A story shared by Fejiro Oliver on his Facebook profile. Read below Rukayya, a 4 year old girl from Zaria fell sick and was taken to a Hospital in Zaria. (I am withholding the name of the hospital for some reasons). After running some preliminary laboratory tests, Rukayya's parents were told their daughter was a sickler, that she has malaria. They treated her,and they left for home. When Rukayya's condition didn't improve, her parents took her back to the hospital &was admitted immediately. She was transfused with blood through a vein in her leg, because according to them, they could not find any in her hands. After the transfusion, she was discharged to go home. Later on, the leg became swollen and Rukkaya had to be taken back to the hospital. Rukkaya's parents were told to take her back home ,elevate her legs and administer ice therapy. When that didn't work, Rukayya was taken back to the hospital again where the parents met the hostility of the staff on duty. But they were eventually attended to; they examined the affected leg. and when they realized they could not handle the case anymore, they were referred to ABU Teaching Hospital Shika-Zaria. On getting to A.B.U.T.H, Rukkaya was immediately taken to the emergency room and the doctors after examination told her parents that Rukayya's leg needs to be amputated immediately due to the infection that is spreading in her leg. Rukayya eventually lost a leg. Further tests carried out at Shika revealed Rukayya was not even a sickler, and the peripheral Hospital misdiagnosed her from the start. GIWAC has filed a petition on behalf of Rukkaya to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Commissioner of police, Speaker state house of assembly, the elected members representing her constituency (Basawa constituency)in the state assembly and the chairman of her local government (Sabon gari). See Previous Story Five-year-old Aliyah Masaku, who was attacked by three dogs in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, has died. Aliyah died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, on Wednesday after she was transferred from the Ikorodu General Hospital, where she was first admitted. PUNCH Metro had reported that Aliyah was sleeping at their house on Alhaji Abdul Hakeem Bin Sulaimon Avenue, off Ewuren Road, Ikorodu, when an Alsatian dog broke loose. The dog, Rover, was one of 15 other dogs owned by the landlord who is based in London, United Kingdom. It reportedly dragged Aliyah to the back of the house where two other Alsatian dogs joined it in attacking her. They inflicted multiple injuries on her body in an attack residents said lasted for about two hours. The father, Wasiu, who was responsible for the care of the dogs, had reportedly gone to buy the dogs’ feed when the incident happened on Monday. Around 11pm of that day, some residents reportedly invaded the house and killed Rover. Aliyah was taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital. The father told our correspondent around 4pm on Wednesday that his daughter had a minor surgery at the hospital, before she was transferred to LASUTH. He said, “This afternoon, the doctors said her condition had worsened and she was not breathing normally again. They said they would need to take her to the Intensive Care Unit where I would spend about N500,000 per day. They have not been asking for money from me, except for the drugs. Please help me ask Nigerians for support.” Around 6pm, Wasiu informed PUNCH Metro that Aliyah had been pronounced dead and broke down in tears. He lamented that his life would never be the same again. The Director of the Office of Public Defender, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, expressed sadness at the news, adding that measures were being taken to forestall a recurrence in the state. Salami said the agency was making an arrangement to remove the 15 dogs in the house where the incident happened. “This is very sad. The girl sustained too many injuries. She was a victim of negligence and greed. We will be going to the house to remove the dogs on Friday,” she added. Source: http://punchng.com/five-year-old-attacked-three-dogs-dies/

Remember Pastor, Light Monyeki from Soshanguve, South Africa, who made his church members drink 'anointed' rat poison? Well five members of the church who drank the poison are reportedly dead. The pastor tried to prove to his members that they were sub-human and couldn't die from drinking the lethal dose of rat poison that he had 'anointed', well, he was proven wrong with the death of 5 of his members. After his members drank the poisonous liquid, all of them started to complain of stomach pains by the evening of the same day. 13 of them were admitted in hospitals for treatment while 5 of them died. Monyeki has denied responsibility of the death of the 5 members. Police have now been involved in the case and they are investigating the matter. So far, nobody has been arrested. More accounts have emerged on the events leading to the crash of a 59-passenger luxury bus on its way from Aba, Abia State, which plunged into a canal at Owode Elede, Lagos, killing three passengers and injuring 23 others. One of the passengers in the bus, Kenneth Ohai, said as the bus hit the median around 3am on Friday morning and veered off the road, nosediving into the canal in the process, the little child his co-passenger was carrying on her lap bounced off the window and fell into the water. He said the woman immediately dived out of the window to save her baby. Saturday PUNCH confirmed from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency that the unidentified woman and her child were unharmed, as they were both rescued after. According to LASEMA, the child could not have been more than one year old. Ohai, who was also one of the unharmed passengers rescued at the scene, explained that he believed that the driver must have been momentarily distracted before the crash. “It was not as if there was a tyre blowout. Truly, if it had slowed down in that part of the road, the bus would not have hit the concrete demarcating the road. “When it hit the median, the speed was too much for the driver to put the bus right and it went the other way again and hit the side of the canal. We were all screaming as it went down. The way it fell, I thought a lot of people would have died.” Another survivor, Kelechukwu Ese, said many of his co-travellers escaped through the windows of the bus, adding that he could not explain how he found himself beside the canal. He said, “I boarded the bus from Enugu State. I wanted to attend an event in Yaba, (Lagos). I sat by the window side and was asleep. Screams of other passengers woke me up. I thought I was dreaming. People started jumping out of the windows. And before I knew what was happening, I landed on the ground with my knees. “I didn’t feel the pain initially and that was why I declined to be taken with others to a hospital after we were given first aid treatment. I am now feeling some pains.” One of the three fatalities of the bus crash was the bus conductor, who was said to have fallen into the water because he sat beside the door. A LASEMA official said that as he fell, the bus might have fallen on him. The rescue operation at the scene of the accident was carried out by officials of LASEMA, Lagos State Fire Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Rapid Response Squad and operatives from the Owode Police Station. Nine passengers with more serious injuries were rushed to the Lagos State Trauma Centre at the tollgate for treatment, while 14 persons were reportedly treated on the spot by men of the Lagos State Ambulance Service and luggage of the victims were handed over to the police. One of the residents, Atolagbe Akande, a local diver, who assisted emergency officials in the rescue operation, said he was woken up by the impact of the crash. He said, “My house is not far from the canal. Around 3am, I heard a loud sound of something falling. I initially thought I was dreaming. Subsequently, I heard cries for help. That was when I realised something terrible had happened. “I called some neighbours and went to the scene. The emergency officials also arrived the scene a few minutes after.” The wreckage of the vehicle was removed from the canal with a LASEMA crane and towed to the Owode division. “One of the deceased was identified as Yahya Sidi, a driver, aged about 40 years,” an official told Saturday PUNCH. The LASEMA General Manager, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, urged motorists to exercise caution on roads, adding that proper investigation would be carried out on the accident. He said, “The agency received a distress call at about 3.23am on Friday via the emergency toll free number 767/112 concerning a luxury bus with registration number GDD 386 YE Anambra, which belongs to GUO Transport Service Co. Limited. The bus was en route to Maza Maza from Aba, Abia State. “According to preliminary investigations conducted at the scene of the incident, the bus skidded off its track while speeding and plunged into the canal. “The bus with 59 passengers on board had 23 people injured and were treated on the spot by a joint team of LASEMA paramedics and LASAMBUS. “Nine out of the treated victims were taken to the Lagos State Trauma Centre at the tollgate for further treatment, while two adult males and a female were recovered dead from the canal. “Motorists should be safety-conscious and avoid excessive speeding while driving, especially when embarking on night journeys.” The FRSC Sector Commander, Lagos State Command, Hygnius Omeje, confirmed that two bodies had been recovered as of 6am, saying that casualties could be more. “As of the time I got the report from our men at the scene, two bodies had been found, while the divers continued searching. A couple of others were injured,” he said. Source: http://punchng.com/bus-crash-woman-dived-window-save-baby-eyewitness/ lalasticlala
