European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Breaking News - Arsenal FC Postpones Preseason Game In Nigeria by nicolbuffet(op): 7:53pm On Jul 05, 2012
Arsenal FC has postponed the pre- season game against the national team of Nigeria.

The club just released a statement to that effect:

Arsenal Football Club has announced it is reluctantly postponing its proposed trip to Nigeria this summer.

The Club has taken the decision as a result of complexities linked to the planned game against Nigeria on Saturday, August 5 in Abuja.

Arsenal marketing director Angus Kinnear said: "Bringing a top-level club to an international market is always complicated and logistically challenging. With the proposed match in Nigeria planned for early August, we could not get comfortable on everything needed to satisfy our requirements, so we have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone the team’s visit."

Kinnear continued: “We have a huge and loyal following in Africa, and we are sorry that the team will not be visiting this summer. However, we have a long-term commitment to Nigeria and we are already making plans for a visit next summer.

"In addition, we also have some exciting forthcoming activities planned with our commercial partners in Nigeria - Emirates, Airtel and Malta Guinness, which will kick off in the next few weeks.”

Emirates are the presenting partner of the Arsenal 2012 Tour and Boutros Boutros, divisional senior vice-president of corporate communications said: “Emirates shares Arsenal’s disappointment that the team’s visit to Nigeria has been postponed. We look forward to working with Arsenal to bring the Club closer to its loyal Nigerian fans through new initiatives over the coming months.”

PoliticsFacebook Changes Every User's Email To @facebook.com by nicolbuffet(op): 8:57pm On Jun 27, 2012
Facebook has now made another major change to their settings. If you have an account with Facebook, then your email has been changed to @facebook.com

The new change is expected to annoy a lot users around the world especially those who use their email as part of thier brand.

The changes raised users’ suspicions. By hiding other email addresses Facebook can keep its already-captive audience even more captive. Sending an email to a Facebook.com address will land the email in the messages section of a user’s Facebook profile. The more people use Facebook to communicate, the more the company can target ads based on the conversations they have on its platform – just as Google targets ads to Gmail users based on text in their emails.

If you would like to learn how to change your email back or hide the new facebook email then visit : http://www.michaelokeje.com/2012/06/how-to-change-your-facebook-emails-to.html

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Arsenal Agree Yann Mvilla Deal, Steve Bould To Replace Pat Rice by nicolbuffet(op): 12:23pm On May 08, 2012
Arsenal looks set to sign France's midfielder, Yann MVilla, a deal has already been agreed between Rennes and Arsenal. Yann looks set to become Arsenal's next signature after Lucas Podolski signed for the club. The deal is worth 22 million euros.

source: http://www.michaelokeje.com/2012/05/arsenal-agree-yann-mvilla-deal-steve.html

The Sun UK Reports :

Gunners officials have already made contact with Rennes over a deal for the 21-year-old midfielder.
M’Vila has admitted he is keen on a move to North London — even though he is also wanted by Inter Milan.
Emirates boss Arsene Wenger must now sit down with the player’s agents to talk wages, with the club ready to offer around £60,000 a week.
Arsenal have already bought Lukas Podolski from Cologne for £10m while they are committed to offering skipper Robin van Persie a new deal.
M’Vila is desperate for Arsenal to reach a Champions League spot but SunSport understands it is not a crucial factor over whether he joins the club.
Arsenal need to win at West Brom on Sunday to guarantee third spot.

More so, reserve team coach, Steve Bould is set to replace Pat Rice as deputy to Arsene Wenger.

Arseblog reports

The big news this morning is that Steve Bould is set to replace Pat Rice as Arsene’s number 2 next year. The news broke over the weekend and still isn’t official but it’s done and dusted and the man who was such a big part of the famous back four will step up to first team action next season. It’s a move that has long been rumoured and one that some of his former colleagues have been championing in recent months.
A few weeks back he spoke about his happiness doing the job he was doing, developing young players and getting them ready for the first team, so what lies ahead of him is a real challenge. Quite how much input he’ll have into the coaching etc remains to be seen but we can only hope that his grounding by George Graham means he bring some of that defensive discipline to the side next season.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Arsenal's Popularity In Nigeria Is Unbelievable, Kanu Is Great - Wenger by nicolbuffet(op): 9:16pm On May 05, 2012
Arsene Wenger took time to talk to the press on his first team visit to Nigeria in August. He had this to say

"We have had to compromise on the sporting side, because we had a rational, methodical approach to our pre-season,” the Frenchman told reporters on Friday. “We have sacrificed some of that to go on tour.

“But we are in a race with the other clubs as well. I realized when I was at the World Cup in South Africa how popular a club like Arsenal is in Africa, especially in Nigeria. It is unbelievable.

http:///dvrzte
“I was even frightened at some stage by how popular Arsenal is. In Kenya as well, it is absolutely unbelievable.”
The Gunners coach also confessed that in a summer with a major international tournament - in this case, Euro 2012 - an extended tour creates further problems.

“A tour has advantages and disadvantages, let's be honest," he added.

“The advantage, of course, is to get in touch with your fan base in Asia - when you travel out there you realise how big the Premier League is and how big your club is over there.

“We are looking forward to doing it again, but unfortunately in the European Championship years or the World Cup years, on the purely sports side you suffer a bit more because your players have just come back and have to travel again, so the preparation time will be short for them.

“But on purely fan-base it is very exciting.”
Arsenal’s chief commercial officer Tom Fox acknowledged that the travelling was inconvenient, but stressed his belief that the club can benefit hugely.

“We do not take these decisions lightly at all,” the American said.

“We understand from a training perspective it is not ideal, and the pressure we feel that when we do something as disruptive as taking Arsene's preparation on the road, we need to make sure we get the most out of that.

“We feel that responsibility acutely within this club. We are not just flying people around because we think there may be opportunities.

“We have tried to be very purposeful about it because we completely understand it is a very disruptive thing to do.

“So we are going to do everything we can to make sure we get everything we can from these visits and games.”

Asked about the 35-year-old,Kanu Nwankwo, Wenger admitted he was full of respect for the striker.

"I like Kanu because he was not only a great player, but also very brave," he said. "He was a great representative of Nigeria because he was a player that everybody rates and a man that everybody loves in England.

"He never complained, you could kick him everywhere and he never said a word. He was very brave and I have a big respect for him. Then he created his heart foundation, and that was great as well - he does a good job with that.

"He loves football because when you have his knees and you still play today, you must be brave, believe me!"
