A few days a Ago , a story about woman who burnt her 11 year old daughter in her private area with a hot iron for coming home late from school was published on Nairaland Forum. Well, the woman, named Bukky Lawal, has been arrested by the Nigerian police after a formal complaint was lodged following the report.

Officials from the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation visited the Ikorodu home of Bukky and her daughter Ore after learning of the incident. They got her arrested and she's currently in police custody.

Hope Fuel Scarcity will stop

ABUJA - The Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has assured petroleum marketers over Nigeria that outstanding payment for products imported would be made next week. (Second week of December 2015)
Dr. Kachikwu spoke after a tour of service stations and depots in Lagos on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by the Managing Director of Pipelines and Product Marketing Company and Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) officials.

The Minister said there was enough petrol to dispense and wondered why cases of scarcity persisted.

Dr. Kachikwu, however, admitted that there was a shortfall in supply, as a lot of marketers were not bringing in products because they were owed subsidy money.

Nigeria - James Abiodun Faleke, APC's Deputy Governorship candidate in the recent Kogi elections yesterday emerged from a meeting with the party's leadership with a set mind and a strong opinion.

Speaking at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, he declined to run with the party's choice candidate, Yahaya Bello, saying a governor-elect can never be a deputy governor candidate.

“The issue of Kogi state was paramount in the minds of national leaders and they wanted a solution to it.

“However, we met for about two hours as you have observed and we discovered that the meeting that we were invited for was just a mere briefing rather than it being where we could have deliberated and solved the quagmire we find ourselves in. We were only briefed about the position of the party.
“The party told us that it had nominated Alhaji Yahaya Bello and of course, we made it clear that as the political family of Prince Abubakar Audu, because it is not acceptable and we are not going with it.

“I personally observed that my name has been submitted to INEC as deputy governorship candidate to pair with Alhaji Yahaya Bello and I told the National Chairman clearly and in clear words, that I have submitted a letter this morning distancing myself from that decision and that on no ground will I want to be associated with the decision of the party to pair me with Alhaji Yahaya Bello because I am already governor-elect.

“I also told him, Mr. Chairman for us as a family, Kogi state political family, we are not taking part in that election and my name cannot be submitted because I was not even consulted in the first instance. The Governor-elect cannot become another deputy governorship candidate.

“I want to make it very clear that Alhaji Yahaya Bello did not take part in all our campaign process and we are only contesting election in 91 polling units out 2,548 or there about polling units and we have made it very clear that if they go ahead to conduct election because I have pulled out, that election would be challenged in the court of law, it will be null and void.

“We won’t be addressing you today if the party had followed the path of honour we championed there is for the party to go to court and challenge INEC and Mr. Chairman told us directly right away without considering it twice that the party will not go to court and since the party is not going to court, we have taken it upon ourselves to defend ourselves in court and we are challenging the decision”.

18 people lost their lives in an accident which occurred along Abuja-Lokoja road in the early hours of today November 20. The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Mr. Ogochukwu Ugboma, who confirmed the tragic news disclosed that sixteen men and two women died in the accident while others, including a female child, sustained injuries.
"The accident, which occurred at about 5.45 am, near Gegu village, involved a Lagos bound luxury bus with registration number Lagos XT 286 LSD belonging to a popular transport company, First Tarzan," Mr. Ugboma said. "86 persons, comprising two children, 59 men and 25 women were involved in the accident. Though the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, some eyewitnesses said the bus ran into an ambush laid by armed robbers." he added.

He further disclosed that the driver was making a U-turn in a bid to escape when the bus plunged into a ditch, leading to the death of some passengers. Corpses and the injured were taken to the Federal Medical Center in Lokoja while investigation into the accident had commenced.

A man was attacked and robbed at Berger bridge, mile 2 at about 6:30 am on his way to work. Just as he was approaching the bridge, 3 boys about the ages 18-20 years ran to the vehicle and demanded for his valuables. He handed them his money and mobile phone. One of the robbers then used a big stone to shatter the back glass, looking for other valuables.

Just as the robbers were getting away, the man noticed they didn't have any weapon on them just big stones, he then ran after them and caught the guy who took his phone and broke his glass. He got his mobile phone back and was injured as a result of this incident.

The unlucky thief was beaten ruthlessly and handed over to Kirikiri police.
