Before you decide to pursue a particular girl, there are some basic skills you need to master, and these will help you to be friends with anyone. Consider the following.
▪ CULTIVATE GOOD MANNERS! Good manners show that you respect others and that you’re developing a mature personality. Girls find it attractive if a boy displays good manners both in small things, like opening the door for her, and larger things, like being kind and considerate. Girls are put off when they’ve just met someone but he asks questions that are too personal, such as ‘Are you dating someone?’ It’s PLAIN RUDE!
▪ MAINTAIN YOUR PERSONAL HYGIENE. Good hygiene shows respect not only for others but also for yourself. If you respect yourself, girls are more likely to respect you. On the other hand, if you let your hygiene slide, you’ll sabotage your efforts to impress a girl. e.g Bad breath.  grin
▪ CULTIVATE CONVERSATIONAL SKILLS. The basis of a lasting relationship is good communication. This involves discussing not only your interests but also the interests of the girl. Girls are impressed when a boy can converse with them naturally, when he can remember things she told him and can ask questions that keep the conversation moving. Boys are attracted to what they see, but girls are more attracted to what they hear! Girls like a boy that has a sense of humor but could also talk about more serious things without sounding fake.
▪ TAKE THE INITIATIVE. If you think a friend whom you admire might make a good marriage mate, let her know you are interested in her. Be clear and forthright in declaring your feelings. Yes, it can be nerve-racking. You fear rejection. But your being willing to take the initiative is a sign that you have GROWN UP!
▪ RESPECT THE GIRLS DECISION. If she says NO! Dignify her by believing that she knows her own heart and that her NO means NO. It betrays a lack of MATURITY if you make a PEST of YOURSELF. Really, if you ignore a girl’s explicit rejection of your attention—even becoming provoked by her rebuff—are you really thinking of her interests or your own. BE THE MAN!
▪ DONT FLIRT. A flirt uses flattering speech and provocative body language. He has no intention of pursuing an honorable romantic relationship. Flirts make poor friends and worse marriage mates. Discerning girls know that.
▪ DONT TOY WITH HER FEELINGS. If you compliment a fellow GUY on his appearance regularly talked to that GUY and confided in him, it is unlikely that he would think that you are romantically attracted to him. @OP: Your itemized points may work in an ideal case scenario, but unfortunately, I strongly doubt if it will work in the peculiar socio-economic climes of Nigeria. Most Nigerian ladies will gladly forego all these attributes you mentioned, and go for a guy with the money to spend on them. Therefore, my own position is that as far as Nigeria is concerned, a man can get any lady he wants, whether he possesses the attributes you mentioned or not; money (excess of it) will help to whitewash any internal or external weaknesses the man may have! cool

Keep it small- Some guys tend to talk forever which normally leads to turning most girls off. The more you talk to her the more information she would gather about your personality and that aspect of mystery would die.
