What are the similarities between a wedding and a burial?
You are the one who doesn't know left from right. ![]() You have only been to weddings, for to say you haven't heard omo olooku ojogbon before. ![]() Again...See a doctorHow many times do I have to tell you that I am more knowlegdeable than all these doctors you are creaming over? ![]() Again, I reiterate, I nor dey go doctor side! ![]() |

Shugamania: Nitty, stop forming words there.Olodo ni iwo naa.... ![]() I no wan explain am before, but for the purpose of educating you people, i go do am. ![]() If you go to a typical yoruba burial ceremony, you will hear people eulogise anybody directly related to the person being buried with panegyrics like "Omo oloku òjogbòn.......(insert other family, lineage or ancestral panegyrics here.)" ![]() Note the amin ohun on the ojogbon (do re do) i spelt, that its different from that of ojogbon (do do mi) which you olodos are inferring. Ojogbon put in context - as used in my one line panegyric is simply a witty figure of speech. An hyperbole and at the same time a pun to be precise.... At least you people know the meaning of ojogun na, i.e. one who inherits something from the property of a dead person. And it is typical that its those related to the deadi body wen go fit inherit part of im property.... So the akewi or anybody singing the praise of a relative cheekily use ojogbon instead of ojogun. Ogbon is 30 and ogun is 20 - the pun. You can only je ogun, you cannot je ogbon - the hyperbole. Can you now see that i sabi wetin i dey yarn, na una be olodo ![]() And about Fagunwa, kini iyato ninu efa ohun eje? What's the difference between J and D? .... ![]() |
Does it not mean professor? ![]() Wat has it got to do in that context
Apparently, you are not that vast in yoruba as I initially thought. Have you no idea that several times, the same word -so to say- can be used in different contexts to mean different things? ![]() This lends more credence to the fact that you are Bantu. ![]() One day in heaven is 1000 years on earthYou think he didnt factor all these in? You are mistaken! Grandpa had on a Rolex working in synchronism with actual date and time on earth. In other words, His one week is the same actual one week as it is obtainable on earth. ![]() |
