Nigeria has countless more pressing problems we should be devoting energy to - in the same rotten Senate the PIB bill that would create jobs for Nigerians has been in the doldrums for how many years now? Yet something that isn't even a threat (marriage of ho-mose-xuals) is swiftly passed in a matter of weeks.

It is phoolishness of the highest order - by next year a lot of the goons posting here may not be able to afford to put fuel in their generators because of subsidy removal but they care more about some random ga-ays protesting in New York.

Like someone else has said - this is equal to washing your windows while the house burns to the ground.

I will have to disagree with that.

The Poof issue is one of the most pressing and most pertinent issue for Nigeria and for Africa.

It is pressing:
- Considering the emboldenment of poof crusaders in Africa.
- The barrage of pro-poof content being churned out by popular (Western) media.
- The blatant foreign policy of the Western government to entrench its poof philosophy on Africa (some using aid as carrot)
- The outrageous scheming in the UN to make it a "human rights" issue for the world through voting of a scheming few.
- An internal report stating ending the bans on homosexuality by all members was key to the future relevance of the Commonwealth.
- The clear and outrageous attempts by the West to even force it on religious institutions and oppress people's religious beliefs in their home countries.

Nigerians and Africans don't have to sit about and say it is not a pressing issue. That is like a medieval city saying safety is not an issue when it has 100,000 barbarians at its gates.

A study? So they can not film it despite their (some few people's) claim of it being "widespread" for over 2 decades?

G.a.y behaviour? So there are no g.a.y animals, just g.a.y "behaviour"?

Foreign policy is one thing, actual practice is another. Even basic human rights are absent in most of Africa, so why do you think pro-poof philosophy will cause any change as such?

Forget scheming and the like - the UN has said for YEARS that governments should spend x amount on education and African countries have never done that - why worry about some unenforceable 'declaration' when you have pressing issues?

Do the Chinese bother passing laws or do they deal with their own problems first and foremost?

Are there 100,000 poofs seeking marriage that the govt feels the need to impose 14 year sentences?

It is easy for them to help you practice it.

Name any popular western series you know that does not have positive representation and promotion of homosexuality. Be it Eastenders, Hollyoaks, Big Brother etc. I had to stop watching Dawson's Creek back in the day because of this attempt to brainwash.

They have successfully infused it in majority of our kids abroad through this overwhelming cultural and media power. They don't need you to do the entire enforcement. They can do majority of it for you remotely.

It is outrageous on its own for some few to hijack the UN and force their philosophy on the majority connivingly. You yourself will not accept that in a business deal, why should the World?

debosky:

The Chinese don't practice democracy.

The Chinese poofs know this and don't even dare.

It is an unabashed and heavy statement.

It is so amazing the way these people twist things because they know majority are gullible and lack functional brain cells.

Nigeria has not banned poofs!

Nigeria has never banned poofs!

Nigeria has never planned to jail people because they are poofs!

Nigeria has banned poof acts! It is the acts that will get people in jail, not for being a poof.
Re: 7 Same-sex Nigerians Demonstrate At Nigerian House In New York by debosky(m): 12:20am On Dec 08, 2011
Erm you cannot ban poofs - just like you can't ban armed robbers. You can only ban acts and not people as such.

Besides, how can you be a poof without committing poofery? grin

The government has gotten its priorities hopelessly wrong.

Exactly! grin We respect human rights. cheesy

You can walk like a bloody fairy, dress like a fairy, mannerise like a fairy, scream like a fairy, dance like a fairy, you will not go to jail in Nigeria.

The minute you start publically touching another fairy for intimate gratification or to declare your relationship publically, you face 14 long ones. grin

I for one see it as one of Nigeria's high priorities in the world we live in. The legislative representatives have also. Good thing it was highly consensus, so only took a fraction of assembly time to pass it and move on to other things.  cheesy

I am now waiting for them to ban the broadcast of any show blatantly pro-poof. Either stations don't show it or cut out aspects of the show. If you want your show broadcasted in Nigeria, you can have poof characters but the storyline, at worst, should be neutral (not blatantly promoting it as a positive affirmation or a "society must accept it" stance).

The Barbarians are at the gates, I am sharpening my sword to defend the kids we will see in Nigeria being adopted or concieved through IVF for poofs. Poor souls have no choice or rights.

If two consenting adults choose to love each other it is no one's business. If you keep making life difficult for these people some of them will secretly marry your sister or daughter. As long as they are adults they should be free to do as they choose in ANY country in the world.

Some of the people making noise here and promising to kill people because of the way they were born have committed r.ape, perhaps even murder and some even molested young girls. So I don't understand how the decisions of an adult that does not affect anyone else should bother people.

Just because we don't have the tendency or are repulsed by same sex attraction does not mean we should be mean to others. It has taken a lot of people time to come to understand that people are just born that way. The same way most men are not physically attracted to other men, hence some men are not attracted physically to women, that is just it. Some people are born albino without choice so that is the way nature is - very unpredictable in it's many manifestations.

Please let us practice consideration and tolerance for others - to make our country better. I am more concerned about ok.o haram, PHCN, fuel scarcity, bad roads, corrupt politicians, rainy season floods, runs girls that take my money, etc, wink than worry about people's personal choices. I guess they live more women for us!

Exactly! There's a lot I don't understand about same-sex attraction, but it's not like they're asking everyone to be. Of all the things we ought to be concerned about -- better living conditions, religious tolerance -- we're happy about a law that achieves absolutely nothing. "the Overwhelming majority is heterosexual intercourse related infection?" Do you have facts to support such a sweeping assertion or is it just your own hypothesis.
I mean if we consider that some African countries already have legislations that protect and encourage the act and their cause, it can't be ruled out that a sizeable number of the viral infection, amongst other things, may have been fuelled by ho'mosexuals-both from closet ho'mosexuals that may have been doing it on the down low and the ones that are openly g'ay. Take RSA for instance, they have the highest incidence of HIV and AIDS infections plus a very very visibly active g'ay community that has succeeded in forcing their government to legalize their acts and peotect them, don't you think h'omosexualism may have fuelled the very high number too?

shut up your mouth and stop misinforming the public.

nobody is born a homosexual.
those are the lies faggots tell to appear as victims. homosexuals are borne out of the sexual abuse in a child's formative years.

factors ranging from different circumstances in the life of a child. a boy serially abused by an uncle as a child might have the tendency to be gay.
boys locked up in same-sex institutions and were abused might become gay. they were not born gay but they have chosen to adapt to the habits they picked in their formative years. just like we are experts in our mother tongues, how we write, and those characters we picked up growing up.

homosexuality: - it's nurture not nature.

Are you sure you understand the enormity of the nonsense you just posted How can you say government has no business defining marriage. Like seriously, how old are you again?? Do you know that recently two g'ay men were at the court registry in Naija here to finally engage eachother as couple, what do you make of that. Do you even understand that that in itself is a crime here in Naija cos the cos the only definition of marriage the Nigerian constitution recognizes is the one between a man and a woman. Yet they have not been arrested prolly because of some legal technicalities that I believe this Bill will address soon as it is finally passed. And you think this is not an issue that deserves anyone's time? Seriously anybody that bandy that nonsense phrase about not caring what "two consenting adults" do with eachother is an irresponsible fellow that should not be accorded with any serious leadership position in any capacity even as parents or guardians. What kind of nonsense statement is that anyway, why do we have the police and other security agancies. @ Madam Ileke Idi,

I knew about the Giginya Hotel by accident. Someone who went to the city lodged there and called his friend to let him know that he lodged in the hotel. That friend of his told him to run away from the hotel as soon as possible. He said that was the place where the rich and famous g@ys converge. He told him that if he didnt leave he could be invited/cajoled by some of them and that whoever saw him there would not believe he is not one of them.

See, Madam. I have interacted with many people that are h0m0sexu@ls, especially the le5bians and female bis. They are externally normal. It is not written on their faces. There are educated ones as well as barely educated and non-educated.

Some were lured into from schools through these school mother things. Some out of curiousity. Some out of frustration (in the harem system). Some out of insecurity in meeting up with the opposite sex. Some others for ritual purpose.

But many people in high and mighty places are involved. There was a woman (who had even been a president of NCWS) who was a noted bi. There is a professor who chairs the club of Le5bians in Zaria. There are both students and lecturers in the club. Many of the students have graduated into the society and are now in journalism, finance, public service, business, politics and even the police. So, the law is good but may be difficult to pass and if passed may be difficult to enforce.

The only enforceable part may be the marriage aspect but the act itself will be difficult to curtail because it is a thing of the heart and usually conducted - like most sexual acts - in the private.

As long as the act is kept behind closed doors and it is not in the mainstream (e.g. on the streets, prints, TV or in our kids' curriculum), I am fine with the enforcement.

My priority is: not to see all4naija and Eko Ile dressed in tight clothes like sick, sick, sick freaks and dancing on floats going down Ikorodu Road saying it is "G.a.y Pride Day".

Wolf crier. grin

Even if they review their laws, will laws make it acceptable in society? The point is, it is an insignificant problem to be issuing legislation over, especially when we have the existing so-domy laws.

Even if all African countries pass laws accepting ga-ays, it won't change the numbers of homo-sexuals in society one jot.

There are already laws that can handle that - they'll never get a police permit for such a parade anyways. grin

As long as the act is kept behind closed doors and it is not in the mainstream (e.g. on the streets, prints, TV or in our kids' curriculum), I am fine with the enforcement.

Wolf crier.

Wolf?

Wolf ke?  grin

You are seeing a pride of lions you dey say na wolf I talk.  grin

Where did you see me say we should stop or drop the number of poofs?

You seem to have forgotten alot of the discussions we have had previously.

THE MINUTE you relax your laws, expect the tsunami of poof rights demands (on work, on TV, on magazines, on adoption, on pension, on representation etc). And YOU CANNOT STOP THE TSUNAMI when your flood barriers are not built high, tight and strong.

Abeg, no give us Trojan Horse.  grin
