#Update On Sarah


Her parents have recently reduced the way they beat her.

However, someone tried to do a cover up of the story by telling the media, Linda Ikeji's Blog to be precise, that Sarah is mentally challenged and that the parents of the child has been arrested. All this is a lie. Linda Ikeji later updated this on her blog informing people that that particular tip off was a lie.


Also, the parents were interviewed by social welfare. Although they beat her from time to time, it is not as before. They are now careful with the way they treat the child. The girl is still skinny though. We are watching to make sure this improvement continues

Some of the corp members went to report the case to the Local Government and were treated shabbily.

Meanwhile, somebody went to the child's parents to tell them we posted about the child on Nairaland and Sarah's dad came to threaten the corpers last night, saying he was going to "burn down the corpers". They are also trying to cover up that they beat the child, yesterday they took her to the hospital to treat her wounds.

This incident happened at NYSC NCCF corper's lodge. Obiagu. Close to The Palace.


Tell your igwe, when you come feel free and ask of the guy who posted this on nairaland. My name is Nonso. They would tell you who I am. I would come and meet you.

already did that, the police people came once, said they would return and never showed up again.

NONSO: Thank you for sharing and bringing it to light. Having said that, you are a Corper and educated, what you can do to actually make that change in this girls life is to report it to so many human rights group, women group, aid group etc that abound in Nigeria. Research it online or ask other corpers or the NYSC secretariat.

We have done that already.

The police came around even and promised to be doing routine checks, but they never showed up again after that first day they came

We have reported to the Local Police and they came around the house, but we are afraid they too share the belief of the parents and might not do anything about it

Nnewi, Anambra State

I’m a corp. member serving In Nnewi, Anambra. This child (see attached picture) is my neighbor’s kid and she is just 3 years old. Even at this age she has already passed through a lot; her parent thinks she is a witch and the bruises on her face were given to her by her own parents. She gets beaten almost every day and she is malnourished and skinny from starvation. It’s really heartbreaking

This girl, at this age, lives in so much fear of her parents that one day we found her hiding behind the toilet door of the corper’s lodge.

We have talked to her parents, but they still keep beating her up. We are calling on the relevant authorities to come to this girl’s rescue. It is obvious they are trying to gradually kill her. MOD kindly move this to the front page. They live at Nnewi, Anambra. Amichi. NCCF NYSC family house.
