pocohantas:Money is used for solving and preventing problems. If you don't try new things, you won't discover better things. |
I tried to compare my induction cooktop with my 1.5hp LG inverter AC. My AC is 1,200watts. While my cooktop is 1,800watts even though I use the pressure cook of 1000watts and I can still select lower power depending on what I'm cooking. So, I can say the induction cooktop consumes less than inverter AC that runs for a long period. I also compared with my electric kettle and my kettle is 1,700 watts rated. If I use 1000wats to make soup, it won't be up to 1hour to cook. So, it's costing me less than N250 for the electric units. Even if gas costs the same N250 to make same soup, I would prefer induction cooktop provided there's light. I just love simplicity and easy life.

aminusodiq:I can see 1200 wats for indomie whereas I used 1000watts for beans with my induction cooker. Check my review of induction cooker here https://www.nairaland.com/8266153/finally-got-induction-cooker-tried |
doggedfighter:It's more friendly than gas. I used pressure cooker setting for my beans and it rated 1000w. It didn't take up to 1 hours for me to finish the cooking. But assuming it took 1 hours to cook, that means it used 1unit of my prepaid and 1unit here Costs about N250. That means I used 250 naira gas to cook my beans but is that possible? Moreover, it has lower rating for other type of cooking like steaming, frying and so on. So, you can use as low as 200w, 300w, 800w and even even higher depending on what you are cooking. |
doggedfighter:Yes, in Lagos |
meobizy:You are right. I actually had to make the research and take the risk. And now, I'm enjoying it. |
talk2ibk:Thanks for your compliment |
Here is the set of pots. Notice where they indicated the induction bottom. But if this is not indicated in the carton, you can use a magnet to test if the bottom is magnetic. Once it attracts the magnet, it will work with the cooker

I went through this thread https://www.nairaland.com/8261562/electric-cooker-really-prepaid-meter/2#132792231 The Op was asking for infrared cooker if it's prepaid meter friendly and some guys suggested induction cooker. I made further research about the induction cooker and decided to go look for it myself at the market. You hardly see the induction cooker in shops. What's readily available is infrared. I priced one infrared and the woman said it's 32k last. I asked her about induction and she was convincing me that they're all the same. Oya give me the induction, she said she doesn't have. Where can I get it? Check the next shop. That's how I searched until I got it in a guy's shop. It's not even displayed in the shop, he has to go bring it from the warehouse because many people don't use it. Many people don't use it because it selects pots. The pot must have a bottom that supports induction. In other words, the bottom must be attracted to magnets. Finally, the guy agreed to sell to me for 25k. But I didn't pay. I had to go look for the pots that will work with it. Unfortunately, some of the pot sellers don't know about the induction pot. The ones I saw for those who knew what I was looking for called it 140k. Some 130k some 120k ans so on. The pots come in set and they don't sell them separately. I entered many shops until I finally saw a set of 3 pots for 60k. The cheapest so far. It was above my budget but I closed my eyes to pay for it. And then, went back to pay for the induction cooktop. I took them home and tried it with beans first. The thing can cook fast oo. I selected the pressure cook button and it showed 1000wats. Before I knew it, the thing started boiling. The advantage of the cooktop is that it is faster and doesn't consume much energy. Also, it doesn't heat the environment. It's neat. The only disadvantage is that you must use magnetic pot which is expensive but it's worth it.

Sharpsharp00123:I don't normally engage illiterates like you. Like you don't know that two governors have ruled Anambra after him. Like the Lagos your lord, Tifnubu ruled is a paradise. I'm happy with the way Nigeria is sinking right now. It can only lead to the breakup of the sheet-hooowl so I don't be in the same country as your type.

Sharpsharp00123:If i were obi, i would leave nigerians to continue to suffer |
When we were telling you that Jonathan was better than Buhari, you thought we were being tribal. Tinubu only played you all with the APC change mantra. Because, when u are at a place, the place you're not at begin to hungry u. Change! Change! Change! We are enjoying it. Tinubu exploited your gullibility |
Negroid001:why are you acting like you don't know that two governors have handled anambra after obi? Are u stupid? |
tundegan:But its not good naa. If he was going to be the president just for himself and his family, it is pure wickedness. Nothing like God being on his side. In a corrupt country like Nigeria, only corrupt people thrive. |
Before the 2023 elections, Naija was one big comedy show. Nigerians were throwing bants left and right at Tinubu. "Baba hand dey shake, e dey fall like say breeze blow am," they said. I mean, people even sang songs about it! 🎶 "Tinubu hand dey shake, Tinubu dey fall!" It was like one Nollywood movie where the hero is in trouble. Fast forward to election results... Baba no fall o! Instead, he rose (literally) to Aso Rock! 😅 Now, here's where the twist gets juicy. Since Baba entered office, the economy don do backflip—everything don cost, hunger dey wire everybody, and the same Nigerians who were laughing are now the ones shaking and weak, like we're all auditioning for "Survivor: Nigeria" 😭. Meanwhile, Tinubu wey dem talk say e no strong? The man don transform! Baba is looking like he discovered the fountain of youth. No more shaking, no more falling. Now it's us that are falling for ground, weak from hunger. Baba is there glowing like say na spa treatment he enter, while we dey cry, “who go help us o?” Nigeria na full-blown plot twist movie, my people! Who would have thought?! 😂😂 |
gabmanuel:Its not his fault. Nigerians hate themselves. Better to split the country but we are heading towards that side. |

I know I'm not the only one passing through this. So, MOD, please endeavor to take this to front page for wider viewing and responses. Me and my co-tenant are using same prepaid meter and we are in band A. I'm not always at home while my neighbor is always home and using big machines for his jobs. He acknowledged the fact he's consuming more. We pay like 100k in a month. While I pay 40k, he pays 50 to 60k but I know I don't use up ti that 40k. We don't always turn on AC and my fridge and AC is low power inverter type. I also have inverter that which i know I can use to economize my usage sometimes.

Moderator, please do the needful because this issue has caused several fights among tenants and neighbors. |
Brendaniel:It's not fair. So long as someone has indicated interest, why should the person be denied? |
This is just like robbing Peter to pay Paul. How can school fees increment be for everyone but the students loan can not be for everyone who applied? I'm honestly heartbroken. How can we call ourselves one Nigeria when tribalism is still tearing us apart, especially when it comes to something as crucial as education? My brother, a hardworking student of a university in the South West, applied for the NELFUND student loan at the same time as his Yoruba coursemate. Both of them are struggling with the increased tuition fees imposed by the government. But while his coursemate’s loan was swiftly approved, my brother’s application is still pending. What’s even more painful according to him is that every single Yoruba student who applied got their loan without any issues, while Igbo students like my brother are left hanging, waiting, and hoping for some relief. This isn't fair. The hardship in Nigeria affects us all. Everyone needs support, no matter where they’re from or what language they speak. Yet, it seems like tribalism has found its way into a program that was supposed to help us all equally. How do we justify this? I’m calling on NELFUND and the Nigerian government to look into this. If we truly want to build a united country, we must treat every Nigerian fairly—whether Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, or any other tribe. We’re all struggling, and we all deserve a chance to succeed.

helinues:hahaha! For your mind. You are only dealing with hunger and high cost of living brought about by you and your party, APC ![]() Back to the topic: Reno is inconsequential. The day Obi mistakenly begs Reno is the day I will stop supporting Obi. |
yarimo:By the time Tinubu is done dry cleaning Nigerians, there would be no moisture left un Nigerians. The hardship currently experienced is just the beginning. APC is a curse to Nigeria. |
