Poems For ReviewYou Don't Really Know Me. by Ninaperdido(op): 7:29pm On Jun 22, 2017
You don’t really know me,

You might truly care,

But you don’t truly know me.

Why?

Am I not worth knowing?

Am I too difficult to learn?

Am I too complex to understand?

Why can’t you know me?

I more than willing to learn you,

More than willing to understand you,

But are you ready and willing to do the same,

Can you really get to know me?

I hate it when we clash over the little ones,

I hate it when I realize you don’t really know me,

Even though you’re not them,

Even though you hate it when I call you them,

I am afraid you’re just like them,

The difference is how much of you is growing inside me.

But still, you don’t really know me,

And that, is our awful reality.

RomanceHypocrisy(sex) by Ninaperdido(op): 7:23pm On Jun 22, 2017
One of the most controversial and intriguing topics of all time is sex. Since organised societies sprung up during the infancy of mankind, there’s always been a power tussle over the control of sex. Religion, society, the stronger sex et al, these factions want to dictate not just for their adherents and subscribers but to the rest of humanity at large, what to do with their sexual urges. When to have it, when not to, the number of times, even the sort of position, whether or not to use contraceptives etc. Children are being indoctrinated on a daily basis, while adults are being played like saxophones, spilling out whatever tune their Piper wants them to spill.

This is the reality of society as it is. So it’s been since before I was born. Now while I don’t begrudge them their power, it’s the double standards that the adherents and subscribers follow that wounds me up. A lady would tell you that sex is a sin and she’ll be sneaking in male visitors in the cool of the evening. People who have had sex multiple times with multiple partners would be earnestly advising others to save it for their spouses, all these male figures that bear papa or president of fellowships would preach one thing on the altar and then sample the female members in private, many of whom are not so vulnerable. Don’t get me started about the Moslems, their own na worse pass. At night, hijabs transmogrify and possess four feet inside the bushes. I guess I’ve said enough on that.

So that begs the question, why are people like this? many will say it has spiritual implications, and yet they still do it (have sex, while trying to discourage others). Hausa Moslems consider many words relating to sex and reproductive organs as taboos and could come to blows over them yet they disappear and reappear at odd hours. When they do, they take long cleansing ritual baths and recite a lot of Quranic verses.

Why live in chains? Looking over your shoulders. Living double standards, double lives. Emancipate yourself, be responsible for yourself, and best of all, be free. It’s one of the best things about being human. Don’t let anyone ruin it for you. The people who preach to you and dog your footsteps are more dirty than you can ever hope to be………

PoliticsRe: The Current State Of Our Country Is Disorderliness(nothing Is In Order) by Ninaperdido(op): 9:49pm On May 30, 2017
With this mentality, that is why our country is filled with certified thieves.
BankeSmalls:
But paper qualification is Paramount. What message are you sending to the over 130 million students in all levels of Nigerian educational systems all looking for paper qualification if you have a leader who does not possess any paper qualifications?

That will be like taking treatment of Orthodox medicine from a medical doctor who sits nake.d in a shrine cheesy very confusing.

You made a wise decision. But I want you to know that in governance not only paper qualification is needed.
BankeSmalls:
Na for my mouth you wan here am? grin

PoliticsWhat Is The True Problem Of Buhari/osinbanjo Administration??? by Ninaperdido(op): 8:14am On May 30, 2017
Nigeria is a wonderful country and her citizens are as amazing as her. Over the years we've seen leaders(good and bad), we've watched our country's economic level depreciate.
Today we have an administration which has been quite transparent and determined to raise Nigeria from the rubbles she has been left in, but still there are complaints, harassment and abuse heaped on the administration.
So I wanna ask what is really the problem of the present administration, why can't their work been seen, why? What is wrong is wrong with the Buhari/Osinbanjo administration?
PoliticsRe: The Current State Of Our Country Is Disorderliness(nothing Is In Order) by Ninaperdido(op): 7:57am On May 30, 2017
What is your definition of "ILLITERATE"?
BankeSmalls:
Looking beyond paper qualifications to elect illiterates? cheesy
PoliticsRe: The Current State Of Our Country Is Disorderliness(nothing Is In Order) by Ninaperdido(op): 9:57am On May 28, 2017
Well the "PHD" holder didn't much of anything, its high time we look beyond paper qualifications...
BankeSmalls:
We sowed disorderliness, chose a stark illiterate over a PHD holder, what do you expect.
PoliticsThe Current State Of Our Country Is Disorderliness(nothing Is In Order) by Ninaperdido(op): 12:40pm On May 21, 2017
The awful reality of our society is that nothing is in order, the current state of our society is DISORDERLINESS, it is the sad reality.
Nothing is in order because corruption has moved from being just a vice to the "normal" way of life.
Nothing is in order because if you don't cheat to pass an examination or cheat to get a promotion then you're an "idiot" with no plan for the future.
Nothing is in order because the "religious leaders" who are supposed to reduce immoral vices and increase moral living are busy sourcing after their personal gain and adding to the disorderliness of the society.
Nothing is in order because thiefs are celebrated more than honest people.
Nothing is in order because the people choose to be close minded, because the people choose to entertain mental laziness.
Nothing is in order and that is why the citizens don't feel secured about anything.

How do we help our society out of this pit?
How do we save whatever is left of the beauty of our society?
How do we transform the awful reality of disorderliness to orderliness?
I sincerely hope I get a good opportunity to help our society regain its orderliness, I hope we can all work together to make our society better.
FamilyParent Appreciation Series (dad) by Ninaperdido(op): 11:59am On May 16, 2017
It is high time we showed appreciation to the two wonderful people who found each other and worked on a relationship that led to the conception of each and every one of us.
Today goes to the Dads, our very first bodyguards, the first role models {for the sons} and the first picture of a husband{for the daughters}. I call mine Daddy, what do you call yours?
Dear Daddy,
I know you are not perfect, I know how much we clash but I wanna say a big thank you
Thank you for being the responsible head of the family,
Thank you for setting good principles that stick like super duper glue,
Thank you daddy for being my first teacher and my competent Government tutor,
Thank you for not being too high handed and for not being to loosed with your disciplinary methods,
Thank you for your consistency, for striving for a better future for us,
Thank you for giving me the first picture of the kind of man I should settle with,
Thank you for being my Daddy,
I want to also send out my heart felt condolences to as many who have lost their dads, the Lord will fill the void immeasurably.
A special shoutout to the future dads, may you be better than your dads.
This is not a long post, simply comment on what you appreciate your dad for.

RomanceAbusive Love Ain't Love (an Abused Lady Finally Speaks Out And Lets Go) by Ninaperdido(op): 11:51am On May 16, 2017
Do you remember the harsh words, the supposed tough love which carried more abuse than admonition, the look of rejection you gave me, do you remember how many times you made me feel unworthy of your love, do you? Do you remember how many times I kneeled before you begging for your forgiveness both of rational and irrational offences {most were grossly irrational}, the list is endless but I'll stop here. If you don't remember then I do, I remember them like it were yesterday although the pain is healing but the memories remain.
There were questions I wanted to ask you then, I always wanted to ask you why you couldn't love like others did, why your love had so many conditions attached to it. Now, those questions are history and my experience with you have become lessons upon lessons. Although, I must admit you do not bear all the blame for everything wrong in our relationship, I am also to blame because I allowed you run roughshod over me, I allowed you step all over me, I let you and that was the genesis of the abuse.
I am no longer bitter, am rather grateful because you've given me a clear definition of the kind of relationship I should never accept or even settle for again. Someday I might write a book carrying the stories of all my broken relationships and broken dreams, the relationship I shared with you might take up a lot of pages (who knows?), someday when those stories grace the sheets of paper I know it won't be out of bitterness and anger but because I have healed and picked the lessons from all the brokenness.
So you don't have to remember your put downs, your rejections, harsh words or the look of unworthiness you always threw at me when I fell short of your principles, I no longer hold any grudge, I forgive you for not knowing how to love me without conditions and selfish desires, I forgive myself for allowing me settle for your conditioned love. Now you are but a lesson, the relationship is a memory and will always be remembered as a slice of heaven and a bunch of hell. But above everything I want to say thank you for the experience which are lessons, for pushing me so hard to the wall because that led to my freedom and present journey to self discovery and self love

RomanceA Letter From A Love Struck Lady To Her King. by Ninaperdido(op): 9:39am On May 15, 2017
And she said to him,

I don’t know what the future holds,

I wish I could know,

But, all I know is now, right now

All I know is you and all the feelings you evoke in me,

All I know is that every nerve, cell, bone, muscles screams for you alone,

All I want is you,

My morning becomes brighter when I think of you,

My afternoon becomes better when I hear your voice,

My evenings becomes cooler when I feel you closer,

You are my present and I want you to be part of my unpredictable future,

All I want is you,

And no matter what happens,

I will not stop to find a way to make us better.

I LOVE YOU.
Nairaland GeneralBeliefs. by Ninaperdido(op): 9:31am On May 15, 2017
I believe in LOVE, because I have felt its touch.

I believe in HOPE, because I live it everyday.

I believe in INNER BEAUTY, because I have experienced the wonder of its actions.

I believe in INNOCENCE, because I once had it, though its gone but I will always cherish it.

I believe in WRITING, because through it my soul is liberated in more ways than one.

I believe in FAITH, because its the one thing that keeps me closer to God.

I believe in JUSTICE, because it let’s the voice of the innocent be heard.

I believe in KARMA, because its a funny bitch that serves you what you deserve.

I believe in MIRACLE, because LOVE is a miracle.

This post was inspired by a quote I saw which said “When belief is absent, nothing is present”….

There are so many things we all believe in and the truth is, we started believing in certain things after one experience or the other, so tell me what do you believe in, why do you believe in it, what are your beliefs?

Christianity EtcReligion Is Man-made by Ninaperdido(op): 1:36pm On May 10, 2017
From where I come from, religion is a big deal, a very huge deal. If you are not part of a religion, you are tagged as an infidel. Now there are 2 major religions; Christianity and Islam (there are others oh, but these are the big two like Democrat and Republican or PDP and APC), no offence to either but I have come to observe that both religions are in an unconscious [probably conscious] battle of domination. I do not see a Muslim going around trying to convert the whole world even if there is a ridiculous conception that the Muslims have a secret plan to Islamize the whole country [I call it ridiculous because it is a secular country plus its way too heterogeneous], what I do know is that the Islams do not permit you to come into their territory and preach another religion that isn't theirs.
The Christians on the other hand following the instruction in their Holy Book(Bible) wants to convert the whole world and not only that, I have come to observe also that the Christians view other religion as inferior compared to theirs. In the Christian fold there are a lot of umbrellas and you would be surprised that the only thing they have in common is the Bible but they have very different mandates as different as day and night, bottom line there is no unity in the fold.
This post is not to degrade or upgrade any religion, it is simply to point out that in the habit of naming everything the true Supreme Being has been forgotten, sadly this is a reality not many would accept. These days the name of the religion or church stands first and the word of the church leaders stand more ultimate to the people than the word of the Supreme Being. After all this observation I have come to believe and conclude that religion is man-made not Jesus himself and just like every man-made creation, it is open to full corruption and pollution.
N.B. This post is opened to correction, opinions, criticism and advice.
Nairaland GeneralAbout Feminism by Ninaperdido(op): 10:18am On May 10, 2017
Who is a Feminist?

What is Feminism all about?

Is every woman obligated to be a feminist?

Can a man be a feminist?

Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of equality of the sexes. There are societies where women’s right are abused and trampled on because they are women, there are homes where females are treated unfairly, there are homes where females have had to take the backseat on basic stuffs so their brothers can enjoy the benefits because they are females{another man’s soon to be property}, these are just few of it.

With all these, it is only natural a movement will arise, a movement{feminism} which advocates for women’s rights, a movement which has helped to liberate a lot of women and is still going forward to do more. But in every movements there are extremists, there are individuals, sects, groups e.t.c who abuse and misinterpret the true purpose of a movement, these days the feminists that are seen and heard of are far from the true purpose of feminism, they have turned feminism into a war against men and their actions have led to the tag which is placed on nearly every woman who stands as a feminist, the tag is “isolated bitter women and/or man haters”. This post is not to degrade anyone instead it is a wake up call and reminder as to what feminism truly stands for, so back to my initial question;

Who is a Feminist: A feminist is an individual who defends and fights for equal rights of a woman but Ninaperdido believes a feminist shouldn’t just fight, uphold and defend the fair rights of only women, it should be for all human.

What is Feminism About: Feminism is a movement that advocates for equal rights for women, it is a movement that speaks against the injustice done against the fair rights of women, it is a movements that seeks to uphold and protect the fair and merited right of women. It is not by any chance a personal vendetta against, it is not and shouldn’t be, it is not a war against men movement. I strongly believe feminism shouldn’t only advocate for women’s right but also that of men.

Is every Woman obligated to be a Feminist: Personally speaking, I don’t believe every woman is obligated to be a feminist but the conscience in every human cannot turn a blind eye to injustice, so every woman isn’t obligated but every woman can be a feminist.

Can a Man be a Feminist: Yes, a feminist is an individual{man or woman} who advocates for the equal and fair rights of a woman.

Hello, I am Ninaperdido and I need not be a feminist, I believe in giving fair and merited rights not only to women but to every human, I believe in speaking and fighting against the injustice fellow humans suffer.
Nairaland GeneralBe Open-minded And Not Blind by Ninaperdido(op): 10:12am On May 10, 2017
The society I come from is a predominantly religious and superstitious one, where most things are viewed from a more spiritual perspective, where actions are read beyond the physical, where your name is more than just your identity but the part ‘’decider’’ of your destiny………

I personally believe that every human needs something or someone to look unto, to some it is a higher spiritual being, to others it is a fellow human in a higher position and to others they choose to look unto their own strength, capabilities and valor [whatever it may be]. I also believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions & beliefs, and I also believe everyone sticks to what works for them. It is not my intention to degrade or attack the society I come from but I look around these days and I see how real issues are bypassed and justified spiritually, I see how the society is getting so religious and throwing logic to the wind. These days the death of someone is blamed on one demon or witch, these days the infertility of a woman is traced down to one curse or demonic bondage from her family, these days a depressed person commit suicide and there is
a conception that he/she was spiritually manipulated . These are just a couple of instances.
In the plight of gaining a seat in heaven the society is slowly been polluted with fanatics and ignoramus, the society is been filled with people who only follow blindly without questions, people who believe everything hook, line and sinker, the society is been polluted with frauds who are only out to exploit the blind and ignorant ones and fill their [the frauds] pockets with more money. So now I ask, where will all these take us to, what if we wake up one day and see that all these which we thought were ground breaking efforts to make heaven were nothing but misconceptions and futile efforts? What do we do then…
I sincerely hope our society wakes up soon and realize that everything must be balanced and that we can’t rob Peter to pay Paul, that physical problems do exist and they need to be combated with the physical solutions, being religious isn’t wrong but being superstitious and turning into a blind fanatic, that is where the issue lies, there is no crime in being open minded.
