The Ondo State Police Command, on Tuesday, said it had commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a one-year-old boy, Gold Kolawole, at a popular church in Akure.

This came after an 85-year-old woman went missing at a branch of the Deeper Life Bible Church’s campground in Akure.

It was gathered that the mother of the missing boy took him to the So titobi re Praise Chapel on Sunday but after the service, he was nowhere to be found.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said the personnel of the command had already swung into action to ensure that Gold was found.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has generated revenue of about N1.002 trillion from January to September 2019.

The data from the Department of Research and Statistics and confirmed by the NCS’s public relations office indicated that the revenue was generated from 32 commands.

The statistics showed that the service recorded the highest revenue of N123.6 billion in the month of July followed by N118.6 billion realised in May.

The data also revealed that the lowest revenue was recorded in the month of February with N86.3 billion.


The low in February’s revenue might have been caused by 2019 general elections due to partial closure of borders within those periods of polls.

According to the data, Apapa area command has the highest revenue of N313.5 billion within the period under review.

The statistics also indicated that immediately after the partial closure of borders, the service recorded N115.6 billion in September, with about N6.1 billion more than what was realised in August before borders were closed.

The revenue was generated from import duty, levy, excise duty and other fees.

A graduate of Physics from the Kogi State University, Tomi Waziri, 27, has lost his eyesight to an armed robbery attack while in traffic in the Apongbon area of Lagos.

According to Punch, Waziri, who was waiting for his call up letter from the National Youth Service Corps for the mandatory one year service, was said to have approached his sister’s husband to engage him as a Taxify ride hailing service driver until he would be mobilised for the scheme.

It was learnt that on September 12, two armed robbers attacked him while in traffic and shot him in the face.

Waziri was said to be conveying a female passenger to the Papa Ajao area of Mushin around 8.00 p.m., when the robbers attacked him.

They were said to have left immediately they shot him.

The victim narrated his experience, “I live at No. 35 Daudu Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi. I was robbed in traffic on the Apongbon Bridge, Lagos, on September 12, 2019, by two young men around 8pm. I was a Taxify (now Bolt) driver and I had a female passenger in the car. We were going to Papa Ajao, Mushin.

“One of the robbers pointed a gun at me; I was about giving him my phone, when he shot me in the face and collected the phone. The pellets shattered the window and hit me in my two eyes.

“The robbers ran away immediately I was shot. My passenger became scared and panicky. The next thing I noticed was that she disembarked from the vehicle and began calling for help as she was running away.

“I was bleeding profusely without help. I came down from the vehicle and shouted for help; nobody answered. After about five minutes, two policemen showed up.

“They were the ones who took me to the Military Hospital, Yaba, in my vehicle. One of the policemen drove us to the hospital. While driving, the other was busy holding me and saying kind words to me so that I wouldn’t give up.

“When we got there, I was given first aid to stabilise my condition.

“I lost vision immediately I was shot. After treatment, it is still the same, we are only hoping for God’s intervention. The vehicle belongs to my sister’s husband. I used to remit money to him pending when I would get the NYSC call-up letter.”

According to him, his brother-in-law has been supportive, and is always around for him.

Waziri noted that the doctors at the Eye Foundation, Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, told him that if he had been treated earlier, he would have regained sight in his right eye.

He added, “I went for surgery at the Eye Foundation. Before then, I was being treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, and I was about to do the surgery at LASUTH, but there were delays there.

“It was through God’s help that we were able to do it at the Eye Foundation. And when we got there, we were told that if we had come for the surgery earlier, I would have been seeing with at least my right eye. LASUTH was just negligent and wasting time.

“What the doctors are saying now is that we can only hope for the best; what I know is that there is no vision now.”

Waziri noted that his nose was treated at LASUTH, adding that there were still pellets in his face and two teeth, as there were pellets logged in the gum.

He said the doctors told him that if he wanted to get permanent treatment for his damaged teeth, he would have to pay N350,000 for each.

Concerning the pellets in his face, he said the doctors advised him that any attempt to remove them would result in more damage, adding that his body would expel them naturally.

A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to narrate her experience at a work place where she was offered N15,000 salary as a B.Sc graduate.

According to the lady identified as Warmhony on twitter, she was made to pass through two days of rigorous interview sessions, with many stages, and when the offer came, she was told she would resume work from 7am to 7pm.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Benin zonal office, has arrested eight officials of pay television operators, Communication Trends Limited ( CTL), JAO TV and Worldlink for alleged illegally broadcasting programmes exclusive reserved for Multichoice Nigeria Limited.

It was also learnt that the operators allegedly broadcast the English Premier League (EPL) matches and other content on their network, to the detriment of Multichoice Nigeria which acquired the rights to broadcast the content.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.

He further explained, “They were arrested at their respective locations in Edo and Delta State through intelligence and the support of officials of Multichoice. Those arrested are Faith Ohawe, Tochukwu Nwosu, Nzemere Chika, Joshua Egboyen and Ogujor Franklin. Others Ebuaka Lola, Esekhaige Victor and Kenedy Uduobor

“The pay-TV operators allegedly charge the public between N2500 – N3000 as monthly subscriptions.

“Items recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest include, 2 ADC Telecommunication Amplifier; Seven IRD – 2900 decoders; Three DMP – 900 decoders; Three Starting decoders; Three UMH 260 Encoders; Seven Govt decoders; Five Strong decoders; One HP Laptop computer and its charger; One CPU; One C-Sat, C8pro decoder ; Two BEIN decoders and it’s remote control; Three Trendop decodes ; One Canal decoder ; One CID 3100 decoder; Two DVB Modulator; CTL Antenna; Nexgo POS Machine issued by Zenith bank; One Cole 518E 8cH encod7er; one integrated recover decoder, UMH 150; 13 No degital encoders, Jiehao multiplexer; Four DSTV decoders; Six Gotv decoders ; Two Starting decodes; Six Strong decoders and Others”.

EFCC affirmed that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed.

A catholic nun and a mother superior from Sicily, Italy have been found to be pregnant after they embarked on a mission to work in Africa as missionaries for some time. The pregnancy was discovered when the Nun complained of stomach pains which turned out to be pregnancy when she was taking to hospital for tests.

The problem now is that Nuns usually take vows of chastity which see them remain celibate for the rest of their lives. In this case it would appear the vow has been broken and these women are perhaps not celibate since they already got pregnant in Africa, except ofcourse if the pregnancy had only come through the non-conventional means of getting pregnant.

The two nuns are now preparing for the birth of their babies and they are also under intensive pressure to quit their faith as they have broken several laws and most importantly betrayed their own vows.

The Lagos police command has arrested two suspects for Child Trafficking. .

In a statement by the Command PPRO, Bala Elkana asked anyone with identification to come forward and identify the children.

“On 31st of October at about 2030hrs, detectives from Ojo Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Abdullah Malah, arrested one Chukwunonso Blessing 30yrs of No 23 Masebinu Street, Igbede, Ojo.

She was seen along Alaba International Market with two children namely Joshua James ‘ 6years old and Samuel Gbawune ‘ 3years trying to board a vehicle to Onitsha, Anambra State.

Upon questioning, she claimed that the boys were adopted by her husband one Chukwunoso Happiness ‘aged 40 from a Motherless Baby home in #Jos, #PlateauState and brought to Lagos.

According to her, she was taking them to #Onitsha to meet her husband. At the arrest of her said husband, he confessed he got the kids at the sum of N140,000 from one Mama Oyoo ‘of Jos township”.

Police have asked anyone with identification to come forward and identify the children.

The lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, otherwise called LGBT, in Nigeria is gradually gaining popularity like their counterparts in other parts of the world.

Despite the strict laws against homosexuality in the country, a gay rights activist and public speaker, Bisi Alimi, hosted an event during the week in Lagos State.

Speaking about what inspired the event tagged ‘Night of Diversity 2019’, Alimi told Sunday Scoop, “What propels me is my fundamental human right as a Nigerian to associate and celebrate with whoever I want. It is our own way of creating something for us, who are extremely marginalised in a country like Nigeria and to be able to share our stories with our friends and allies in a space that is safe and allows us to express ourselves.

“Living abroad and seeing how a free environment has positive impact on people’s lives, I felt Nigerians should also enjoy the good things of life. “I wouldn’t say I was scared of the anti-gay law because I strongly believe that the Nigerian government has to understand the importance of the constitution. The law states that when the act of parliament comes in conflict with the constitution, the constitution takes preeminence. And the Nigerian Constitution says that I and people like me have a right to association. I am guessing that Nigeria can try to stop us but they will have to justify that by the constitution.”

The London-based activist maintained that there was no security threat during the event. He said, “There was actually nothing like that. We had a fantastic event and we were not afraid of anyone. Nobody troubled us. We had our friends, families and allies there. We had no reason to be afraid at all. I was impressed by the turnout as over 100 people attended. Meanwhile, traffic was hellish on that day and we thought people would not come, but people braved all odds and attended. That shows how much people have wanted something like that.”

Alimi also noted that ‘it was irresponsible for the government to spend its time on what Bobrisky was doing’. He added, “There are more problems in this country and more issues to pay attention to. I don’t know how Bobrisky’s presence in the country is creating problems for the road, healthcare and many things that the government needs to fix.”

Nigerian superstar,Wizkid and Beyonce are about to make history as they have started filming the music video for their single “Brown Skin Girl”

According to reports, Wizkid and Beyonce have started shooting the music video for “Brown Skin Girl” off the album “The Gift”. The shooting commenced on October 31, 2019, at several locations in London. It was also gathered that Beyonce was calling on ‘black and brown people of different cultures, nationalities, ethnicities, genders and ages’ to come and tell their stories.

Beyoncé wanted this video to truly represent the essence of the song as she wants “normal” people step forward and tell their stories. Sources also reveal that the main focus is on showcasing a variety of body shapes and ages, from as young as six months to the elderly. The video is to be directed by a Nigerian, Jenn Nkiru who has worked with Beyonce on several projects.
