Chidinho10: Lol, story story story bla bla bla Knowledge is not a function of age or residency
I don't have to be in the US to be able to read and understand a simple MBA employment report. I don't have to be in the US to connect with African students in different schools and get first-hand info from them. I don't have to be in the US to ask successful African MBAs in different industries for career guidance. The "gurus" you are referring to do not even know how an MBA employment report looks like.
So keep patronizing people who know nothing about what you're seeking and keep confusing yourself.
There are lots of places and people you can connect and get legit MBA info; not from people who have never filled an MBA application form in their lives. Information is free in this 21st century
Shalom 21st century . Free online information . , from your previous arguments you never claim your source to be free online information or your 21st century mentality you made it look as if you are product of ivy league sch and your father is oil Mogul with different companies to fix you in #Keepyourtoyourselffirst |

reekadohbanks: Hey guys, to the people trying to email me, I don't know why I can't see your emails. I guess nairaland has changed a few things about direct email and all that. You can post your questions here and I'll answer them as soon and as honestly as possible. I don't want you guys thinking I've been ignoring your messages. I just can't see them because it's saying we're not connected etc. I dunno what that means! reply it as if u re send normal mail |

reekadohbanks: To the guy asking me not to be an a.s.s, you're just going to have to get used to my sense of humor. Its crude thats all. And i still maintain that Reekadohbanks of MAVIN is one ugly MF. Anyways back to the agenda.. Here's a fair warning for those that have just been granted F1 visas and are hoping to come to the US and survive on a job on campus. Be prepared for a rude shock. First of all, on-campus jobs only pay minimum wage ($8.25 if you're very lucky) and you can only work a maximum of 20 hrs per week (which isn't guaranteed you'd get that many hours anyways). So after your FITW (federal income tax withheld) your take home will be about $160 - $220 every month. That doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the heap of bills you'd have to pay. Your phone bill alone is almost 1/3 of that. Add the cost of transportation (Yes, even public transportation is pricey) and food, and you're done. Remember that you'd have to pay rent. And if you're unlucky enough to find yourself in cities like Boston, NYC, DC, or Chicago, be ready to shell out 750-1200 dollars a month on rent for a 12x12 room that isn't half as big as your mother's pantry in Iyana Ipaja. Best advice: Be honest with yourself right from the beginning and have a game plan. If your parents are civil servants in naija and had to put all their savings together to buy your flight ticket, and your plan is to come and "hustle" your way through school, don't even waste your time. There's no "hustling" your way through their over-priced schools here. Its outrageously expensive, even if you get financial aid (before you start asking what that is, F1 visa holders are not eligible). F1 students cant legally get any jobs and eve if you get any under the table jobs, be ready to slave for some smelly pakistani who was wise enough to come here and open a pizza place. So now you're probably asking yourself... so what can a man do?. Fear not my children, I've got the answer for you. There's no shame in sneaking into the US under the guise of a student visa. We all know that the mushroom schools in some nasty backwater town in Mississippi or Oklahoma(who effing goes to Mississippi !!!!!) that gave you I-20 isn't much better than UNN or UI, but at least it gets you in (I entered with I-20 from VIU!!!.. sweet lord!, I'd have to do a whole new post on that podunk wastebasket they call a university!). When you get here, don't be slow, your 2 years visa is going to expire even before you can spell VISA. The sooner you're able to become a permanent resident, the better for you (and I mean that with all my strenght!... ANother post on that will come soon). Life will be easier for you. Then you can figure out which school to go to that will work out for you. Most naija people here just do nursing. you'll get an associate in about 3 years and you'll get a job in a nursing home that'll pay you $15-25 an hr. Not bad right?. All I'm trying to say is that, you're way better off if you have a plan before leaving naija... if you're planning to "jama jama" or "rugged" your way through school with odd jobs, you're going to be more surprised than when you discovered your 100MB data is finished because you opened one website!... you get the gist. good. Post bro what is ur suggestion or advise to the F1 visa applicant coming down there |

@justwise if I may ask are u apparent to SEUN . Do u know that people come to NL just because of the information they are getting as a result of that u get more traffic and Ad and more so more money for SEUN . If u start deleting the useful information that will generate more traffic , don't u think with time u render the blog unseful. My advise for always rethink before u take any action , and for every action u take u own people for explanation without demand for it |

I brought this story here for people like walspring and slimmy05 to stop confusing people when they ask question , give ur own advis.e . Although this story is not me but just to encourage someone My wife and I migrated to the U.S in 2010 immediately after completing my National Youth Service year. All I had was $400 and a B.Sc Sociology certificate. 3 months after arriving in the U.S; I got a job at a retail store, working as a back room team member. A month after getting a job at that retail store, I picked up another job at restaurant few miles from each other. I worked almost 80hr/week standing on my feet, my experience at both jobs was horrible but I had to do it to save up some money to rent an apartment. On 16, Nov. 2010 we got a 4 bedroom house instead of an apartment (a miracle I plan to share another day). On 23rd of December 2010 I quit one of my jobs at the retail store and waited for some months to have my one year residency complete before going to school.
Fast forward to August 2011.
Started another undergrad studies- Computer Information Systems (Undergrad again? Do you know what you are doing? IT is saturated, all IT jobs have been outsourced, why not apply for a masters in Social work or nursing? why waste your time) These and many other discouraging remarks were made to me, I disregarded them, isolated myself from their gathering and pursue my dream.
I graduated in May 2014 and today, I am an Information Security Analyst working with the World's Largest Independent Claims Management Company with over 700 offices in 70 countries.
People are always there to discourage you Challenges of life will test your faith |

Walspring: I don't think you are science student for typing this at all...
Are you saying he should go and start undergraduate afresh in U.S. and later go for graduate degree in U.S. when he can use his physics and electronics Nigeria degree to apply for Telecom engineering? This is pathetic if you don't know even wasting of resources, years and so on
Sometimes you need to reason and think before you quote and put people through because there are somethings hidden in most of the questions similar to this that people asked here..
If am not wrong one of the reasons he wanted to do UG in telecom engineering in U.S. might be because of low gpa or something else..
I think Bigfrancis studied Physics electronics or physics something in his UG and he is doing his Msc in telecom engineering or a course related to it..
FYI... I am not VO and i am not determing anyone future here, we are all here to guide ourselves and you should have that at the back of your mind and stop saying what might trigger another person to be harsh on you so that E-war won't start because its been we saw here. Hardly you see me challenging other people suggestion or you see me adding to it positively. well is good to have person like u who see other people's "yansh" but fail to see himself. What am trying to tell u is that don't be quick to respond to someone choice and life decision . check the way other people in this forum give their own advise , give ur own advise. Don't condemn Thanks that is my word for u don't take it personal . U may not like it but is true |

Walspring: do you have good gpa in your undergraduate? If yes why cant you just send your transcript to the school and apply for Msc or you apply as a transfer student if you don't have good gpa. walspring must u determine the part someone should follow .give advise best on ur opinion, not to make it as if that is what needed |
