. You can email me at lateeph@gmail.com or laticares@yahoo.com. Hope to read from you soon. |

sunboy:SYMPTOMS When you attempt to start Microsoft Windows XP, the black startup screen may be briefly displayed, and then your computer restarts repeatedly. CAUSE This behavior can occur if the following conditions exist: • A fatal system error (STOP error) causes the computer to stop. • The Automatically restart option is selected under System failure in the Startup and Recovery dialog box in System Properties. • The Windows XP paging file is smaller than the amount of physical memory that is installed on the computer, or there is insufficient free space on the hard disk to write the error dump file (Memory.dmp). Windows XP may encounter a problem during startup that results in a STOP error message. Depending on the system configuration, the blue screen may not be displayed long enough for you to record the error information. RESOLUTION To work around this issue, alter the startup process so that you can gather important information about the STOP error message. To do this, use the following methods in the order in which they are presented. NOTE: Before you attempt these workarounds, try to restart your computer in safe mode. This may allow you to troubleshoot the STOP error message. Method 1 1. Try to replace the registry hives from the repair directory by using the Recovery Console, and then restore the system to a current state with System Restore. For additional information about how to restore the registry, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: Method 2 Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 1. Install Windows XP to a different folder. 2. Click Start, and then click Run. 3. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK. 4. Browse to the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 5. On the File menu, click Load Hive. 6. Navigate to the System file in the original Windows XP installation location. By default, the System file is stored in the following location: %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\System 7. Type an arbitrary name when you are prompted for a key name in the Load Hive dialog box. The original HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive is loaded as a subkey of the current key. 8. In the arbitrary name key (where arbitrary name is the name that you assigned the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry key from the original Windows installation), browse to the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\CrashControl 9. In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, double-click AutoReboot. 10. In the Value data box, type 0 (zero), and then click OK. 11. Click the minus sign to collapse the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry subkey. 12. On the File menu, click Unload Hive. 13. On the File menu, click Exit. This disables the Automatically restart option in the original Windows XP installation. After you follow these steps, you may be able to gather information from the STOP error message and resolve the problem that prevents the computer from starting. Method 3 Another workaround may be necessary if the minimum size of the paging file is set to a value less than the amount of physical memory. Windows XP requires a paging file on the system drive large enough to hold all physical memory plus 1 megabyte (MB), in order to write debugging information. You can modify the PagingFiles value of the original installation so that the dump file can be created by the STOP error message. Enough free disk space must be available on the system drive for the paging file. To change the PagingFiles value in the System file in the original Windows XP installation location, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK. 3. Browse to the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE 4. On the File menu, click Load Hive. 5. Navigate to the System file in the original Windows XP installation location. By default, this is stored in the following location: %SystemRoot%\System32\Config\System 6. Type an arbitrary name when you are prompted for a key name in the Load Hive dialog box. This loads the original HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive as a subkey of the current key. 7. In the arbitrary name key (where arbitrary name is the name that you assigned the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry key from the original Windows installation), browse to the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management 8. In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, double-click PagingFiles. 9. In the Value data box, edit the first numeric value after c:\pagefile.sys (where c: is the drive on which the pagefile is stored) to increase it to a number that is at least 1 MB greater than the amount of physical memory in the computer. NOTE: Do not type a number that is greater than the amount of free hard disk space on the computer. For example, the following value displays a minimum paging file size of 130 MB and a maximum paging file size of 256 MB. c:\pagefile.sys 130 256 10. Click OK. 11. Browse to the following location in the registry hive that you loaded from the original Windows installation: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\CrashControl 12. In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, double-click CrashDumpEnabled. 13. Type 1 (one) in the Value data box if it is not already present, and then click OK. 14. Click the minus sign to collapse the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry subkey. 15. On the File menu, click Unload Hive. 16. On the File menu, click Exit. 17. Attempt to start the original Windows XP installation. When the STOP error occurs, the memory dump information will be stored in the paging file. 18. Restart the computer and select the parallel installation of Windows XP. This allows the dump file to be created and you may be able to use the information to resolve the problem that causes the STOP error message in the original installation. NOTE: The dump file is saved in the %SystemRoot%\Memory.dmp file, where %SystemRoot% is the parallel installation system folder. 19. Click Start, right click My Computer, and then click Properties. 20. Click the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery. 21. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box, click OK, and then click OK again. 22. Restart the computer. When you attempt to shut down the computer, the exact message should be displayed. Good Luck. Hit me on 08020579189 if you care to ask futher Qs. Reards |
