Politics / Rivers Police Commissioner, Eboka Friday Confirms The Killing Of Seven Policemen by Noneroone(m): 12:48pm On May 08, 2021
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday has confirmed an attack on some police stations and checkpoints in Rivers State during which seven policemen were feared dead Friday night.

Speaking to the press on the matter, the CP said he was leading an investigation team to ascertain what actually happened.

The Rivers State Police boss on Saturday morning said he was leading a team to the place.

“Yes, that is what we heard. I am on my way to the place. I want to confirm it myself,” CP Friday.

Gunmen were on Friday night reported having attacked security checkpoints and police stations in Rivers State, with no fewer than seven security operatives allegedly killed.

A source told Tribune Online that the hoodlums attacked a police station along the Rumuji axis of the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Rumuji police station was also burnt and two policemen feared killed, while some vehicles were burnt.

The source added that the gun all also attacked a police checkpoint at Ogbakiri junction in the same Emuoha LGA with two policemen feared killed and a vehicle burnt.

A checkpoint of the security outfit called C-4-i along the East-West Road was also attacked, with three operatives were feared killed there.

A spokesman for the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, also confirmed the attack to newsmen saying he would make details available after visiting the areas attacked.

Politics / ESN Commander Didn't Die In Gun Battle With Army- IPOB Clarifies by Noneroone(m): 4:47pm On Apr 27, 2021
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has clarified that the murdered Commander of its security outfit, Eastern Security Network, ESN was killed while he was sleeping in his father’s compound.

This was contrary to the previous report by the Nigerian army that the commander was killed during a gun battle.

Recall that Nigerian security forces carried out a joint operation in Imo State on Saturday, April 24 which led to the death of the ESN Commander, Ikoson and several others.

In a statement on Tuesday by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB alleged that the Nigerian security forces eliminated the commander over his decision to eradicate herdsmen from the Southeast.

“The bitter truth the Nigerian Government didn’t want people to hear, which IPOB disclosed at the said interview, was that Ikonso was murdered in his father’s house, not in any imaginary ESN camp or battlefield as the liars would hope to have us believe.

“The same Army, Police and DSS in Imo State that never for one day arrested or prosecuted any Fulani terror herdsman ravaging Imo State before the coming of Ikonso; the same Nigerian security agents that have always provided cover for terrorists and bandits, had the guts to ambush and kill the only man that drove Fulani terrorist herdsmen out of Imo State.

The group which accused the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma of plotting the death of the commander, had in a statement, vowed to launch a reprisal attack.

Politics / Another Security Formation Attacked In Rivers State, Soldiers Feared Killed by Noneroone(m): 12:12pm On Apr 26, 2021
A fresh attack has been carried out by gunmen on a security formation in Rivers State and five soldiers have been reported killed.

The gunmen on Monday morning attacked the camp at Abua, in Abua/Odual Local Government Area, killing the officers.

Although the six Division of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt is yet to release an official statement, two top security personnel in Rivers State confirmed the attack and killings to Channels Television.

Meanwhile, all heads of security agencies in Rivers State are currently at a meeting at the headquarters of the Rivers State Police Command, ostensibly to re-strategise ahead of the new scale of insecurity in the state.

This attack comes barely 24 hours after gunmen killed some police and customs officers at their patrol base in Isiokpo, the Headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government, which is along the Port Harcourt-Owerri road.

While the Police are yet to reveal the casualty figure for Saturday night’s attack in Isiokpo, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had said three of its personnel were killed by the gunmen.

The spokesperson for Zone C, Custom’s Federal Operations Unit, Mr Jerry Atta, told Channels Television on Sunday that the gunmen also went away with an AK-47 rifle and two Toyota Hilux vans belonging to the service.

He said a thorough investigation would be carried out to unravel the circumstances that led to the attack and to unravel the motive of the assailants.

Atta blamed the killing of the security operatives on armed smugglers whose businesses have been frustrated by the customs in recent times.

Politics / Re: The Army Lied About Its Casualties by Noneroone(m): 8:22pm On Apr 24, 2021
This is more credible. You mean a combined team of army, police, Dss and ITF fought for several hours and couldn't penetrate ESN camp and only went to attack the ESN unit commander. Despite off guard with few men, the well prepared FG team sustained more loss than ESN. That's not exactly a victory.

Politics / Wike: I Know They'll Come For Me After Office by Noneroone(m): 6:18pm On Apr 19, 2021
Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has said he is prepared to face political persecution after he hands over in 2023.
He said he is too sure political forces will come after him because of his strong views on issues.

Wike said he is more than prepared for such travails, stating he has moved out of the Government House two years before his tenure ends as part of his preparation.
He spoke at the weekend in Abuja during the dedication of Uche Nwosu’s son, grandson of former Imo Governor Senator Rocha Okorocha.

He described the current travails of Okorocha and his family as political persecution, counseling him to be strong because he will come out of it stronger.

Okorocha has been having a running battle with his successor, Governor Hope Uzodinma, resulting in the seizure of properties belonging to his family members as well as facing probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was recently detained by the anti-graft agency for 48 hours before he was granted bail.
Wike said: “Political prosecution will come especially after you have left office so what you’re going through today is not peculiar with you and your family. I know they will come after me but am prepared, I am ready for them.

“You should be strong and put your trust in God. I don’t stay close to people in power, particularly this kind of power, you see in life, I was looking around to see Governors, I know if Uche Nwosu is a sitting governor, you will see a lot of governors here.

“If Rochas was Governor you would have seen a lot of governors here, life is like that, for me now I don’t even live in the Government House. I have parked out, even though I still have two more years, I am tired so I had to leave.
“Particularly again when you have a system that is not doing well, the truth must be told. Many people don’t like the truth that is why they don’t like me.
“You said this is APC hall, I came here I didn’t see any APC member, today I’ve converted it to Christian hall. The way I do my thing, nobody can stop me or tell me who can be my friend. Nobody in this country can tell where to go, nobody.”

He added: “I am happy he is no longer in power that is why I am coming close to him now to learn the experience of those who are no longer in power, so that by the time it gets to me I will be used to it.
“Owelle is facing a lot of crisis, it is not easy to pass through these crises but it will come but it will be over.

“I want to encourage you and your son-in-law to be strong. If it doesn’t happen like this you won’t know that God loves you. You will go through these battles for you to know that there is God. We have passed through these battles and we are still waiting to pass through them again.

“Just like Rochas, God has given everyone his talent, when I watch your son-in-law from far, I say you have a good son-in-law that is not arrogant, not a son-in-law that does not understand what marriage is all about, I wouldn’t have come. I will be in Imo State soon and I will tell them my mind. You should thank God”.

On masturbation...
The lady felt disgusted at that habit of Mustapha. So, I can say, it wasn't really portrayed as a good thing in the movie.
It was subtly promoted. She only shouted in shock (without saying a word against it) being a Christian but Mustapha guy proudly justified the act by saying he did what most celibate guys do. That in my opinion promotes the act. Remember Muslims do not condemn it.
TV/Movies / Is The Movie "Mustapha" Ethno-religious Insensitive? by Noneroone(m): 10:05am On Jan 05, 2021
I came back last night and met a movie being shown on DSTV/GOTV channel ROK2 TV. The Title of the movie was Mustapha. what caught my attention was not just about the name "mustapha" in a typical Igbo semi-rural setting, but some other controversial issues that the movie progressively revealed.

It was supposed to be the story of a corp member from kano named Mustapha, who served in a semi-village Somewhere in the east. Along the line, his close fraternity with his students got him entangled in a rape and murder case. One of his students had been killed and after passing through a long time in the police custody and a shameful reprimand from the school/nysc authority, it was revealed he was innocent and that in fact, the father of the girl got her pregnant with the mother of the girl's boyfriend who doubled as the policewoman investigating the case, doing the covering up for her son. The movie may have passed off as the plight of a Hausa Muslim in a majority Christian area but what is clear is that
:

Mustapha was potrayed as a perfect Muslim gentleman. I have no problem with however way a specific religious or ethnic choose to portray themselves in movies, provided another group was not potrayed in a demeaning light as the movie did.

The villagers were potrayed as very hostile and in one occasion attempted to mob him. This was a false potryal of Igbos since it never happens in reality. The reverse may well be the case.

"Igbo kwenu" was potrayed as a rallying cry for ethnic violence. The youths of the community at one point pugnaciously charged at the praying Mustapha chanting "Igbo kwenu" This is another false portrayal of the Igbo people. Igbo kwenu has never been used for violence. In fact, any nollywood fan would observe that despite majority of the movie having an Igbo setting, the word "Igbo" is never mentioned, much more portraying other groups in bad light.

Masturbation was potrayed in a positive light Mustapha proudly admitted he does it in movie. Despite many people being guilty of this habit, it is never promoted as part of our values in the East. I understand that Islam has no problem with it but what are dedicated kannywood channels meant for? That is where it should be promoted.

The man who committed incest was a pastor This is an attack on Christianity and fatherhood in Igboland. Like I said, I have no problem with trying to reform the damaged image of Hausa/Islam but it can done it a way that doesn't insult the sensibility of others.

It is clear that the movie exploits some combustible ethno-regious elements but what is not clear is why it was allowed by Iroko without proper vetting. It was credited to Mary Njoku but a simple search showed it was produced and directed by one Ishaq sidi ishaq . Apparently, it was acquired by iroko. Half of a yellow sun had problem being approved by NFVCB despite the story being a historical fact. Many streaming sites pulled racially insensitive contents from their sites during the BLM protest and in my opinion the movie Mustapha is not off the hook.

Ujsizzle Briareos prof800 Lalasticlala seun Fp pls.

Am i the only one who feel this way about this movie?

Family / Re: Must I Fall In Love Before I Marry? by Noneroone(m): 9:59pm On Dec 29, 2020
whyteteeth:
I am 30 this year and it has always been my dream to marry @ 30 or before 30. But the truth is I haven't been able to fall in love with any woman for years now. I do have sex. And I have women in my life from time to time yet I am not in love with any of them.

Now the real issue is this, I stumbled on an article in this forum days back that says that an arranged marriage is the best meaning that without being in love with your spouse, you two can still have a successful marriage, and I have been giving it a thought.

With this premise, Should I just marry and then maybe love can grow over time or should I keep waiting till I fall in love before I marry? I seriously need your advice please..
You must first learn there is a difference between "love" and "falling in love"

Love is a commitment, a conscious effort and an act of will while falling in love is romantic attraction. Men are not meant to fall in love, they are meant to love. Men who fall in love never end well (Sampson, Solomon etc)

Women fall in love because they a weaker. That is why traditionally spouses are chosen for them by their families, as the feeling you get when you fall in love is the worst condition to make choices, talk more of one as serious as marriage. Any man who marries a woman because he is in love with her has made a huge gamble and vice versa. People marry rapists, criminals prostitutes because they fall in love, raise dysfunctional homes and live in regret. Marriage is a serious stuff. when you're ready, subject those your female friends to your mother's or sisters' scrutiny or ask your female relatives to look out for eligible girls for you with their "sober eyes". Most successful marriages started this way.

Abuja still remain one of the safest place in Nigeria

When I say Abuja I am not talking of all those places with low cost housing, i.e Nyanya, Karu, Orozo, jikwe, kurudu, mpape and all the likes, I mean places where you can even drive by 1am without stress. Prepare like 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 for rent

Just as someone said in page 1, your monthly salary should not be less than 400,000 to enjoy Abuja else na all those holdup axis you will find yourself
which place wouldn't you enjoy with a salary of 400000? Abuja is good but it's cost of living is quite beyond the reach of a legitimate earner. Many of those estates are unoccupied. legitimate earners like private employees and civil servants who can't access govt low hosing schemes cost are pushed to low hood areas or start small bussines to complement their earnings and live more decent life. So let's talk about cities that emerged organically.
