A lecturer Dr. Fasheku, in the department of philosophy at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, on Friday, reportedly ordered a student out of his class for dressing indecently to the Amphitheater lecture hall, during Philosophy 104 class.


The 100 level student (pictured) allegedly caused major distraction and loss of concentration, with her entry into the hall, prompting the lecturer to give her her marching orders. She was also said to have been trolled, by her colleagues, on her way out.

Women of Orhorho community, Ughelli South LGA, Delta State, protesting incessant rape and attack by herdsmen, barricaded the East-West Road, yesterday morning, preventing vehicles from the Warri and Port Harcourt ends from passing through. .

The mothers and daughters of the community, numbering about 1,000, who sat on benches and woods on the expressway, blocked the highway at about 7.30a.m., following a brutal attack, yesterday morning, on a woman that went to the farm. .

The victim, who fought off attempt by the herdsmen to rape her, was cut several times with machete by her assailants, who left her for dead. When other women in the community got to know about the incident, they staged a protest and blocked the expressway in their community.

Ediale Ayodele, 35, has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, for stabbing an official of Ikeja Electric.


Ayodele, who lives at No. 6, Ayodola Close, Akonwonjo, allegedly stabbed the official who was on a routine forecast drive in the area. .

The official was said to have come to the said property to check on a disconnection carried out some weeks back when the altercation occurred.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Mathew Oguntade, for allegedly killing his wife, Mary Oguntade, during a fight at their house at Owode-Ijako, in Ado Odo/Ota LGA of the state.


The incident happened on Friday, January 13, 2017, at about midnight. The husband reportedly strangled his wife to death and threw her body outside through their window, and ran away. He was later apprehended and taken into custody.

Dolapo Makunjuola was on Saturday, crowned the “Queen of the Virgins” at the 2017 Miss Virginity beauty pageant held inside the headquarters of Surulere LGA of Lagos. She emerged winner out of 35 contestants. .

An excited Makunjuola said she intends being a virgin until she's ripe for marriage. No gynaecological test was conducted to ascertain their virginity, each of them only answered questions mostly on current affairs.


Adunni Adediran, the organiser, said the contest was an avenue to propagate the importance of women keeping their virginity till their wedding night. .

She said she was “called to order” by the Lagos State Ministry of Education, forcing her to stop the practice of bringing a gynaecologist to confirm the virginity of prospective contestants.


"We used to have a gynecologist who examines the girls before the event, but the ministry of education invited me and told me they disliked the attitude of a man looking at the girls privacy and I was depressed that day.


But was it not better for one man, a federal gynaecologist in a twinkle of an eye, to check if they were virgins or not, than the girls selling themselves from one bed to another bed?" Ms. Adediran said.

One of the contestants, 40-year-old Veronica Nwokedi said she heard about the pageant for virgins last year through her brother’s wife’s friend who is also a virgin.
