I think they're trying to avoid what happened during late Yar'Adua time. They would rather have a figure head (doppelgänger) and lead him along side Nigeria from somewhere than hand over power to the vice.

To be honest, I also had this same idea. Because I remember how the president was before he was ill. This person I'm seeing looks more younger and healthier than the person that travelled abroad for medicals.
Come to think of it, how come ever since that treatment, he has never been ill, not for once. Not even for a check up. Or has he been touched by an angel that he doesn't fall ill anymore.
For me, I have my doubts that the man we are calling president might be a fake.
