Amml270: How long it will take to register on Belgium Mine took about 4 months I guess a week or two. But I think it depends on the city. If it’s a populated one then it can take quite a long time to get an appointment and then the whole process. |

Amml270: Oh that's a way forward bro. I got mine in 12 working days. Yesterday. You see last time I asked you if the marriage is registered in Belgium. You basically need to register it in Belgium then it will go smoothly. Yes thank you. Registering it would have made it so swift. And they’ve been really responsive from the embassy. And congratulations bro |

Amml270: Anny good news brother? Oh thank you for keeping tabs bro. So I got an email directly from the French consulate asking for some additional paperwork so as to process my application. A proof that we’ve got our marriage registered in her home country. So I’m working on that at the moment. |

Amml270: For type c visa . It should not have take more than 15 working days Exactly! It’s not like I’m applying for a D national visa. Even if they had to do further investigation, 45 days is the max. Norway issued the same visa under the same category in 3 days. I decided to use France coz of the proximity which is the reason why I’m suspecting they are delaying it. |

Amml270: Call them and ask all those foreigners that picked the call to pass the call to the consulate or ask your wife to email them directly or call them they will respond When she emailed them, all she revived was an automated message telling her that they don’t disclose the status of applications. And when we called the number on their website, the response we got that they can’t have anything to say because the number is for French citizens in Nigeria alone. They are not being helpful at all. I’ll have to call again today |

I wanna ask if there’s a way I can reach the French consulate if I want to discontinue my application. I had contact TLS so many times and they couldn’t help at all. It’s going to be two months in couple of days since I applied and for a type C visa, the time frame is way too long. Belgium will start receiving applications back by July 22 and I’ll love to submit my passport with them but I can’t do anything with my passport still with the French consulate and no sign of them returning it back soon |

Amml270: Ohh it should not have take so long then. It means they are doing some investigation on your marriage 7 week is too long for short stay visa Yes it’s super weird and I wish I had their non automated email. |

Amml270: Is your marriage already registered in Belgium? Nah just legalized at their embassy here in Nigeria. The requirement doesn’t mandate it to be registered in the home country before applying |

yerilistik: Sorry about this. Like i stated earlier, it would have been better and more straightfoward you applied through Belgium since your spouse resides there. However, the fact that it has taken this long, 7 weeks, makes me think they are likely to grant you the visa just that they are probably liasing with Belgian authorities to do some verifications before taking a decision. A refusal ll not usually take this long unless after investigations they find that you guys were not properly married. Just calm down and continue to excercise patience Thank you so much. I believed the verification made it tarry and Hoping for the best. |

Amml270: You should have applied through Belgium first They will see it suspicious. That's why it took so much time They. Are making some investigation. But no fear sha . It will be hard for them to refuse you like thst Belgium wasn’t taking any applications for like two months due to one network ish. Now they just announced they will resume back by July 22. If I knew France won’t adhere to their 15 days wait, I wouldn’t have apply. Even Spain with tougher restrictions dey issue am in two weeks under the same directive. Make them jus give me my passport back i dey pray. |

Amml270: And why are you going to Europe through France? Does your partner reside in France permanently.? If you are not careful it could take longer. From experience sha She doesn’t live in France. We decided to visit France together coz the EU spouse route is quite easy. And the address on the letter is her home country address. What do you think I could do? |

Nonamexxx: Email the consulate about your passport. Tell them it's been been over 7 weeks. I hope it's not that they've even returned it and you weren't notified. Email consulate, not TLScontact like you did the first time. When I emailed the consulate, the reply I got was that they don’t give the status of the application I would have to go through TLS. I called TLS as well and the lady that picked was surprised as well but she told me they haven’t receive my passport yet. |
Travel › Re: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by Nicholasguzy: 6:14pm On Jul 08, 2024 |
yerilistik: It can be refused depending on the category you are applying from. For example, there is what is called "regroupement familial" which is the main route to relocate and join a legal french resident and the demand for this kind of visa is initiated right from France. However, if it's just to visit and return back then you have to apply under tourist family visa and get attestation d'accueuil from the city mayor where the resident lives (the resident will just go thier city mayor and request for it, the mayor office may send people to verify his/her accommodation first before granting the document and this document costs about 30 euros to be bought as stamp. The requirements for these different types of visa are different and once you submit all the required documents of the category you applied and they approve them then your chances of getting the visa are good. A practical example of how they can refuse you the visa : if you want to use a smart way (tourist route) to relocate and join your family member and they figure it out from your application then surely the application will be refused. Hope you get it?
Modified : if spouse is french citizen, your chances of being refused the visa are very slim provided you provide all required documents and you are not in a polygamous marriage (stated on thier website). There is special visa for French family members and you have to apply for that visa and supply the required documentations I submitted mine under the spouse of an EU citizen and with lesser documents but they are taking so long with the decision .it’s the 7th week now and I hope if there’s a way one can withdraw one’s application |

Hello sir.. you advised me on this last year and I got married to my Belgian spouse around November last year. She went back and got everything in order and I’ll love to start my application this month. Sir I’ll so much appreciate it if you can advise me on how to apply under directive 2004/ex/58. Thank you very much pansophist: It would be hard, but visiting her is easy.
But If you will like to visit her, I can advise you on how to get a visa under "directive 2004/ec/58", without paying anything, except for Uber when you go to submit and pick your visa after two weeks,
but that's only if you guys are truly married or for those that have other kinds of relationship with Europeans (eg parents and kids). |
Travel › Re: Anyone Studying In Belgium? by Nicholasguzy: 7:53am On Jan 24, 2024 |
Hello. I’d love to ask a question regarding this. I got married to a Belgian citizen late last year and I’ll love to start the whole paper process but I’m unsure of the best route to start the whole thing. Please I’ll appreciate if you can shine more light on this on how to start. Thanks optimusprime2: This situation is tricky and wholly depends on your academic funding source... but most importantly try to understand that Belgium is not like the US, UK and the likes when it comes to dependent spouses on a study permit. Your spouse is also to be given a long stay D visa, which means he/she has to apply wholly for a long stay alongside your own application... basically everything (apart from academic enrolment) that you submit, he/she has to submit too.
Now the tricky part as I mentioned earlier, lies on "Funding". Tricky in the sense that; your spouse should not give an isolated form of funding, it has to be connected to you-Because you are the one who is going for studies not your spouse. Based on that, your spouse shouldn't submit an isolated Annex32 or blocked account without it being connected to you.
If you are on a Flemish scholarship, then it's almost not possible to attach a dependent based on agreements/undertakings "You" sign that pertains to you as the sole benefactor of a scholarship.
(If done together) If you use an annex 32, asides the fact that a lot of Authenticated and legalised paperwork has to be provided to support the application, please note that the financial requirements for the guarantor become double the value, i.e 800Euros/month x 2. However that's only one side of the coin, even if the financials are met, it might be permitted but not guaranteed- if your spouse does not justify a credible reason why he/she needs to accompany you (remember you submit your enrolment letter for the Annex 32, your spouse also needs to submit a written letter alongside marriage Documents requesting to accompany you)
(If done together) Most likely, a blocked account (about 20,000Euros if I am not mistaken) is more advised in this instance as the paperwork required would not be as super-sized as the Annex32. However your spouse would still need a covering letter regardless.
In my opinion I advise your spouse to also apply for an academic program and tag along with you, as since the requirements for the visa application will be almost the same thing for both of you, why not go for a value added option for your spouse? |

Okay sir. We actually got married months ago and she just left for Belgium. I’ve legalized our marriage certificate already at the embassy last week . I waited till she went back before I come back to this thread. I will so much appreciate if you can explain further on this pansophist: It would be hard, but visiting her is easy.
But If you will like to visit her, I can advise you on how to get a visa under "directive 2004/ec/58", without paying anything, except for Uber when you go to submit and pick your visa after two weeks,

thanks for this and i truly appreciate. but please is there a way the visit visa can be eventually turned to a permanent stay and the maximum duration of the visit visa? and finally would it be advisable to wait and apply for the D visa per adventure the visit visa can not be turned to a permanent one. Thanks boss pansophist: It would be hard, but visiting her is easy.

Ok sir i wanna ask if her monthly income of around 1500 after tax wont be an obstacle when im about to start applying and the fact that she just got healed from a brain tumor and the hospital she worked at as a nurse pays her the said 1500 monthly. pansophist: Why not ask your question directly? It's too ambiguous to answer. |
Travel › Re: Finland Japa by Nicholasguzy: 3:42pm On Mar 09, 2023 |
boss i will need your help on this. i got married to a belgian couple of weeks ago. please is there any steps you know that one can do to ensure it all goes smoothly pansophist: The biggest misconception about Japa is the idea that you must spend millions. It is not. You can have millions to show on your bank statement, but you don't have to spend millions. It may just happen that you only have to spend on the application fee, depending on the category you applied for.
For example, if you are a family member of a European citizen, then you don't have to show your bank statement, submit proof of flight, or hotel, or that you are coming back to Naija, and the application fee is free. You are literally just going to collect a visa without stress. In fact on the Schengen visa application form, it is written there that EU family members should not fill in that area. And the visa must be issued within two weeks at the latest.
And guess what? the embassy cannot deny you. It's against the law. They can deny it in exceptional circumstances such as you have ebola that can infect the public or a serial killer with the hobby of blowing up stations and airports. Even if you have been banned from entering Europe, your status as a child, spouse, or parent of an EU citizen redeems you and invalidates the ban.
If you have any family with an EU passport, you are a lucky child. Just go and ask the embassy for your visa.
But if you do not have an EU relative, then go through school. Don't go as a visitor, you will suffer eh? As a student, you just buy time for yourself like two years or more (depending on degree length, so you can know your way around, and find a legal route to make your stay permanent. |
