TASTE OF POETRY


Remembering how dull life past was
Only to discover the beauty of poetry
Truly a wondrous delight

Sometimes it leaves my eyes with tears
Sometimes it leaves my lips with a smile
Sometimes it even leaves me ecstatic
But every time my day is refreshed
As I begin to look at things with an artists eye

So I say thanks to all
For adding something good in my life
You have given me a taste of poetry
And now I can’t live without it.

nice poems y'all, i'm loving this thread! here's a piece i wrote a while back. just thot i'll post it here and see what y'all think of it, hola!

she's as graceful as a doe in the wild beauty of the forest
exotic n mild, dainty limbs and bewitching smile
her eyes dance in the light anytime i'm around her
a kiss from her lips is like drinking from the fountain of life
beautiful daughter of eve, ripe and slender like a papaya tree
only a few, know what strenght lies beneath that tender skin
just a fleeting glance, n a thousand words pass between our eyes
so swift n perceptive, she reasons along with my mind
knows how to turn me on, even when i'm down and moody
whispers "i love u" in my ear and holds me tight to her body
she's struck me deep in the heart, and now our souls are entwined
our love for each other is sweeter than the sweetest of wine
she turned my life around, she chased away all my fears
she's always there to support me and shower much love n care
she means the whole world to me, for her i lay down my all
everything that i am, for the angel i love!

The browness of my skin
a little deep feeling within
Some days i feel
ignorance is not innocence but sin

If my heart beats fast
within your love embrace

i watch leaves fall on my toes

In life we admire often
we desire to be lifted higher
happy on the outside & sad deep within

I love the blueness of the sky
I love the whiteness of the clouds

When she came forth,
A tiny alluring creature among mortals,
The room held it's breath,
A melodious soprano filled the air,
The cry of her,
The beginning of a journey through earth,
that very herculean task,
And without the love a mother.

She grew like no other,
Peaceful like she breathlessly laid after birth,
Beautiful as the moon in a dark sky,
A goddess of admiration christened Nigeria,
The very first among its kind.

Taught by a missionary,
Fathered by a white foster-parent,
' He couldn't father the witch who took her mother's life ',
Guided by fate through an angel,
A father she never had,
Her love but lost one,
Lost after he gave out in marriage,
On a sunny rainy 1st of October in 1960,
At a church called Lagos.

A little after then,
It's been neglect, rapes, batterings, poverty , ,
A sad story,
A tale that has just began,
A 46 year old trek,
A tedious horrific walk with her 36 children,
Leading through a dark tunnel,
Anything to gain happiness,
