Anyone With Ties To The "New World" (North/Central/South America, the Antilles)? by Alcofrybas(m): 12:48am On Feb 04, 2011
Hello. Is there anybody with ties to the "new world" in here (North, Central, South America and the Dutch/French/English and Spanish Speaking Antilles)?.

Of course, everybody from the "Old World" is very welcome (When referring to the "Old World", I'm including Africa, of course. Your history is far older than ours).

Really. I mean it.

I don't know if this is the right section for this thread.

I'm just looking for people with whom I could have a friendly chat, as long as all the rules are observed, and we all keep it reasonable.

Thank you for your attention.

That is obvious  grin. Anyway, I'm not trying to create a Latino thread in Spanish, bacause the moderator will kick me out of here.

Maybe I should correct myself in the introduction.

And, once again,  grin anyone from anywhere, who wants to have a fun chat just for the sake of it, is very welcome. Trust me. I'm open minded.

Thank you very much. I'm Latino of Italian Ancestry. I live in Venezuela, where I was born and raised

Please tell me about your background (ethnic group, etc), if you don't mind.

I'm just asking because many Americans from African ancestry preserve ancient Yoruba rites in a religion called "Santería". They're huge in Brazil. Yes we have "babalaos" (Babalawos?).
Re: Anyone With Ties To The "New World" (North/Central/South America, the Antilles)? by Jenifa1: 1:52am On Feb 04, 2011
i'm yoruba. are you from brazil? do you practice santeria?

This is an African site from what I was told and most likely those who aren't Nigerians do not get the "hospitable" treatment especially if you are not into kissing arses.

However, Welcome to Nairaland. grin

Jenifa_:

Nay. I'm Venezuelan. I don't practice "Santeria". Yet anyone is perfectly free to practice the creed that she/he wants. Right?

In Brazil, as part of new year's eve festivities, thousands of people, of all creed, gather on the shores of Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro, all dressed in white, as Santería requires, in order to offer flowers to the Orisha Yeye Emo Eja (known as Yemanjá in Brazil). Sorry for typos, but I have no clue about the Yoruba language  grin

Hello MzD@rkSkin. I was born and raised in Venezuela, where I'm located, and we around 500 miles of Caribbean coasts.
Your family is definitely all over the continent (9 countries!).
You're very right. The Caribbean is a melting pot. The entire continent has been, for quite some time, a safe haven for millions of immigrants who had to leave their homelands, ravaged by poverty and wars.
Shure is a beautiful thing to be Latino/Caribbean. We have "Sabor!" (Flavour in English?). I don't think it could be translated.
A Jamaican living in America?. Well ,  I suppose you either have music in your blood, or you have music in your blood  grin. But I suppose we can discuss that later  cheesy.
My apologies to everyone else. I got a little bit carried away.  embarassed

P.S. "Obrigado" means "You're welcome" in Portuguese.

Isnt being honest part of the rules and why did you not read your bible to Jenifa, why me?

Your comments are not at all welcome. Please refrain.

You're welcome Jenifa_. I detest bashing behind the safety of a Nick in the Internet.
I just wonder why do they keep moving my thread to different sections. I someday won't be able to find it.

Well I must go to sleep. It's very late in here (or too early in the morning).

Talk to you later.

Bye

Must you display your childishness all over NL?
You probably need to get busy and do something more productive with your life. Spending all this worthless time wouldn't get you anywhere in life.
don't worry u can thank me later

Someone who would not dump you after he gets his papers grin

Win-win situation, init?

This is absolutely incredible and morally repugnant!.
I could not get out without having a final word. I am 41 (it's clearly stated in my profile). The lady I was defending doesn't specify her age but the photograph in her profile, if its hers, is the photograph of a minor. These are all rash, disgustingly offensive, outrageously repulsive and totally unacceptable defamations. Somebody who hasn't answered to him yet in this thread should report all his comments, especially this one. I cannot do it, because If I do it, after replying to him, I'll be banned according to the rules.

- Or sent to the funny farm!.
