PoliticsRe: Rivers Assembly Crisis: The Affidavit Sworn By Amaewhule And Co At The FHC by Noneroone(m): 5:38am On Jul 10, 2024
ZIAZI:
Because of Rivers State politics, everyone has now been called to the Nigerian Bar as a lawyer.
Just take a look at you mixing up issues with bitter sentiments and emotions.😂😂😂

Before enlightening you as I always do, I want to confirm if it wasn't the same you that jubilated when Justice Wali of the SHC gave a judgement when he had no jurisdiction to do so? You are simply a pained hypocrite.

First, you just wasted your time attacking Justice J.K Omotosho for naught. If them bring defamation suit for your head now, you go dey scream blue murder.

The affidavit you highlighted had absolutely nothing to do with J.K Omotosho.

The affidavit was presented before Justice Okorowo of the FHC, Abuja and not Justice Omotosho as you have claimed. The affidavit was presented in 2023 and Okorowo's order was made in 2023.

Omotosho's order came exactly on the 22nd day of January 2024. These are two different cases.

On the issue of affidavit, the law is that it is a statement of declaration of facts under oath. I agree with you on that. However, the court has held in the case of Agbaje v. Ibru Sea Food Ltd (1972) 7 NSCC 388 that affidavit is evidence which a court can act on unless matters of facts stated therein are manifestly untrue.

In the light of the preceding paragraph, PDP and APC have come out to support Hon. Amaewhule openly that there was no defection. These are the major parties involved. Can it not be said that the facts therein are manifestly untrue? Dey play!

Again, are you aware that it was Amaewhule who instituted that matter before Justice Okorowo? Are you also aware that he can decide to withdraw the matter and everything would die a natural death? He will only be liable for cost.

PLEASE STOP MASQUERADING YOUR IGNORANCE OF LEGAL ISSUES AS KNOWLEDGE.
withdraw the case? You must be kidding me. How can you withdraw a case where judgement has been delivered?

Affidavit is a statement of facts under oath. It might not be enough proof they joined APC but is a strong enough proof they left PDP and denounced all association with the party. PDP claims about them not "defecting properly" is a lame excuse as far as this case is concerned. You can't force someone to become part of an organisation against his will. It's like a court upholding an election result simply because it came from INEC not minding proven evidence of irregularities before the court.

PoliticsAnioma State: Nwoko Visits Owa, Meets Traditional Rulers by Noneroone(op): 7:17am On Jul 06, 2024
The Most Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko has said that the underlying intention of creating Anioma State is to check marginalization and correct equity imbalance in the South-East region of Nigeria.

He gave this explanation while briefing royal fathers at a meeting of the Anioma Traditional Rulers Committee, held in Owa Monarch's Palace at Owa Oyibu in Ika North-East local government area of Delta State.

Nwoko convincingly narrated the origin of the drastic move by him to quickly seize the opportunity provided by the Special Committee of the Senate - Constitution Amendment Committee to create just seven states in all the geopolitical zones of Nigeria, with Anioma conspicuously being mentioned in a privileged document.

He revealed that the Senate has created this Special Committee made up of 36 members, one each from the 36 states in Nigeria, and he was privileged to be a member from Delta State.

He further posited that the creation of Anioma State was possible based on his private meeting with the President; and he called on all and sundry to support the move as what Anioma people had desired in the past 50 years.

According to the Senator, "I know I have the protection of the royal fathers to be here. Just last week here that I was in town, I visited our father the Obi of Owa on Sunday, who said to me that I was the only Prince in Anioma that has risen to the level of becoming a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. And he assured me that the Traditional institution and the people would always rise to defend, encourage and support me to succeed.

"On that premise, I have come back out of respect in just few days to honour this invitation. And like always my royal fathers, my intention has always been in the best interest of Anioma people and the progress of our motherland.

"Let me assure you that it is in my place to speak for my people and fight to attract what is rightfully theirs to them. The Anioma State creation is what we have always wanted; and that is what I am fighting for and nothing more", Nwoko affirmed.

Earlier in their submission, the monarch of Owa Kingdom, HRM Obi (Dr) Emmanuel Efeizomor as Chairman of the Anioma Traditional Rulers Committee, had acknowledged the world-wide news on the creation of Anioma State.

He said that in their meeting of June 26, 2024, they had decided to invite the Senator to brief them on the issue of Anioma State creation in order for all to be on the same page on the issue.

On his part, the 2nd Vice Chairman of Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers and monarch of Ubulu-Uno Kingdom, HRM Obi Henry Kikachukwu averred that there had been varied commentaries on the Anioma State creation issue, maintaining that such had informed their decision to invite the Distinguished Senator to officially brief the Traditional Rulers.

Earlier in the Senator's narration, some youths who found their ways into the meeting hall with sinister motives, had made frantic efforts to disrupt the Senator's speech, but they were met with stiff resistance too as the Senator insisted on briefing the royal fathers. He however had his way as the meeting was relocated to another location within the palace.

The court didn't rule on the merit of the case rather the jurisdiction of the court. The best bet for Fubara is to get a stay of execution and appeal to the supreme court. But this will be just to buy time and pursue the case already instituted by the BOOT party at the federal high court PH. I know the supreme court will uphold court of appeal's decision.

SmartPolician:
Jokers! The smallest region by landmass wants to create two additional states. If Tinubu is serious about returning Nigeria to regions, this is the right time to do it. South East doesn't need any more state. The Anioma State can be created out of Delta and added to the 5 states of the South East, thereby making it six states.

PoliticsNational Assembly Pushes For Two More South East States by Noneroone(op): 7:20am On Jul 03, 2024
The Senate, on Tuesday, passed for first reading bills seeking to create two additional South-East states to increase states in the region to seven.

This was as a bill seeking the creation of Etiti State in the South-East geo-political zone was read for the first time on the floor of the House of Representatives during plenary on Tuesday.

The development comes about three weeks after another bill seeking the creation of Orlu State out of Imo, Abia, and Anambra states similarly passed the first reading on June 6.

The states proposed separately by Senators Ned Nwoko (PDP, Delta North) and Okechukwu Ezea (LP, Enugu North) are the Anioma and Adada states, respectively.

Nwoko’s bill seeks to alter three sections of the 1999 Constitution, to delete the word 36 and replace it with the word 37 to accommodate the new state and to insert the word Anioma, immediately after Delta in the list of states contained in the Constitution.

The proposed Anioma State would encompass the local government areas of Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North-East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, and Ukwuani, with Asaba designated as the state capital.

The Delta Senator added, “I am presenting a bill for the creation of Anioma State to correct this historical oversight. Anioma is composed of nine local government areas, six of which are rich in oil and gas resources.

“The region also boasts significant human capital, making it a viable and sustainable candidate for statehood. Creating Anioma state is not just about increasing the number of states; it is about ensuring fair representation and resource allocation for the South East.”

In the House of Representatives, five members of from the South-East, proposed the creation of Etiti State to be carved out of the present Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states.

It will have 11 local government areas drawn from the five states with the capital to be located at Lokpanta.

The sponsors of the bill are Amobi Ogah, Miriam Onuoha, Kama Nkemkama, Chinwe Nnabuife and Anayo Onwuegbu.

They want an alteration of Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution, by replacing 36 states with 37 states.

The bill also seeks to alter the listing of local government areas according to states and transfer the 11 local government areas from their current states to the proposed Etiti State.

The local governments to be affected if the state is created are Isuikwuato and Umu-Nneochi (Abia), Orumba North and Orumba South (Anambra), Ivo and Ohaozara (Ebonyi), Aninri, Awgu and Oji River (Enugu) as well as Okigwe and Onuimo (Imo).

The bill comes about three weeks after one seeking the creation of Orlu State to be carved out of Imo, Abia, and Anambra states, passed the first reading in the House of Representatives on June 6.

The bill was sponsored by the lawmaker representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency, Imo State, Ikenga Ugochinyere, and others.

The bill also seeks to amend the 1999 Constitution by inserting a new paragraph, which will include 28 local government areas, namely Orlu, Orsu, Oru West, Oru East, Ideato North, Ideato South, Njaba, Nkwerre, Nwangele, Isu, Oguta, Ohaji Egbema, Onuimo, Ihiala, Uga, Ihiala, Uli, Ozubulu, Akokwa, Arondizuogu, Umuchu, Umunze, Umuaku, New Ideato North, Nwabosi West, Nwabosi East, Owerre Nkworji, Alaoma, Amaifeke, and Owerrebiri Umuowa.

Ugochinyere, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, appealed to his colleagues at the National Assembly to support the bill to ensure its passage through a second reading.

He stated that the creation of Orlu State would lead to the emergence of Ideato as a senatorial district. In the current political configuration, the North-West comprises seven states while the North-East, North-Central, South-South and South-West consist of six states each. Only the South-East has five states.

However, the South-West is seeking the creation of Oke-Ogun State, which, when created, would bring it at par with the North-West.

In another development, youths in Aniocha and Oshimili in Delta state protest the exclusion of their area into the South East Development Comission Bill.
