The autocheck link above is connected to a QX56, which the Outlander report immediately precedes

This stolen vehicle development is disturbing to say the least, one of those urban legends I'd heard but never actually seen. I guess it does happen afterall!

Woaah! Stolen, huh?

Totally unrelated, Emeshot, but why do you always photograph your odometers vertically, and fail to rotate the images before you upload them in your adverts?? undecided

If your vin checks has shown this to be a stolen car, then delete the advert immediately, there is no need advertising a stolen car or telling the poster to change the topic to reflect it was stolen making a pity party over a spilt milk.

We have seen it was stolen, do us a favour by deleting it.

emeshot,

Do yourself a favor and delete this advert immediately, you owe it to yourself and your repuatation to make checks before advertising any car on this forum, you spam the auto section and this should be a lesson to you, just dont post any car you see on the road for sale, make your own detailed checks before you advertise any car.

I wish you good luck.

I'm not sure that we'll be doing nairalanders any favour by deleting this thread. No useful purpose is served by sweeping the issue under the rug. The issue at hand is a very serious one and should be discussed. It is most important to convey in the strongest possible terms that there is zero tolerance for fraud or criminal activities in this Auto section.

The course of action I've taken was in consultation with the site adminstrator and I'd suggest that you to take up your objections with him. There is no point crying over spilt milk, the cat is out of the bag already.

Monitor_1,

You know in your heart of heart that the vehicle advertised does not belong to the advertiser, he has said times without number that he is a middleman just like you and most dealers on this section.

Moreover if he had anything to hide he would not have posted the Vin with the advert, the singular act of posting the vin number has shown that the poster was not award it was a stolen vehicle.

Most of our posters on this forum don't have access to carfax or autocheck because of credit card issue and hence should not be crucified when issues comes up with their cars.

As regards taking my objectives to the admin of this site, leave that to me till when I'm done with my compilations.

Lest I forget, your last statement sounds like the one from a man I know, his name is Akuya. LOL

You are well within your rights to express your opinion even if they differ from other people's - one has to respect it anyway.

My own opinion is that, it is not enough to post the VIN of a stolen car and then wash your hand from culpability, albeit you could be a clear accessory to a crime. If one is attempting to sell a vehicle for millions of naira, the least he/she should do is to know the product that is being sold and its source. Anything short of that is basically foolish and stupid.

I urge every seller to be more careful especially if the seller is a middle man. If the police catches up with anyone that is attempting to sell a stolen vehicle, the excuse that "I posted the Chassis number" or "I didn't know it was stolen" will not hold water.

The seriousness of the issue at hand cannot be minimized.

Jenju aka Monitor, before throwing the baby out with the bath water, was that the last entry on the VIN report? Can you supply the full unadulterated copies of Carfax, Experian and Carproof for this VIN number because some states tend to classify recovered stolen vehicle as salvage in case you don't know undecided

Not making excuses for anyone, but I remember something alongst the same line happened to Carshopper a couple of weeks ago whereby you were already accusing him of allsorts and your finger was itching to pull the trigger, until he was able to exhonerate himself, so who knows if this is a similar situation undecided

Fine if you want to take on the job of providing VIN numbers, but IMHO you need to be supplying the full VIN not a possibly doctored version cool

And you better don't be harassing me via PM not to out you as Jenju or Akuya or report me for a ban to Seun unless you want the whole of Nairaland to know what we cooked that burnt the house down. I might come across as dumb sometimes, but you cannot lecture me about Static IP's and IP by proxy and cookies and . . . lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

And for the record, I have concrete proofs to back up the claim that Monitor1 is Jenju, and I knew from day 1 because not only was his coming foretold, but there has also been plenty of written proofs too cool

I am very dissappointed in your chosen path of judgement on this issue.
Emeshot is a young man trying to make a living by being a middleman for car sales. Many middlemen hardly know how these cars are brought it. The importers don't give them full details. That they even post the VINs is because there is no way that these importers can hide what is engraved on the car. Cut the boy some slack, and delete this damn thread.
Good enough that we have discovered it was a stolen vehicle, leaving the thread laying about will only scare more new comers on this auto forum away than retain them.
Delete the thread , This is not JUST MY OPINION( which i'm entitled to) it's actually THE WISEST THING TO DO for the sake of us all(including yourself).

^^^ I don't know about others, but the way you casually dropped the name of the Admin into the equation already gave me an inkling as to what's happened, but that still does not explain why we don't yet have the full comprehensive report for Carfax, Carproof and Experien.

The reason I keep harping on about this is because there has been instances (Ziontrain anyone lipsrsealed) whereby a car deemed to be total loss in the last entry in the VIN check by Autocheck, was seen to have been used for a further 17 months in the United States in the report by Carfax, which meant it was put back on the road in US, before it was finally shipped to Africa. Hence my request is not preposterous, and would only help clarify things further.

The dealer Emeshot already knows that VIN reports are provided for cars advertised on NL so if he had any evil intention in mind, rather than allow his reputation to be smeared in this manner, he could have simply said the car was Nigerian used in order to circumvert the need to to provide the mandatory VIN number.

This thread being kept alive is not serving any purpose and will backfire in no time. This is a boomerang that will come back to smack all you dealers in the face, because people will start becoming wary of coming here to buy cars.

No word from Emeshot yet.
I am very sure he would not have posted a stolen car on NL on purpose, Talk-less of trying to sale it via the internet.

I am happy at the decision of Admin to keep the thread for at least a while so as to sound a warning, that stolen car cannot be traded on NL.
