The Nigerian version of the British Music reality show, X Factor, which will air soon in the country will be sponsored by Nigeria's Telecom giant, Globacom.

It is expected that Glo's partnership with X-Factor will be announced this
Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the weekly music industry networking event, Industry Nite, with artistes Burna Boy, Niyola, Seyi Shay, Phyno, Pucado and UK-based Nigerian singer, L Marshal on the bill.

X Factor is a music competition created by popular producer, Simon Cowell.

News making round is that Wizkid will soon return to former record label, EME Music, if everything goes according to plan.

Report says that Wizkid and EME bosses have been going back and forth for the last couple of weeks through their lawyers trying to agree on new terms of them working together again.

They are working on a new contract that will favour Wizkid. According to reports, EME will not take a dime from Wizkid's international deals when he returns to EME.

Wizkid and EME had issues with sharing of monies from shows and investment in the past which resulted in Wizkid leaving the Label to start his own label called 'Star Boy Entertainment'.

The Islamic sect known as Boko Haram, who usually carries its violent attacks in some northern state have invaded Lagos state.

This Day is reporting that in an operation carried out by men and officers of the Operation Mesa (OP Mesa), a joint security outfit comprising members of the armed forces and those of the State Security Service (SSS),  they raided Ijora 7-UP area of the state and arrested some suspected Boko Haram members and devices suspected to be explosives were also recovered during the raid.

The suspects were said to have concealed some devices suspected to be explosives in boxes, which were stacked in the ceiling of a house they were occupying. Also recovered alongside the suspected explosives were two AK47 rifles.

It was also reported that the group is planning attacks on the Lagos offices of the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Haifa-based ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. and the Jewish Cultural Centre.

Nigerian hip hop artiste, Jesse Jagz, who was formally signed to Chocolate City Record Label, today released a statement that he is leaving label.

In the statement, the rapper says that he's leaving for good and still maintains good relationship with the label and former label mates.

To whom it may concern:

I, Jesse Garba Abaga (also known as
"Jesse Jagz" an artist formerly signed
to Chocolate City Music label hereby
wishes to notify my fans and the
general public about my voluntary exit
from the label.

After my initial two year contractual

and as such have proceeded to continue

Survivors of Monday’s suicide bomb attacks at a luxury bus station in Kano have been recounting their tales of woes, especially how they escaped death in the horrible incident in which dozens of innocent passengers died. For Mr. Obinna Omekwe, a middle-aged trader from Abia State, that Monday was one in which he saw death face-to-face. But he remains grateful to God that his life was saved.

The man who sustained multiple injuries and burns, told Daily Sun on his hospital bed that he was barely 10 metres to the point of the blast when the explosion took place, adding that his escape was a miracle. Mr. Obinna recalled that he was actually travelling to Aba to attend an occasion when he found himself at the scene of the tragedy. According to him: “I had arrived at the park early enough, loaded my wares and decided to rest somewhere within the park as there was still time.

“We were at the park just as the loaders and the conductors were checking the passengers and the extra-passengers (attachments). At that time, I was looking at the brand new bus of the company, (Gobison Motor) and was appreciating the newness and the beauty of the vehicle. “Barely two seconds after, there was a huge blast. Its noise was so resounding that it threw everybody into confusion. All I could remember was that I was running towards a direction and that I saw people running too.

“Just when I got to the main gate, the second blast exploded. The two blasts happened barely two minutes in between. When I got to this stage, I realized that I was injured and I could not say exactly the extent of the injuries. “There were several persons that were falling and running. It was chaotic. People were running. It was like hell. There were those whose bodies were shattered. They were in blood and it was awful, but at that time, I could not stop to note the details.

My legs and back were stuck, my heart was panting. I could feel the pains then but I just ran and ran. “I think in all, the people that would have died in the bomb attacks were more than 60 persons, based on what I saw. Because I was about 10 metres near the bus, and you can see my body, you see how it is. What about those who are already in the bus?” Chukwudi Samuel Nwodo is another survivor.

But for him, his survival is a story for another day, adding that his biggest problem is how to tell his sister that her husband had died in the attack.

Speaking to Daily Sun with swollen eyes, he recalled how his in-law, a very popular driver and manager was killed by the suicide, saying he died in deep pains His words: “I am an in-law to the famous Lawrence Onwayi, alias Osisi Kan Ngwu, the famous driver and ex –manager who died last night (Monday night) at the Armed Forces Hospital.

“He was the husband of my sister, my cousin, whose name is Patience. My deceased in-law was from Otuocha in Anambra State and had been in the motor park in the last 15 years. “Our last moment was rather normal. We were at the centre of the park and we were sitting in the middle of the park with the chairman of the task force.

“The second Gobison bus that was going to Lagos came and was on the final check up to take off. During the process, the Golf car drove in, and soon after it screeched to a halt, we heard the blast. “Onwayi was in the front of the other Gobison bus that was to go to Port Harcourt. He was in front of the vehicle, thinking that the car that arrived were passengers “The blast tore through the middle of his back. It was rather horrific as it tore his back almost into two. “We rushed him to the hospital.

The first clinic we rushed him to was Modulla Clinic on Emir Road, but they could not handle the challenge. That night we moved him to Lafia Surgery, but they said that they could not handle it and they advised us to take him to the Armed Forces Hospital. “We went to the Armed Forces Hospital. Here, they tried their best, but they reported back to us that they could not go further, asking us to take him to Daula Hospital. “At that point, they rushed him to Daula Hospital. They asked me to go home and wait. It was at this point that I came home. All night, it was not possible for me to sleep.

“On getting to the hospital this (Tuesday) morning, I met a huge shock. It was unbelievable. On arrival at the hospital, they presented me with the papers with which they prepared his corpse and told me that he had died last night. That was the end. “For me, I cannot still believe it . It is like a nightmare. I was with him at the hospital, I was with him all through yesterday and we were one happy family.

Now, he is no more. He is gone. “My biggest problem is that I don’t know what to tell his wife. I don’t know what to tell my sister. Right now, she didn’t know that her husband had died, she is waiting for the good news that he’s alive. But he’s dead.”

A gang of eight men allegedly raped a 39-year-old tourist and beat her husband with sticks while they were holidaying in India.

The couple had been cycling from Orchha when they were brutally attacked. The gang took a laptop, 10,000 rupees (£120) and a mobile phone belonging to the couple.

The Swiss woman was taken to hospital, where medical examinations proved she had been raped

Police said that the couple had been brutally attacked in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on Friday night and they are still searching for the rapists.

The violent attack comes after one 23-year-old was raped and tortured in December, and a 29-year-old who was grabbed from a bus in and gang raped in Amritsar by six men in January.

One woman is raped every 20 minutes in India, according to the National Crime Records Bureau.

There are strong indications that the return of Osaze Odemwingie to the Super Eagles may not happen so soon.

Chief Coach of the Nigerian team, Stephen Keshi, said that the West Brom striker must change his attitude before he could earn a call up to the senior national team.

Keshi said that because he was not invited for the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, the former Lille of France star has refused to congratulate him, the coaches, the players and the nation for winning the African tournament in February.


“There is no doubt that Osaze is a good player, but he hasn’t shown the right attitude that he is ready to play for the country again. Nigerians won’t believe that Osaze has not sent a word or text messages of congratulations to us after the Nations Cup. This shows the kind of a person he is,” Keshi said.

The former coach of Mali noted that the gates of the Eagles are still open for the likes of Victor Anichebe, Shola Ameobi, including Osaze and other Nigerian players wherever they are, stressing that these players
only need to show enough patriotism and must be disciplined on and off the field of play.

“The door of the team is open to all Nigerian players who are doing well at their respective clubs both at home and abroad. But we will not sacrifice discipline or good attitude for any erring player,” he said.

Angry commercial motorcyclists, popularly called, Okada riders, went on rampage yesterday evening in Akowonjo area of Alimosho Local Government when an okada rider was crushed to death by a fast moving truck at Akowonjo roundabout when he was trying to escape arrest from the Policemen at the roundabout who wanted to arrest him for no reason.

The Muritala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos was attacked by armed robbers yesterday leaving two policemen dead during a gun duel which lasted for about 30 minutes

The armed robbers numbering over 10 beat the airport security network to unleash terror on the entire airport.

Domestic violence against women, especially in Africa, has remained a thorny issue. Across the globe, governments, voluntary organisations and philanthropists have been collaborating actively through a variety of programmes to combat it.

As part of their own contribution and as a means of checking the trend, four Nigerian actresses teamed up to create more awareness about the situation in a short film entitled, New Horizon. The actresses, Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, Uche Jombo and Funke Akindele said they felt an urgent need to challenge the social prejudices and beam the spotlight on the subject.
At a press conference to announce the wrap up of the movie at the Tinapa Lakeside Hotel in Calabar, Cross River State,

Henshaw, who spoke on behalf of the other actresses, said they had to highlight the issue in order to protect African women and Nigerian women in particular, not just against the menace, but also from the attendant mockery, fear and isolation. Henshaw said they were reacting to a recent report that between half and two thirds of Nigerian women are at risk of domestic violence in their homes, adding that, although men can also be affected by domestic violence, it is the women who suffer extensively. Domestic violence, she said, is present everywhere in the world, but Africa's discriminatory laws and the prevalent culture of silence and stigma for the victims continue to turn down the volume on the problem.

The movie is slated for premiere on Ebony Life Television.

The paralympics gold medalist who murdered girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's day, and while he was let go on a $112,000 bail - he's now covering Times Magazine March issue.

The paralympian was photographed by Pieter Hugo for a full length picture that shows off his prosthetic legs and toned body with the title: 'MAN SUPERMAN GUNMAN.'

The House of Representatives has approved the recommendations that any person convicted of rape is liable to life imprisonment. This approval was made on Tuesday 5th March 2012 as part of the recommendations of the House of Representatives' report on a bill for an Act on Violence Against Persons.

The bill also approved 25 years imprisonment for any person who attempts to use chemical, biological or any harmful liquid on another person and that any person convicted of performing female circumcision and general mutilation or engaging someone to carry it out risks four years in jail or a fine not more than N200,000 or both.

Aiding female circumcision according to the bill also attracts N100,000 or two years in jail or both.

Chris Brown was a headliner at a concert in Ghana yesterday night.
The concert took place at Accra Sports Stadium, it featured performances from acts like R2bees and a huge surprise performance from Wizkid.

Chris Brown was reportedly paid a million dollars for his performance, same amount he was paid last December for his show in Lagos.
