Career › Re: Please Nairalanders, I Need Your Advice. by Nigerianization(m): 5:38pm On Aug 29, 2022 |
Skillsmaster: Good evening all. Forgive my typos. Please I am in a state of confusion right now. I posted here on nairaland last year concerning me starting a teaching job in Abuja. I have been teaching in this school for a year and half now.
My salary is 40k (on appointment letter) but there is always deduction of 10% (4k) every month which they promised to pay all the deductions by end of each session. Till now, they are yet to pay it, giving excuses of no money on ground. But they paid it to those that resigned as far as two months notification is given.
I applied in other schools before the beginning of last term, two among the schools invited me for an interview but I didn't go because of this 10% of a thing. I made up my mind to resign beginning of this term so that I can collect my 10%. Last week, I got another invite from one of those schools I applied. I went and came out successful but their salary is 60k.
I requested for 100k but they said they can only pay 60k. I didn't accept it because of the distance. Early hour of Saturday, I received a message from the school, congratulating me that I have been shortlisted for employment. I was confuse because I didn't agree with the pay. And I will be teaching in primary section.
Assuming they can even pay me 80k, I can forget about the 10% and start another hustle there. (I planned relocating to the area because of distance).
Should I accept this offer and forget about the 10% (72k+) in the school I am now? Or should I talk to them if they can allow me to resume by January so that I can collect my money from this school? Will they accept?
Please house, I need your input on this.
Note: I will go to the school and confirm if they've agreed to increase my pay. Before the invite, I have already made up my mind to tender my resignation letter immediately school resumes. If you appointment letter says one month notice, then give them a notice now since schools will resume late September. They are supposed to even pay you September salary. If not, get a lawyer to write to them. But if your appointment letter says two months, then, you can forfeit it and move or you play along, collect September salary and bail. After all, school gets serious from October. So you shuttle both schools when you resume in September until month end. |

plaindealer: Not a fan of Reno, but I see a lot of sense here.
Peter Obi and his followers are always dodging Mondays. Why? Una dey fear your own people? Assuming but not conceding that you are right, the reason is simple. Government cannot guarantee security for the rally. It's better to avoid trouble. Look at the flip side. If the rally was to hold on Monday and nobody was attacked, people like Reno will still say it's because the unknown gunmen were in support justifying their failed assertion that Peter Obi is IPOB. If people lose their lives through attacks, they will still blame Peter Obi for being insensitive to risk people's lives. Thirdly, if you notice, other states have been holding their rallies mostly on Saturdays. The organisers looked at the possibilities and opted for Sunday so that businesses will not be affected. That rogues have taken over the reins of security in many parts of the country is clearly a failure of government and not the people. In many parts of the north, bandits do not allow farmers to go to their farms. Nobody has blamed ATIKU or kwankwaso for that. Schools have closed and people are living in fear. It is a failure of government and that is why we want a better deal for all. Blaming Peter Obi for IPOB and not blaming kwankwaso and ATIKU for bandits and boko Haram is double standards. Many people in ATIKU's home state are living in IDP camps, many people in Shetima's state are displaced. El rufai wrote a secret memo to the president that bandits have formed a parallel government in many parts of his state. Yet, a Peter Obi that left government for close to a decade is being made a scape goat. Reno is a pastor and I do not need to tell you the kind of Pastor he is at this point. I took out time to respond to you seeing that you SINCERELY see reasons with the post and needs to SINCERELY consider the flip side too. Dsalvo: Tinubu is not "pro North" and I am always baffled at how you Nigerians can make patently incorrect statements just to support the stance you have taken.
Tinubu is a political leader aspiring to be President of Nigeria. To argue he is pro North you must show , from his leadership belief and political leaning, how he is pro North.
While virtually all Northern leaders, including Buhari, believe in spending government money derived from oil, Tinubu is a big fan of an economy diversified aggressively away from one source of income alone.
Tinubu believes in decentralization of power most Northerners will never contemplate that let alone support it. The North loves bureaucracy and bloated governance whereas Tinubu favors efficient, compact and 'streamlined' models of political and administrative leadership.
I could go on all day but point is that I really hate the dishonest way the average Nigerian is always happy to give a dog they hate a bad name to hang it.
Aside Tinubu's awareness he must compulsorily work with Northern politicians in 'one Nigeria' how exactly is he pro North? Or is that what you conclude makes him "pro North"? Perhaps because he worked for Buhari in 2015 against GEJ then that is pro North to you ba?
Conversely, how is Atiku more liberal and Pro South than Tinubu? Because he married a woman from virtually every State of Nigeria? What progressive political thinking does Atiku share with the South? What liberal policy has Atiku ever pursued for the North or even his native Adamawa?
I really don't get you people. You just take a side and then just craft arguments, however ludicrous or patently flawed , to back your corner. SMH. Tinubu was always forced to speak whenever there are issues with his Yoruba nation. When the kidnapping in the south west was rampant and the Fulani was variously fingered in the plot, Tinubu downplayed the situation by and ridiculously asked, where are the cows? What he would have done was just to condole with the people and appeal for calm instead of trivializing the whole incident. Tinubu was one of the last political leaders to make his position known on the creation of amotekun. So much for a Yoruba leader. He sure would work with everybody - North and South. However, he has not been known to stick out his neck for his people. Remember that he worked to install Tambuwal as Speaker against a south west candidate. On a final note, I admire Tinubu. I cannot hate a man I love. Not supporting him is a different kettle of fish. |

How can the economy of Lagos be bigger than countries like South Africa and Egypt? Just because you want to hype Tinubu. Jagabanofafrica: Obi and his IPOB fanbase are comical. Do they think they will benefit electorally by discrediting BAT?
This election is a desperate 'cold war' between North and South. Stakes are very high because 'born to rule' Northerners who always demand power, so as to be able to control every Nigerian money - making parastatal and process, are at their most desperate , in the history of Nigeria, to ensure power remains in the North.
This is because they are petrified Buhari has done so much damage that any powerful Southerner, like Tinubu, will be demanded by the entire Nigeria to 'change it' for them and 'equalize'. There is real anger and bad blood in the heart of Southern Leaders over the perception Buhari has deliberately put the South in jeopardy to favour the North.
This is even why Atiku and Tambuwal combined desperately and jettisoned the need for fairness by finally destroying the North to South equitable power shift. Such is the desperation of some Northern leaders to hold on to power that they are willing to go into uncharted troubled water that may destroy the unity of Nigeria finally and completely.
Nigeria is now in a silent feudal war between North and South.
Even Kwankwaso has confessed that the 'mood' of the North is to retain power. What he failed to add is that it is the mood of Northern leaders and elite, whose existence depends on political power and patronage, he is referring to.
All in all, this is not Obi's level. It is not Amaechi's level or even Osinbajo's level. Those guys are not battle-ready leaders, like proven war generals, with a dedicated troop of leaders behind them who are ready to go to war with them.
Tinubu is the only Southerner who can battle the North so that Nigeria is reshaped in an image that benefits all to include even the Northerners ready to vote their historical and callous oppressors in the form of Kwankwaso and Atiku.
Obi is a little boy in a big man's game. He is going nowhere because there are levels and this is not his level nor his time. After Buhari, Nigeria will not survive the wrong choice of President for even 6 months.
Those talking about Obi are fantasists. Even in much better times in the past, Obi would never last as a President if he arrives with no legislators as he plans to do with Labour Party.
In today's troubled Nigeria, with so much good versus evil battle going on underground for the soul of our nation, Obi is just a clown in a joke of a political Party.
The North, if Atiku cannot win, would love Obi to win so they can impeach him within 3 months using the legislative majority we know they will always carry.
It is Tinubu, who is the most powerful southerner alive and a man who does not fear them, they are worried about and wish to keep out of Aso Rock by any means possible. Their continuous control of every sector of Nigeria desperately depends on keeping BAT awy from the Presidency.
If Obi had been in Tinubu's shoes, battling for the APC ticket against Northern 'born to rule' political fascism, he would have fled Nigeria to hide in Alaska.
The only good thing about Obi is that he will damage PDP's traditional strength in the SS and SE to the benefit of Tinubu and APC. Anyone thinking Obi has a chance does not understand the real desperate battle going on that cannot be spoken about openly by any of the candidates even though Kwankwaso has inadvertently clued on sharp Nigerians with his Northern "mood" talk. On the contrary, Tinubu is more pro North just as ATIKU is more liberal and pro South. Tinubu that has been begging the North for VP slot since 2007. Shetima already said that he will be in charge of security (commander in chief of the armed forces) while Tinubu will be in charge of the economy. If you know, you know |
