wink Hi,
I have opened more than one psp thread so far to solve psp problems but pple keep asking questions not related to the thread created  so I ve decided to open a general psp thread where everyone can ask questions relating to psp, psp parts, repairs, accessories e.g ear piece, charger etc , psp games, themes, wallpapers anything related to psp.

Note am based in Ibadan so I know where to get psp stuff here in Ibadan.

Stuff I do when less busy on my psp  grin

*.Repair any bricked/damaged Psp e.g Psp that does not display or come on when turned on.
*.Play games without using UMD's.
*.Download cool Psp Applications and Software's.
*.love-vendor/Customize your Psp .e.g psp themes, customized themes etc.
*.Play Sness, Sega, N64, Gameboy games and even Java mobile games on your Psp.
*.Upgrade your Psp to the latest Official Sony Firmware or Custom Firmware.
*.Install Operating System on your Psp e.g Windows Xp, Vista and Mac Os and many more, ,

Rules:
1.Introduce yourself, what type of psp are you using and firmware you are using.
2.Ask your question or what problem you are experiencing and pls wait for a reply
3.Pls do not repeat your question or use offensive words here this thread is to help and not fight!

Oh yea also you can also take a screen shoot of your psp and upload it here for me to see for an example if your psp screen is cracked or you want to show me the problem you ving on your psp upload it and let assist you. wink

Lets begin!  grin

Here is how to soil your psp:

This tutorial will teach you how to flash a Slim PSP or Phat PSP that has any official firmware (except Late Model slims that came new with 4.01) with 5.00 M33-4 Custom Firmware. PSP Grader was made by Klutsh & RainMotorsports.

Requirements
- A PSP (Slim or Phat) and USB Cable or a Card Reader
- A Pandora's Battery (Softmod, Hardmod, Datel Tool, etc.)
- A Memory Stick Pro Duo [64mb - 16gb]
- PSP Grader v008 - Download
- Sony 5.00 Official Update eBoot (Can be downloaded from PSP Grader instead) - Download Here http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1568

How To

Step 1) Extract PSP Grader from the zip file (Windows XP and newer can open zips or use Winzip, WinRAR, 7zip to open it.)

Step 2) Run PSP Grader, If you have not already downloaded the Official 5.00 eBoot you can do so using the download button. If you already have the eBoot then load it by clicking on "Load 5.00 Official eBoot"

Step 3) Connect your psp via the usb cable and enter usb mode from the xmb or connect your memory card reader and insert the memory card. Be aware that if you select format memory stick, your memory stick will be erased.

Step 4) If you used a psp it should be recognized and the drive letter selected. If it does not automatically find it or you used a card reader, simply chose the drive letter of the PSP or Memory Stick. Now click "Create Pandora Stick" and wait for the process to finish.

Step 5) Your Memory stick is now ready, unplug the PSP or remove the memory stick from the card reader and put it in the psp. Remove the battery and insert the Pandora's Battery whilst holding the L shoulder button on the PSP. Once the menu has loaded on the PSP simply press the X button. Wait. After around 1 - 3 minutes the Flash shall be done, press X to shutdown the psp, it is now safe to remove the pandora battery.

[Note] It is very important to just wait and not switch off the PSP or remove the Memory Stick or Pandora's Battery, it could result in a brick if you do not wait.

Now you have Custom FW 5.00 M33-4 on your PSP. Your done you may format your memory stick if you wish and at anytime update to 5.00 M33-6.

HAPPY PSP soiling!!!!! grin PLS DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!  wink IF YOU CANT DO IT YOURSELF  sad YOU CAN CALL ME ON 08098323912 I WILL DO IT FOR YOU!!! grin grin

thanks
Re: Infoseye PSP Help, Tips, Tutorials & Guide Thread by Infoseye(m): 3:57pm On Mar 23, 2009
pls explain the diffrent types of psp and how to install cfw.

Ok good question. Presently there are 3 types of psp's:

1.Psp 1000 aka( Phat)
2.Psp 2000 aka (slim and slight)
3.psp 3000 The newest PSP in town

Those are the types of Sony has manufactured so far. Now your second question How to install Custom Firmware(ctf) Aka How to soil your PSP.

First what are firmwares:

PlayStation Portable System Software is the official, updateable firmware for the PlayStation Portable. Updates add new functionality as well as security patches to prevent Homebrew (games) applications being run on the system. Updates can be obtained in four ways:

* Direct download to the PSP over Wi-Fi. This can be performed by choosing "Settings", "Network Update" from the XMB. (with the exception of 3.96)
* Download to a PC, then transfer to the PSP via a USB cable or Memory Stick. (with the exception of 3.96)
* Included on the UMD of some games. These games may not run with earlier firmware than the version on their UMD.
* Download from a PS3 to a PSP system via USB cable. (Japanese version only) (with the exception of 3.96)

While system software updates can be used with consoles from any region, Sony recommends only downloading system software updates released for the region corresponding to the system's place of purchase. System software updates have added various features including a web browser, Adobe Flash Player support, additional codecs for images, audio, and video, PlayStation 3 connectivity, as well as patches against several security exploits, vulnerabilities, and execution of homebrew programs. If the power supply (Battery/AC) is disconnected while updating the system software, the console will be bricked. The system will have to be booted from a different source such as a battery in service mode with which it can be restored.

The latest reported firmware version shipping pre-installed on new PSPs is 4.20 which is only on PSP 3000s.

The current firmware version is 5.02 and was released on November 20, 2008.

Now what are Customfirmwares:

Custom firmwares used a subset of the commonly known 1.50 firmware to enable a newer custom firmware to run homebrew capabilities, while newer custom firmwares use a custom IPL to launch the firmware and patch it. On firmwares with 1.50 kernel installed, less used features are removed in newer versions including "LocationFree Player" and Korean fonts in order to gain flas0 space. The firmware adds support for 1.50 homebrew in addition to loading official Sony EBOOTs, integrating an ISO/CSO loader launched from the XMB game menu, and a recovery menu accessible upon boot-up. (Or accessible from the XMB in some firmwares)

In summary Official Fimwares are Os for your PSP operating system so the major difference is that sony official firmware is from sony while custom firmware is from the soilers.

and how to soil or install ctf is in my first post above PLS DO ASK YOUR OWN RISK IF NOT DONE WELL YOU CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR PSP NE WARNED I DO THIS WITH NO PROBLEMS BECAUSE AM A PROFESSIONAL NEWBIES COME TO ME TO soil THEIR PSP FOR A TOKEN.

Can the analog control in a psp be fixed.A friend of mine has a psp with analog problem.
Re: Infoseye PSP Help, Tips, Tutorials & Guide Thread by Infoseye(m): 10:20am On Mar 24, 2009
Yes it can, just pullout the analog clean it and replace it back if no changes then take it to a game repairer n replace it with a new analog.

Re: Infoseye PSP Help, Tips, Tutorials & Guide Thread by ekpomento(m): 10:59am On Mar 25, 2009
thank you very much for the explaination but i want to know what homebrew, iso, cso and kernnel mean sorry to bother you.
Re: Infoseye PSP Help, Tips, Tutorials & Guide Thread by Infoseye(m): 11:58am On Mar 25, 2009
Ok no problem, Homebrew are applications or softwares desinged by individuals like us we game users and not designed by Sony Programmers. Now Cso and Iso are psp game formats, Cso is a compressed psp game while Iso is ripped directly from a UMD. Kernel on its on its a setting for each Firmware you upgrade to e.g 1.5 kernel etc Hope you got the picture if not google it.

Re: Infoseye PSP Help, Tips, Tutorials & Guide Thread by Infoseye(m): 2:03pm On Mar 25, 2009
cool Well the 5.02gen is a great firmware when you see t12 psp u will get the picture bro its nice. But I wish Dark-alex should come up with something new for his die hards psp fans. He stopped at 5.2m33-4 jts an upgrade  undecided  Yeah when u free drop by anytime homie. grin

God of war will be cool men on psp some other great games too are coming out but trust Sony now everything will be a rumor at first then surprise everyone with a hit game but no have u seen the psp 4000 seris b4? I saw the chnko psp4000 in sabo a month ago omo I ran out of the game shop laughing its actually a psp 1000 series but in a psp4000 case. Naija!!!!

Last I heard of soiling psp 4000 they ve successfully able to run homebrew applications on the psp 4000 series but meaning there is a better chance or room for improvement although its a good sign for a start in soiling psp 4000
