Politics / We Recovered Arms, Ammunition From IPOB Agents In Akwa Ibom – Police by Noerection: 10:16pm On Sep 01
THE Akwa Ibom State Police command on Sunday said it recovered arms and ammunition allegedly from suspected agents of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, during an intensive Patrol operation.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

The statement noted that ,however, no arrest was made by the police operatives during the intensive patrol, as two to young men on sighting the Police and abandoned their Lexus Jeep and escaped into the bush.

This is even as the statement did not identify among the recovered items something linking the fleeing suspects to IPOB.

It reads, “In its quest to purge the State of crimes and criminal elements, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Thursday , August, 29, 2024 recovered arms and ammunition from suspected IPOB agents during an intensive Patrol operation.

“The recovery was made by the Command’s operatives who were on intensive patrol along Stadium Road in Abiakpo Edem Inyang Village, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area upon intelligence information that IPOB were planning to launch an attack on the State and her facilities.

“During the patrol, the Team flagged down a Lexus Jeep with Registration Number KUJ 886 FF. On sighting the police, two unidentified young men came down from the jeep and took to their heels into the nearby forest.

“While searching the Vehicle, the team recovered one AK 47 rifle loaded with 8 No of 8MM ammunition; one locally made long range pistol, one cartridge, 4 different vehicle number plates, Zenith and Access Banks ATM Cards, National Drivers’ License card, black coloured clothes, bags containing substances suspected to be indian hemp and a torchlight.

“The team, with the assistance of the village youth combed the forest in search of the fleeing suspects. But no arrest has been made this far. The team is not resting on it’s para as it is determined to fetch the suspects and whoever is their sponsors and accomplices.

“The Command appeals to residents of the community and State to be vigilant and report suspicious and unknown movements to the Police for outright action”, the statement noted.

Igbos are not the only people living in South East, there are Yorubas, Hausas, Binis etc. in the region and their rights to free movement must not be infringed on .

The Igbos in South West are going about their businesses without disturbance, so why should Igbos be disturbing other tribes living in South East with sit at home and whatnot??.
Later now they'll be playing victims when Yorubas start calling them out.
IPOB terrorists can not think straight

Some people (like the lady above me) believe that the lockdown only affects government institutions without dealing with the common man. You guys are jokers I swear. You and I will read about ipob a.k.a unknown gunmen enforcing this madness by trashing their fellow ibos.

BTW why is Peter obi silent on the matter
only the stubborn Ibos will be affected who can not listen to simple instructions from Simon Ekpa

The one month lock down doesn't affect people going about their normal businesses, but it's strictly to shut down all Nigeria institutions in the Biafran territory.
is this a month lockdown also affects Federal Hospitals and Universities?

Following the one month sit-at-home declared by the Simon Ekpa’s Biafra Liberation Army of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) from August 28 – September 28, the Imo State Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma has deployed a water tight security in all the targeted areas mentioned by the group.

To reassure staff of the State ministries, the CP personally led his men to the secretariat on Wednesday where he assured them of their safety.

During the visit, Danjuma engaged with the civil servants, assuring them of the Command’s readiness and commitment to their protection.

He equally told them that the command has detailed the mobilization of well-equipped operatives and promised the implementation of enhanced security strategies to ensure a safe working environment in the secretariat and other areas in the State.

“This strategic move underscores the Command’s dedication to upholding peace and security throughout the state”. Danjuma stated.
