I am currently building a website that has both forum and social networking features including chat platform. Since I'm going to need to know when every user is online or offline, I used ajax to create an xmlhttprequest/activexobject that updates a datetime cell named 'online' on my mysql table with php. Now, this script runs every 1000 milliseconds so any online cell that is not updated within 5 seconds is tagged offline. It runs fine on my PC but since I haven't hosted any site online before, I'm not sure if it will overload my server when my users start increasing in number. So, the question is - will this overload my server or crash my database? If so, what are the adjustments I can make or is there a better option?

I have two SATA hard drives that are not working. One(toshiba) fell down and the other(seagate) just stop working. At first the seagate was still clicking but now, it's not even responding at all. The toshiba also read two out of four partitions at first but couldn't read any now.
They are both partitioned into four each. There is a friend that had similar problem I have with my toshiba with his harddisk but after several attempt of formatting for like 6 months it finally worked but I want to recover my own data on both HDD. Pls, if there is any specialist passing by...

Thanks. I already downloaded it. What if install it anyway, will it affect my previous installation or update it? And what if I uninstall WampServer and Xampp before individually installing apache and PHP, will my browser run PHP pages. Thanks in advance!

I know HTML CSS and JavaScript pretty well but I'm very new with PHP and MySQL programming. I want to learn it so I downloaded WampServer and Xampp so I can preview it without uploading to a web hosting server but the pdf tutorial book I'm using (beginning PHP and MySQL from Novice to Professional by W. Jason Gilmore) asked me to download and install apache, PHP among others. My question: Do do I need to download all these again?

My small notebook of Intel Atom 3150, 2G RAM and 250 HDD is running Windows 7 Ultimate, Adobe PS, Adobe AE, Autodesk 3Ds Max, 3 Grand Theft Auto Franchise and loads heavy games (I use TnL and Pixel Shader Emulators), Reason, FL Studio and many more heavy softwares.

It won't cost you much. Just check in the nearest chemist and buy a powerful sleeping pill. Pay her a visit early in the morning and spike her tea with it. She will hopefully wake up the next day and take all the blame. Have a nice val.

I got both from a friend but the WampServer is x64 which is not compatible with my system while Xampp (zip) is not running the apache service. I'm currently downloading the exe version of Xampp (99mb) and just wondering which is better.
