I know i’ll regret not buying more soon. I don't feel comfortable buying a stock or sector if the news is not negative. All this negative gossip is gingering my swagger. I am looking at Q1 result and just sipping my palm wine |

Stockhunter: So wema bank eps in Q1 2026 is more than their entire 2025 eps. Interesting.
Q1 2026 eps is 7.90 while entire 2025 eps is 7.08. this was achieved not recovering from loss o. i think the market is underating this bank. If the earnings hold for the rest of the quarter or even do 5 naira for the remaining 3 quarters, thats over 20 naira eps. Matching that of the fugaz like zenith and stanbic.. if we do PE of 3.5x thats above 100 naira... In less than 2 years wema go touch 100.. i need to beam my touchlight on this stock though not a fan of banks
Is there any blind spot i am missing. My spreadsheet flagged it as well. Projected ROE is over 147%. I haven't had time to go through the books but the unusually high ROE made me think there is something wrong with the numbers |

mikeapollo: I have realized that most Nigerians who become privileged or blessed don't know how to remain humble, modest, keep low profile and be less boastful. They think they made it because they are smarter than others, and those who are underprivileged or still struggling are less intelligent, less brilliant or not smart enough. That is why whenever they have some anniversary or occasion to celebrate, they would invite musicians to sing their praises and use the opportunity to brag that they are better, superior to some unknown or imaginary rivals or enemies etc. Just to prove that they are ''above them'' Its not that deep |

But I guess that's yours. I don't give people money. I don't answer people who ask me for cash gifts. I help by investing in a business. Give a loan. Teach or explain things as best I can if I am knowledgeable about the issue. I also don't prompt on any of these things. You have to come meet me with a viable business you want me to invest in etc. Life is not a bed of roses. You hear me praise SMN for changing my life. You see this valuation matter, I learnt a lot from professionals on that forum. I read a lot of books, constantly called and argued with people like Horlads, KOD, madam Pegi, and so many others. A lot of these people have migrated from being online acquaintances to friends. Heck they have graduated from friends into brothers. Our closeness stems from me constantly bugging them on phone with what I am analyzing. Things I didn't understand and my general thoughts. They end up as moving target or dumped in prison cell without trials .That is if you don't get the beating of yourife first from uniform people Is it not better than for "Nigeria to happen to you". See let me not give my farming experience here. One of my workers who was from the village, who's family is all into agriculture is constantly begging me now on whatsapp. You have community leader, counselor, you have local govt chairman, you have State governor. Streetinvestor2: LWKD. How can I insult my oga. I don't pretend. I say as e dey my mind I don't believe that many Nigerians are poor because they actually made wrong choices. I believe the macro economy is killing many business mostly the SMEs in nigeria And many fall into this category. This is why the poverty level keeps going up and not because of bad choices If people truly believe this then why don't they protest these policies? See, I can tell you first hand that farmers are suffering or at least suffered from this herder crisis. I witnessed it first hand in Nassarawa. Rather than moving to the state governors office and sitting there until something is done, they will sit in their huts and keep getting killed. The docility in Nigeria is unbelievably annoying. Its almost like the politicians have used juju to tie the people |

crownprince2017: This is a fact, I'm a business guy too n I understand this reality as well but I was lucky to act fast in 2023 because I saw this coming, I discussed it with my immediate friends why I felt money should be move into stock market some followed the advice while some didn't. I can tell u that the once tht did not are facing a lot right now..its very hard for business out there.
Many were thinking if I moved most of the money to the stock what will I be doing, people will think something is wrong, so emotional n I reason with them, we can't all believe in the same thing because even the stock could go wrong..
I can tell you, they realized they made huge mistake then n they are really paying for it darely. After the occupy ojota protest I saw the collapse of the economy/currency coming. I took two steps, I moved my investment focus entirely out of the Naira and I setup a farm with the belief that food prices will drive inflation (and I was right). What I didn't see coming was that the violence which typically follows economic collapse would affect farmers as well. This is me identifying what I over looked and moving on from it. Every human being is an architect of his own destiny and fortune. If you believe the government is bad come out on the street and protest whenever you see activists calling for protest. Join activist movements, defend your vote, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! You cant sit down in poverty and be screaming that the government is bad and you are waiting for Jesus to come and save you. Look at what happens in other countries when their government messes up? small hardship and the streets are full! People need to realize that they are the architect of their own fortune. I don't owe anybody poo and nobody owes me poo either. |

The are putting all effort to make it and not be poor. Then the government is running the economy via different policies which ends destroying the business and making them poor. And you tell me they made wrong choices. That is why many now resort to betting and some yahoo. Some of my friends have gone poor because of devaluation of naira to sharp curve within short intervals. And it cost them thr business capital and is not like big businesses that can just come to raise new capital, restructure thr loans or the loans written off.If you are not doing practical business I don't expect u to under what businesses on the street is facing All this one na emotional blackmail. |

Streetinvestor2: Why do you keep sounding this way. When you whr canvassing for people to be part of your moringa farm.Which obviously later failed. Was it because of the wrong choice you made then because you whr too sure of it.Or nigeria happened to that choice or business idea.If anyone contributed his fund into it would it have been a wrong choice he made. The government is destroying small and medium businesses with bad policies and failing economy and you are talking about wrong choices. I have closed 3 businesses since this government came to power because of high cost of power to run and sustain the businesses and you dey tel.me stories. One of the business was closed because of security reason because I can no longer be travelling that way by road quarterly to go attend to affairs of the business so after alot of mismanagement because I no longer come around.,t closed shop Yes it was a wrong choice by me. People invested via debt and they got every penny back plus interest that was agreed. I ate the loss alone. I own my mess ups. I learn from them and I keep it pushing. I am not going to sit down start whining and blaming the government. Even if the government is messing up it is up to those suffering to do something about it. I don't think this government is perfect, far from it, but so far they have done things no other government has been able to do for decades. Does that mean they deserve a second term That is for each citizen to decide. No be me go tell you how your shoe dey pain you |

I know terrible things are happening, but I would never use poor, unlucky people to make a point regarding my own success; I feel the pain of many too much, even though I am mostly above it, by the grace of God.
I know how many adults’ school fees I’ve paid, money for fuel I’ve sent to hardworking, hustling people so they could run their generator and fridges and so forth to say something like ‘I don’t know why etc are cursing leaders because NGX gave me dividend’. HesInMe: Hear, hear.
This comment is more balanced na. Your previous one seemed to excuse our leaders (and I mean all of them, not just the current admin) for the perilous state of the real economy -- because the stock market is doing fantastically well. (Although, credit to you, you weren't arguing like others have here that massive, blatant corruption is somehow good for us.)
You do control your portfolio, but we who can speak grammar and move markets also collectively help shape the conversation we have as a nation going into an election season. Broadening the prosperity -- translating the pain of structural reform to sustained productivity gains -- must be the focus now, whatever your politics. Beginning with improving basics like electricity, security, and transportation logistics. which affect both the investor class and the poor. The stock market is forward looking. This means that the stock market is expecting the economy to do very well in the future and I AGREE with the market. |

deathwing: You yourself wrote "This reality led me to a deeper question: Why do so many citizens of this same country, one that is rewarding many ordinary citizens handsomely, spend so much time cursing it and its leaders?"
You drew a line from your $9500 dividend to cast aspersion on people who are cursing the country and leaders (and rightly so, since we are amongst the poorest nations on earth). I endeavoured to let you know that it's not all about money..and that your metric for success is dim. People just above minimum wage in some countries live better than most of us in Nigeria. The woman you pitied because she got $335 can get a helicopter to a fully funded hospital if she collapses. She can get social security, loans to pretty much buy anything she wants, insurance to take care of her most expensive health bills, and the assurance that the police and three helicopters will be at her location if she calls 911 even inside a forest.
I have no idea why you are calling me broke and bitter even though you don't know me, and I made no reference to your own status. I don't care about the dividends you received. Your story does not move me because that's not why I am here. I am simply letting you know that your reality is but a slim vista and that you can be more empathetic. This Una conversation dey do me to enter. Everybody cannot be rich but plenty poor people are poor because of their bad choices. One of those choices is not taking responsibility for their destiny |

Agbalowomeri: Yes, because markets are efficient and have their reasons for pricing one stock over another. It is not only assets that determine stock prices
No be to carry toxic asset full body, how much are you squeezing out for shareholders from the earnings? ACCESS is probably the most inefficient bank in Nigeria. If the story changes tomorrow, maybe the market will respond. Until then, it is what it is. Exactly. Buying Access bank today is a bet that management can deliver on their plan |
