dejol88: Please read history very well. Before the Muslim ruled Spain, who was ruling?
For what turkey is doing, same minds should condemn it in totality. This is what most Muslim won't take if done to them. Just imagine if Israel converts Aqsa mosque.
However, note that the muslim invaders of Spain (the Moors) built the mosque, but the Europeans converted it into a church after they got their land back. Sounds justifiable to me.
Turkish President, Recep Erdogan has issued a decree to reconvert a 6th century church-turned-museum in Istanbul into a mosque.
It is located a few kilometres from the famous Hagia Sophia that was opened to Muslim prayers in July.
A presidential decree published Friday on the official gazette, orders the Chora Museum to be opened for Islamic prayers.
Just like Hagia Sophia, the museum will be handed over to Turkey’s religious authority Diyanet. Dpa reports that the building, also known as the Church of the Holy Saviour, was turned into an Ottoman Mosque in the 16th century.
In November 2019, Turkey’s top administrative court annulled the 1945 decision, paving the way for its conversion into a mosque.
The United States, European Union, Russia, UNESCO and church leaders opposed the change in status of Hagia Sophia.
The minister, who was represented by the Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Capt. Musa Nuhu, argued that the decision was taken in the interest of Nigerians.
“On the list of countries (that are banned), we are working on the comprehensive list, but the main one that came up is when the EU opened their borders effective 1st July, Nigeria was among the list of 54 countries that were not allowed to enter the EU.
To my understanding, as the situation changes, they are going to look at the list and change it. But so far, we don’t have any contrary information to that first one that Nigeria is banned from going to the EU. So, as we open our airspace, we are going to apply the issue of reciprocity to those (EU) countries.” he said
daddytime: Isn't this going to be some scare financial resources flushed down the drain without the overdue and requisite reforms needed within the larger Police force?
The federal government has approved N13.3 billion for the take-off of community policing nationwide.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who presided over the meeting in which the approval was made, said the decision was taken after a report by the adhoc committee on security and policing headed by Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, was submitted to the Council.
Osinbajo further directed the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and two of his colleagues to meet with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha; the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed; and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, to coordinate the proper utilisation of the fund.
A statement released by Osinbajo’s spokesman, Mr. Laolu Akande read;
“Accordingly, the committee would be meeting further as the need arises to update the council on the progress being made to address insecurity and criminality in the country.
“Council was informed that the president has approved a sum of N13.3 billion for the take-off of community policing in the country.

The federal government has said it is weighing its options, over the closure of shops belonging to Nigerian traders in Ghana.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, revealed this when he met with the League of Progressive Ambassadors of Nigeria officials, led by its president, Jasper Emenike, on Monday
Emenike, who briefed Onyeama on the state of affairs, called for the intervention of the government.
Nigerian traders have seen their shops closed, over their failure to register with the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (GIPC).
According to Onyeama, the FG will take up the matter with Ghanaian authorities and may also explore the option of approaching the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) court.
“We have the intention of calling our Charge D’Affairs in Ghana for consultation and again to get to the fact. We don’t want to anticipate what our actions would be, but we will consider all the options depending on the facts.
