Business › Re: Naira Down To N1,510/$ In Parallel Market by NothingDoMe: 11:25am On Mar 04, 2025
DeLaRue:
I personally wouldn't buy dollars to keep. That's not the best option this year.

Nigeria's economic fundamentals are a lot stronger today than they were last year when the naira was all over the place.

Naira is standing on a stronger footing now. Barring any calamitous economic or political event, naira will remain stable for most of this year.

Any fall in Naira this year is likely to be moderate. There is far greater chance of naira gaining to around N1450 later this year, than it falling to N1650/N1700 for example.

You're better off putting your money in Nigerian Stocks than buying dollars with the hope of a big drop in naira value.
Not when there is a corresponding drop in FX reserves of about $2.2 billion. That already tells a lot about your economy.

The CBN was forced to defend the Naira despite the FX influx from "Detty December" because of the ripple effect of Trump's victory.

Trump is also about to ramp up shale oil production to crash crude oil prices again. This will lead to greater devaluation of the Naira or massive depletion of FX reserves to sustain the Naira.

So you don't only look at your local indices. The global economy sadly has more power to negatively affect your local indices overnight.

Oh, I wouldn't advise you to trade in stocks if you don't have the heart to bear the losses from such a high-risk investment. Stick to money market instruments instead. If you invest like ₦300 million, you'll get around a 21% return; like ₦5 million every month.

Nonsense report!!!

Speculators, cut your losses and sell your dollars now smiley
They already did when the price started dropping to 1600. Some started buying back already.

Sell when it's high, buy back when it's low.

abc115:
A petrol giant in Norway has announced a ban on fuel sales to all US forces following Donald Trump's treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, it has been reported.

Norwegian firm Haltbakk Bunkers announced it will stop providing fuel to all American forces in Norway as it declared "No fuel to Americans!". The firm posted on social media to declare its support for Zelensky as it dealt a hammer blow to US President Trump following the heated spat televised from the Oval Office

It said: "We have today been witnesses to the biggest s***how ever presented "live on tv" by the current American president and his vice president. Huge credit to the president of Ukraine restraining himself and for keeping calm even though USA put on a backstabbing tv show. It made us sick. Short and sweet. As a result, we have decided to immediate STOP as fuel provider to American forces in Norway and their ships calling Norwegian ports.

Not very smart and unnecessarily emotional for a corporate organisation. Companies shouldn't take political sides.

This face two of the war will be tough and rough on both sides because now Saudi Arabia are now beginning to feel ashamed of themselves both Qatar and Egypt that's why Egypt have started telling their army to sit tight and now USA are trying to pull out NATO and UN, which will give other countries like turkey to Chip in, and remember there master planner the great emperor Putin is still watching, Iran has stepped up there massive and upgrade weapon production, every body has their allies, 🤣🤣🤣😁😂
That's what was said when Israel started gaza offensive. Same thing was said when Israel started the Lebanon offensive. Same thing was said when Israel started the offense on Iran.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Senator Lindsey Graham Calls For Zelensky To Resign After Peace Talk Clash by NothingDoMe: 4:47pm On Mar 01, 2025
othermen:
Trump’s position is that the continued conflict is unsustainable. He talks about the lives that are lost and all the irreparable damages. Trump’s position is that compromise is a necessity.

Zelenskyy wants outright victory. That Putin gets the Gaddafi treatment. And Russia becomes subordinated to Europe, with their weapons and army all disbanded as was done with Germany after WW II. This is the only way Ukraine sovereignty is guaranteed.

Trump don’t see how this is possible without a full blown war in Europe, and perhaps, in the world. Trump thinks a better route is diplomacy. Zelenskyy sees Trump as a direct obstacle to this goal.

Zelenskyy’s rhetoric is not dumb. His body language, his positions may be intended at actively driving a wedge between himself and the US.
It is some strategic maneuvering. It’s calculated.

Zelenskyy could sever ties with the US, in the hope that this pushes Europe into assuming greater responsibility for the war effort.

European leaders already signaled they also desire the end of Putin. But rhetorics and actions are different things.

And Zelenskyy might be overplaying his hand in appealing to Europe’s fraught ego.

The EU is an organization that is willing to use Ukraine as a pawn in their effort to increase members commitment and become an actual dominant power. In reframing the US as an unreliable ally, alliances are reshaped that benefits the EU tangibly.

But the EU might be overplaying its hand.

In all, there are pawns, knights, rooks, bishops, kings and queens. As you read, people are dying in the war.
Your head is clear and analysis is top notch. People like you should grace the FP with your comments more often.

Business › Nigerian FX Reserves Dropped To $38.5 Billion At The End Of February 2025. by NothingDoMe(op): 7:48pm On Feb 28, 2025
Nigeria's foreign exchange reserves decreased to $38.5 billion by the end of February 2025.

The foreign exchange reserves have been steadily declining since January 2025, which has also seen a coincidental 14% increase in the Naira's value.

Also the the ones jubilating that BRICS is going to deal with the USD. How will BRICS now deal with the USD when Putin is friends with Trump?

So many tears but we warned you.
Politics › Re: My Coastal Highway Dreams Crushed by NothingDoMe: 2:07pm On Feb 28, 2025
DeLaRue:
From Ondo all the way through the other parts of the Niger Delta, the areas covered by near-impenetrable mangroves are enormous.

Miles after miles of mangroves. Very difficult, expensive, and time consuming to build over.

Building motorways and bridges over them will probably triple if not quadruple the total cost of the road, and by Nigerian standards, it will probably take 25 years or more to complete.

See how long it is taking Julius Berger to construct the ongoing Opebi bridge in Lagos - on dry land o. Bridges are not easy.

That means the coastal road will probably never be completed because subsequent administrations will not keep pouring money into it for 25years.

The current path of the road is ok. Most of the South South and Niger delta states and the South West will be linked by a single road.
So why even start this fraudulent project in the first place if not to loot money?
