May Day Celebration: Gov Umo Eno Declares Work Free, Farming Days in A'Ibom

... Approves Another N2billion for Gratuities

As part of efforts to actualize the food security and sufficiency aspirations of the ARISE Agenda, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has declared every first and third Friday of the month as work free days to enable workers effectively engage in farming activities.

Governor Eno made the declaration at the 2024 May Day celebration held at the Uyo Township Stadium, Uyo, with the theme, "People first."

He noted that since the assumption of office, the government has made efforts to prioritize the welfare of workers, adding that his administration will continue to take care of workers' welfare.

Governor Eno who is reputed for his compassionate disposition, said that N16.1 billion has so far been released for the payment of arrears of gratuity and also ordered immediate release of two billion to further defray the backlog of gratuity to retired workers in the State, bringing the total amount paid so far, by his administration to 18.1 billion Naira.

He appreciated the organised labour for the good working relationship saying, "in the course of our successful campaign, I made a pledge to continue to strengthen the cords of our relationship and I make bold to say that almost one year after, I have kept our promise. We've even exceeded your expectations.

"Let me also use this opportunity to thank the organized labour for your massive support during the March 18th elections, and that support made me stand here today as elected Governor of this State. We will continue to do our best to ensure that workers' welfare receives priority attention.

"Today, I believe we have fulfilled some of those promises. As of today, we've disbursed over 16.1 billion Naira gratuities to our workers. Today, I am approving another 2 billion Naira for payment of gratuities across board for the month of April. We will continue to monitor this payment, we will continue to audit this payment, and we will continue to ensure that this payment gets to the right people. please keep us informed when you notice that things are not going in the right direction.

"We have approved and granted refund of outstanding N7.5% contributory pension scheme, we have paid 3 months promotions, we have released 2023 promotions, we granted approval for the conduct of service examination, we have invested in affordable housing unit for our workers in Ibiono Ibom Local Government.

"I have authorized and work is ongoing at the 3rd Ring Road so that we can link our workers there to Uyo. We have approved your land allocations, and so you can begin your building at any time. We recently swore in Permanent Secretaries, and we would appoint more as some are soon to retire. "Of course, the 13 months' salary is ongoing. We have approved the recruitment of health workers in the State for the Primary health centres," he added.

On the issue of minimum wage for workers; he said, "We will wait on the federal government to provide more details and we will implement the new minimum wage for our workers.

"For the Bulk Purchase Agency, it is a short-term intervention. For a more sustainable solution, we must go back to the farm, working with the Ministry of Agriculture. I am therefore declaring the first and last Friday of every month Farm days in the State. It won't be a day for funerals. We will monitor to ensure everyone goes to the farm," he said.

In response to an earlier request by the labour leaders, the governor presented two vehicles to the chairmen of NLC and TUC.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Sunny James appreciated Governor Umo Eno for fulfilling his campaign promises to Akwa Ibom workers, stressing that organized labour is never quick at praising Governors but said that given the strides of Governor Eno in less than one year in office, he deserves a louder ovation.

He specifically appreciated the Governor for prompt payment of gratuities to retirees of the State, local government and primary school teachers; approvals for the refund of 7.5% contributory pension from workers and many other gestures which according to him are answers to prayers of Akwa Ibom workers.

Similarly, his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Comrade Dominic Abang, specially appreciated the governor for always putting the people of the State first in line with the theme of the celebration.

In their separate solidarity messages, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong, State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Ekaette Obot represented by Hon Justice Aniekan Akpan, Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, Commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planing, Aniefiok Nkom, and the State controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, congratulated the workers on their successful 2024 celebration and described the workers as pilars of social growth.

They commended Governor Umo Eno for prioritising the welfare of Akwa Ibom workers as well as retired ones through the 13th month salary, palliatives, and regular release of funds for payment of arrears of gratuity; and pledged to always support the governor in his efforts to do more for Akwa Ibom workers through the ARISE Agenda.

Gov. Umo Eno Urges Stakeholders to Protect Public Facilities against Vandalism

... Reiterates Passion For Rural Development

The Evangelist news Online edition Sunday April 21, 2024. Admin.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has urged stakeholders across the State to protect public facilities in their domains against vandalism, as government will not continue to invest resources on such facilities.

The Governor stated this while addressing worshipers at the April edition of Government House monthly prayer service held at the Latter House Chapel, Governor's Lodge, Uyo.

He noted that government is making efforts to touch all communities in the State, adding that going to replace vandalized facilities in some communities while others were yet to have one, would no longer be tolerated.

Making specific reference to electricity transformers, he said "there is so much request for transformers and I want to appeal that there are communities that transformers were already given. I know the last administration bought well over two hundred transformers, they distributed these transformers, and fixed them but people have vandalized some.

"People live in these communities, so when government brings transformer to your community and you cannot watch it or set up a system to protect it, and they are vandalized and you come again, understand that we have many communities in this state, and would not replace newly-installed transformers if the people there don't know the value of transformers.

"You need to form a neighborhood watch or vigilante to protect those transformers and other government assets around you. These facilities belong to all of us, so be interested in them," he said.

The Governor noted that his first anniversary was drawing closer and the list of projects that will be commissioned will soon be made public, and appealed to the stakeholders to endeavour to take part in the anniversary activities.

He decried the attempt by some people to hijack and thwart government's effort at reaching out to the elderly citizens through the ARISE Elders Initiative, saying that it was not meant for only PDP members but all Akwa Ibomites and not for an individual stakeholder to select all beneficiaries.

According to him, "every month, each local government gives us at least fifteen elderly people so that we can help them with their medications. A lot of these people die because medical attention don't get to them. We give them fifty thousand naira each a month. It is our ARISE initiative for the elderly, but we have recieved complaints that people have highjacked the process.

"Please, allow the process to run. One person cannot bring fifteen people. What is wrong with a local government chairman going to the paramount ruler, sit with him and make the selection? It is not supposed to be a PDP thing. government programmes are not meant for PDP members alone, It is meant for everybody. It should benefit everyone.

"So please, select old men and women across the wards, let them come and get the money. Recreational activities are also organised during the meeting so that they can go home with joy in their hearts. So please, I ask that the coordinator should bring people together and not just deal with only one family. We mean well for our people and they should benefit from these programmes.

"A lot of people are asking us, what is your legacy project? For me, our legacy project is rural development. Everybody has his own style. The current reality demands that we do soft infrastructure, I call them soft infrastructures because you can do those hard ones and before people will use them, they are dead.

"That is not to say that we won't do what we wanted to do. As we step into the second year, we are stepping up on what we wanted to do in line with our ARISE Agenda," he added.

The State Chief Executive also advised the citizenry to take their security seriously, adding that recent happenings have shown that from everyone kidnapped in the State, 20 percent is by chance and 80 percent is information from people around the victim.

He therefore urged everyone to minimize the publication of personal information on the social media as such constitutes security risk.

Governor Eno appreciated the Guest Minister, Rev. Emmanuel Iniama, the Senior Pastor of Precious Faith Int'l Church for his message, and all the worshipers for making out time to be part of the service.

Earlier in his message on the theme, "Deliverance from Wicked and Unreasonable Men," with text taken from 2 Thessalonians 3:2, Rev. Iniama said such men are everywhere and only through prayers, discernment, fasting and training can one be delivered from them.

The Wonders of Nigeria Expo, organised by Ikechi Uko, a tourism promoter, is designed to deliberately highlight and promote Nigeria’s historical sites.
The event featured a photo exhibition of over 1,000 tourist sites cutting across the 36 states of the nation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“As we celebrate the 10th edition of this expo, let us not only marvel at the wonders before us but also reflect on the importance of preserving and protecting them for future generations. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that these treasures remain intact for years to come so that others may experience the same sense of awe and wonder that we feel today.

In order to achieve this, we must carry along our people. Community engagement is vital to the preservation of our assets and history. We must engage our local communities and train them on basic tourism skills, entrepreneurship, hospitality, cleanliness as well as love and respect for cultural differences.

“We need to love this country. As a government, we will ensure we set up standards, resuscitate the presidential tourism council and encourage the doctrine of tourism.”

She said the needed infrastructures should also be provided at all tourism and heritage sites to make marketing of such sites easier.

Founder of Nigeria Tourism Lovers, Ibrahim Makanjuola, said accessing some of the nation’s tourism sites was problematic due to the poor road network.
Mr Makanjuola advised the federal government to work on putting in place good roads.

Ekiti, Abia, Enugu, Edo and Cross River states won the most active tourism state of the year 2023.
Director-General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, Nura Kangiwa, won the ‘2023 Tourism Chief Executive Officer’ award. ‎

Politics / Gov Eno Wins Social Media Governor Of The Year Award by Novela001(m): 5:48pm On Apr 17
GOV ENO WINS SOCIAL MEDIA GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has been announced the “Social Media Governor of the year by the Nigeria Institute of Social Media Analysts (NISMA).

The award according to the Institute, is in recognition of effective deployment of ‘good’ e-governance engagement strategy by the Umo Eno led administration as a working model.

This and many more has earned his recommendation for the award by the Governing Council of NISMA.

NISMA is also pleased with Governor Eno for the manner he is merticulously pursuing the implementation of his ARISE AGENDA for the overall benefits of the citizenry.

A statement endorsed by the Chief Registrar of NISMA, Dr Maryam Hamza onbehalf of the Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute, reveals that the decision to select Governor Eno amongst other State Governors for the award was arrived at after a thorough selection process by the Research & Social Media Monitoring Unit of NISMA.

The Chief Registrar in the release, listed the Governor's agricultural revolution policies which is a panacea for food sufficiency and food security in the State; the ARISE Shelter homes for widows and their children, tourism development, ecological projects, intervention in the education sector, as seen in the model primary schools across the State, as well as intervention in healthcare and provision of basic social amenities across the State.

The statement reads;

RECOMMENDING & AWARDING HIS EXECELLECNY, GOVERNOR UMO ENO'S GOOD E-GOVERNANCE ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY AS WORKING MODEL IN LEADERSHIP BY THE NIGERIA INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL MEDIA ANALYSTS

“I am writing on behalf of the Governing Council Member of Nigeria Institute of Social Media Analysts (NISMA), to commend you on the effective e- governance engagement strategy used in engaging the people of Akwa Ibom State and the Nation as a whole. It is quite impressive and a job well done by you sir".

About NISMA:
“The Nigeria Institute of Social Media Analysts (NISMA) was established in the year 2018 and incorporated in 2022 in accordance with the CAMA Act (amended) and other extant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. NISMA was conceived as a high-level institution with the primary objective of evolving crop of intellectuals, and growing professional membership and network, for persons across all fields of life, who desire to distinguish themselves in the fields of social media management, and operate in tandem with contemporary realities.
The Institute provides a platform for research and cross fertilization of knowledge, learning and practice, especially as it relates to current and emerging demands in social media management. NISMA avails its teeming members a strong professional membership throughout Nigeria and provides framework for further development, international networking and a successful career in social media management. It continues to leverage its membership with the International Association of Social Media Analysts, best brains and experienced facilitators, in addition to its curriculums and well-attended programs tailored towards meeting emerging trends and best practices in the field of Social Media".

“Brief Research Report:
For ten (10) months now, our Research & Social Media Monitoring Unit has carefully monitored the trend and tone of the social media in relation to the activities and programmes of the governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno".

“Our analysis of his reports on the social media in all sectors over time shows an effective deployment of good e-governance engagement to the people of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria as a whole, and this is highly effective and commendable. We have observed that all the dividends of democracy which Governor Umo Eno has given to his people have earned him massive acceptability and he is effortlessly being cherished by his people having secured a favourable relationship with them through sustained good governance".

“Riding on the governance compass of his administration, the ARISE Agenda, the governor has won the hearts of the governed which shows us that good e-governance engagement increases process-based trust by improving interactions with citizens and perceptions of responsiveness. Pastor Umo Eno's good governance finds expression in his result oriented agricultural revolution policies which is a panacea for food sufficiency and food security in Akwa Ibom State. This is more enhanced by the food distribution programme to the poor and vulnerable members of the society, an initiative that has swelled the Governor's E-governance rating on the scale to the last calibration".

“This is being complemented by an on-going construction of ARISE Shelter homes for widows and their children. Under the programme, 400 homes will be built and handed over to these vulnerable people within four years. Already, most of the homes have reached various stages of completion across the 31 local government areas of the State, as we have monitored on the social media. Our analysis also reveal an aggressive rural development across the State where rural areas are turned into mini cities and urban centres through the provision of basic social amenities to the people. The act has stimulated development in these communities and rural areas. This too, has won the hearts of the people, and the model is highly recommendable".

“Our Social Media Monitoring Unit has equally shown us how Pastor Umo Eno is turning a devastating scenario to a tourist centre through the ecological remediation of gully reclamation projects in the State. The social media is saturated with this. His intervention in education, as seen in the model primary schools across the State, as well as the healthcare and tourism development sectors are equally top-shelf, and yielding applause and commendations for the Governor”.

“Very importantly, Governor Umo Eno has deliberately and strategically restored smile on the faces of retirees in Akwa Ibom State, having approved so far, 16 billion Naira for the payment of gratuities and other entitlements for them. This gesture, which has been overwhelmingly positive on the social media, has built gargantuan goodwill for him. The icing on the cake is the Governor's penchant for compassion and empathy, which is reverberating across the State, and beyond. He feels the pains of his people, and is always there for them and is always there for them in their trying times. The social media has overwhelmingly celebrated Governor Umo Eno on this rare attribute of a leader, which gives him out as governor of the people. The lists of his public relations determinants are humongous, and the world is looking his direction. A condensation of all of these has cumulatively culminated to building a towering good public image for the governor, leading to sustained positive reviews on the media space, organically".

“This and more make us to deservingly recommend and award His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State as the “SOCIAL MEDIA GOVERNOR OF YEAR” We do this with all amount of objectivity and fairness, and devoid of any sentiments attached. We hope that this will spur leaders across Nigeria to serve effectively, and add value to the society through E-governance Engagement. Since the society has migrated to virtual Society".

“While we look forward towards coming to give this award and also inspect this wonderful work done by you in Akwa Ibom State for record purpose, be rest assured of the highest esteem regards of the Chairman of the Governing Council pleases”.

Politics / Gov Umo Eno And The Flawless Premium On Social Welfare By Tony Udoh by Novela001(m): 2:31pm On Apr 15
Gov Umo Eno and the Flawless Premium on Social Welfare

By Tony Udoh

It was Benjamin Disraeli, the 1st Earl of Beaconsfield, a British statesman, and Conservative politician in his 1845 novel "Sybil or the Two Nations" that said, Power has only one duty - to secure the social welfare of the people.

This submission by the two term British Prime Minister enjoyed overwhelming acceptability and endorsement, and was also in alignment with "The Condition of the Working Class in England" published same year by renowned German political economist and philosopher, Friedrich Engels.

Many countries across the world have also adopted and constitutionalised this concept. In Nigeria, for instance, the 1999 constitution in Chapter 2, section 14, article 2(b) clearly states, "the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government."

However, in practical terms, there are only a few leaders, like Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno who have adopted, and personalised the letter and spirit of Disraeli's welfare concept.

Since assumption of office on May 29, 2023, Governor Umo Eno has through regular release of funds for arrears of gratuities, education intervention, bursary, series of appointments, and others, demonstrated that the people's welfare is his only duty for holding their mandate in trust; and that the ARISE Agenda of his administration is only a precursor to achieving a state of social welfare better attained than imagined.

It suffices to mention that for most Nigerians, one of the most unsettling news in the year 2023 has been the removal of fuel subsidy which has brought an unimaginable level of hardship on all. The cost of transportation, food items, and indeed everything tripled soon after the pronouncement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

While some states in the country only collected and distributed the palliative sent by the federal government, Governor Umo Eno, on his part, set up a committee compromising stakeholders from different sectors of the economy including labour and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), to draft modalities that would help to reach out to the people with some palliative to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.

Consequently, the State government distributed a total of 92, 836 bags of rice to all its citizenry, with 40 bags sent to each of the 2, 272 gazetted villages in the state, and 1400 bags to security agencies, non - indigenes and others. While 19, 821 bags of rice was received from the federal government, the State government provided 73, 015 bags to meet up with the required need of the State.

Unlike the usual practice where, in some cases, the items ended up in the hands of a few politicians and their cronies, Governor Umo Eno in his commitment to equity and fairness ensured that the food items were delivered to the different villages and were recieved by the village heads, chairmen and their youth leaders.

The Umo Eno approach, besides being widely applauded, enhanced a smooth and peaceful distribution, and according to fillers from different quarters, for the first time, government intervention effort reached every nook and cranny of the state.

Besides the above, the government set aside N2 billion as three months salary bonus to civil servants and paid N10, 000 to all the civil servants in the state since September. The state also declared ticket free days for all transport operators and traders in the state.

Similarly, the state also paid N10, 000 as bursary to over 3000 students of Akwa State origin in public tertiary institutions. There is an ongoing construction of model schools that will be laced with free exercise books, uniforms, and shoes to pupils in the state, as well as a plan to introduce CNG buses/electric taxis for affordable transportation among others.

The welfare packages and programmes of the Umo Eno- led administration is evidently inexhaustive. Last Christmas, workers across the State received a 13th month salary code named "Enomber," students are recieving bursary, the physically challenged grants, and patronages, and many more.

Compelled by his unquenchable desire to ensure that more Akwa Ibomites, especially the poorest of the poor are touched, Governor Umo Eno initiated the Arise Initiative for the Elderly where N50, 000, medical checks and multivitamins are given to 600 elderly citizens every month.

Also is the Arise Compassionate Homes initiative with expectation to build about 400 - two bedroom bungalows across the 31 Local government areas in the state for the poorest of the poor, beginning with one in each local government area.

The Umo Eno led - administration has sponsored different free medical outreaches across the 3 Senatorial Districts to ensure that medical services is made available and close to the people. Also, the ongoing construction of model primary healthcare centers is in furtherance of this gesture to ensure a healthier and happier society especially those in the grassroot.

Most recently, the Governor flagged-off the food security programme geared towards price stability and food sufficiency for the common good of Akwa Ibom State. The list is endless.

To some people, the welfarism of the Governor is akin to his vocation as a Pastor, while, to others, he is driven by his name 'Eno' which means gift or ( literally) giving. However, as it is in the character of Akwa Ibomites to nickname their leaders according to their priorities and performance, Governor Umo Eno is now being seen and aptly called MR. WELFARE.

GOV ENO VISITS FAMILY OF LATE NOLLYWOOD MAKE-UP ARTIST

…offers automatic employment to elder sister
…directs renovation of family house
…promises assistance to the undergraduate sisters

Living to his billing as the epitome of compassion, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on arrival from an official engagement in Abuja, this afternoon drove straight to the family compound of the late Nollywood make- up artist. Abigail Edith Frederick, in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area, where he consoled the bereaved family.

Showing deep emotions, Governor Eno, sat with the grieving family members and told them he feels their pain.

“This is deeply unfortunate, a young girl, 24 years old, who, finished her Youth Service just last year, and decided to pursue her passion.

“This is a reflection of our Arise spirit. It shows that our young people are willing to go out there, not begging, not waiting for handouts, but to pursue their passions.

“It is sad and unfortunate that her life ended the way it did.

“Once I was fully briefed, I decided to come here personally with the full complement of Government to console and encourage the family.

“You are not just the Governor when people are celebrating. In times and moments like this, you become the Mourner- in-Chief and give them hope.

“I trust the Holy Spirit will perfect the hope in their lives.

“Coming here means we care. You know Akwa Ibomites are like Americans. We don’t leave each other behind. Government will be with the family and support them.”

The Governor thereafter gave an automatic employment in the State Civil Service to the surviving elder sister of the deceased, and directed the SSA on Humanitarian Services, Umo Ekpo to renovate the family house and bring it to modern standards.

The Governor also assured of Government’s assistance to the two sisters of the bereaved who are undergraduates at the University of Uyo, said to be sponsored by the late Nollywood make- up artist.

Gov Umo Eno's Humanitarian Gesture Triggers Automatic Employment for ex-corps member

The milk of human kindness expressed by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno to Miss Arit Abam, an ex-corps member from Ugep, Cross River State, has brought her further goodwill.

The latest gesture is from Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State who has approved an immediate employment for Miss Abam in the State Civil Service

Otu's act of benevolence is sequel to the humanitarian action of his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Pastor Umo Eno who had earlier ordered the building of three bedroom bungalow for Abams.

It will be recalled that Gov Eno was attracted to a viral video posted on the social media by Arit Abam showing her honouring her father.

While presenting the appointment letter to Miss Abam, Governor Otu lauded Governor Umo Eno’s gesture towards Arit, noting that it confirms the bond between the two sister states.

Miss Abam had returned to her father's thatch house in the village and filmed herself proudly marching towards him; with a military-style salute, showed appreciation to him for investing in her education instead of building a house, by handing over her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, uniform to him.

She posted the video on social media, with a touching note of gratitude and a charge to youths not to be ashamed of their humble backgrounds; which eventually went viral.

Governor Eno had noted that his gesture was motivated by first, the desire to appreciate and encourage the young girl for being proud of her father and secondly, for the honour she accorded her father for his sacrifices towards her education.

He also said it was simply to appreciate the father who knows the value of education, and sacrificed his pleasure to see his girl-child through school.

Above all, he said it was to encourage other children to be proud of their parents irrespective of social status.

Governor Umo Eno is generally seen as one with a great concern for the social welfare of Akwa Ibom people, and beyond, especially through his impactful welfare programmes like the Food Security Programme, ARISE Elders Initiative, the ARISE Compassionate Homes initiative, 100 million education trust fund for the physically - challenged, interest- free loans for traders, entrepreneurship training and grants for budding businesses, bursary for students in public tertiary institutions, the 13th month salary for civil servants, payment of leave grants and gratuities and many others.

Politics / Apc Group Hails Gov Eno On Political Inclusion, Good Governance by Novela001(m): 6:24am On Apr 13
APC GROUP HAILS GOV ENO ON POLITICAL INCLUSION, GOOD GOVERNANCE

A socio political group Advocates for Good Governance and Humanity (Renewed Hope Agenda) has expressed delight with the performance of Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State describing his desire to work for the success of the state across partisan party lines as legendary.

The group which claimed total allegiance to the All Progressive Party (APC) and President Bola Tinubu made the assertion during a Press conference with journalists on Friday in Abuja.

According to Hajiya Zainab A.Ibrahim
Director General of the group, "As a good governance driven group, we are delighted to observe the unprecedented governance shown by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno across sectors.

"Although he is of a different political party from ours, we are compelled to commend him to serve as a spur to other Nigerians occupying political positions.

They added, "First of all, Governor Umo Eno has broken the walls of political party pettiness in his style of leadership.

“Renewed Hope Agenda observes with keen interest that immediately after election, Governor Eno has reached out to all stakeholders in the Nigerian project irrespective of their political parties.

“Such is seen in his smooth relationship with President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other top APC leaders across Nigeria.

"In his home State, Akwa Ibom, Governor Umo Eno has ensured that Akwa Ibom people are united even with diverse political backgrounds. In an unprecedented manner, he has a good working relationship with all the political appointees and stakeholders of the State across party lines, a reciprocation of which makes State functions to be attended by members of all political parties.

The group highlighted that Governor Eno has ensured that the entire State is on one page with the sole agenda of attracting development to the State, rather than being blinded by party sentiments. "This is a model governance for the entire Nigeria to emulate, especially as this contramyopic leadership style has already yielded fruits for the State" They intoned.

They advised other governors in Nigeria to borrow a leaf from Governor Eno for the needed political development of the entire Nigeria. The governor has greatly impressed us.

They traced the quantum of accomplishments the State has witnessed in his less than a year to the governor's focus on his job which is devoid of distractions in the name of politics or political parties rivalry stressing that it for this reason that Akwa Ibom State ranks enviably high among comity of States in Nigeria in achievements.

They explained, "this is a product of having a good leader in power. The impact of good governance in Akwa Ibom State is seen in all the sectors of development, from agriculture to infrastructure, flying on the wings of the ARISE Agenda which serves as the governance bible of the administration.

"It is no mean feat that the administration has already disbursed over N112 billion Naira for road infrastructure since May 2023, funding 39 new road projects and completing old projects.

"The agricultural revolution in the State is quite impressive.

“From the Ibom Model Farms project to other food sufficiency and security plans, Akwa Ibom State is closing in on food availability, affordability and accessibility.

“This is complemented by the free food distribution programme that is driven by the novel Bulk Purchase Agency of Governor Umo Eno.

"Rural development is on auto pilot, where the governor is opening up rural communities to attract the needed development to the doorsteps of the people.

"Education is taking centre stage, with model schools springing up, and, some ready for inauguration.

"There is also healthy health programmes where the governor is connecting the dots in the healthcare sector, with special attention to the primary healthcare which is witnessing the construction of new facilities in the sector.

"Youth empowerment and entrepreneurship is receiving adequate attention. N400 million Naira has been approved for disbursement to 800 trainees of the Ibom LED as grant of N500,000 each.

"Meanwhile, the governor has restored smile on the faces of the retirees in the State having approved nearly 20 billion Naira for the payment of gratuities to these retirees.

"To cap it all, the compassionate governor has approved the increment of pension for pensioners who retired before 2012 to meet up with the current economic realities in the country.

“The governor with a golden heart has impressed us the more with the ongoing construction of the ARISE Compassionate Homes across the 31 local government areas of the State where 400 Houses are to be built and handed over to the poor, especially widows and their children.

“These houses have boreholes and solar powered lights.

“Under the Direct Labour Agency, some projects have already been completed, while 19 are ongoing, including the 1 project per local government area initiative of the governor.

The list is endless, and we are resolved not be be blinded by political party differences to fail to acknowledge and commend the governor for being a worthy leader of his people, while calling on others to emulate him.

Renewed Hope Agenda stands for good governance with attendant development, and anywhere we find it, we must bring it to public attention irrespective of the background of who is behind such great feat.

“Governor Umo Eno has convincingly impressed us, and we are proud to identify with him.

"Advocates for Governance and Humanity, therefore, heartily congratulates Governor Eno for being the star of his time, and passionately appeal to him never to allow the steam and flame of this light of good governance he has lit to dim, but to remain aglow until succeeding generations beckon on him.”

GOV ENO HOSTS IFTAR WITH AKWA IBOM MUSLIM COMMUNITY
… institutes N200m interest -free loan
…Appoints SSA on Non- indigenes’ Affairs, SA Arewa Community.

In continuation of a tradition he has upheld long before he became the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, last night held an Iftar with the Muslim community in the State, at Government House, Uyo.

Led by the leadership of the Akwa Ibom Council of Islamic Affairs (AKCIA) which comprises, the Chairman, League of Imams in the Stare, Imam Abubakar Sadiq, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki (Sarakin Hausawa, Uyo, Alhaji Maruf Olobode Sani, Imam Ibrahim Okesina, Imam Bello Dahiru, the Governor thanked the Muslim community for their support during last year’s election and for maintaining the harmonious relationship that has existed in the State.

“Last year, when we had this same meeting in Eket, and I said that, if by the Grace of God, and with your support we win the elections, that this year’s Iftar, will be done in Government House.

“We thank God that He answered our prayers.

“Let me use this opportunity to thank the Arewa Community for your support during the elections. It was a massive support. And so if someone did something profoundly significant for you, it’s always good to reach back and say ‘thank you’, which is what we are doing this evening.

“We hope to go round all the groups; the Yoruba community, the Igbos and Niger Delta to tell them” thank you”.

“It was a tough election, but you stood your grounds and supported us.

“I remain eternally grateful and will always work to improve the living conditions of the poor, the vulnerable and those in the rural areas.

“We have a long history of living together, doing business together and trusting each other, and I would like to appeal now that the rains are here, and people are going back to the farms, that we continue to work together to ensure that the herders would conduct their business without destroying people’s farms, because we want to grow more staple foods to feed everyone here. We are not saying, don’t do your business, but in business world, we always say: You must mind how your business affects my business so we can all live harmoniously in peace and brotherhood as we have always done.”

The Governor thereafter, announced a 200 million interest-free loan to the Arewa Community, saying the same interest free loan would be extended to the Yoruba Community; the Igbo and the Niger-Delta communities.

The details of loans would be worked out shortly, the Governor had emphasized.

Koko Essien rtd..

“We are proud of your visionary approach to governance, especially as it concerns the rural dwellers and we pray Allah should grant you more wisdom to carry on.

“Our gathering here today with you is not the first, second or third. You have graciously been breaking fast with us as a private citizen, a community leader and a statesman, year in, year out. It is therefore not surprising that you extended same invitation for us to join you in Government House for this year’s Iftar.”

The Imam prayed for the Governor and his family, the State, the Exco and the people of the State.

The Governor, used the opportunity to appoint Mr. Emmanuel Ogbole as tte Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Non-Indigenes’ Affairs and Alhaji Ibrahim Iliya as the Special Assistant, Arewa Community.

Politics / Antai Has No Antecedence And Has Nothing To Offer In Nddc – Gov Eno’s Aide Fi by Novela001(m): 11:13pm On Apr 07
ANTAI HAS NO ANTECEDENCE AND HAS NOTHING TO OFFER IN NDDC
– GOV ENO’S AIDE FIRES BACK

Insults, abuses and verbal diarrhea may be the only developments brought to Akwa Ibom State throughout Mr Victor Antai’s tenure as the Executive Director of Projects in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Aside these trademarks, nothing else has passed as his antecedence in previous duty posts either as local government chairman for two terms or as Commissioner in two separate Ministries in Akwa Ibom State.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr Essien Ndueso, stated this while reacting to the recent verbal abuse on the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno by Mr Victor Antai.

In a video made available to our correspondents, Mr Antai apparently in a rally with party faithful in Eket on Easter weekend, is heard faulting the Akwa Ibom State Government’s food security programme, and also accusing the government of impoverishing the people for political gains.

Antai also accused the former Governor of the State, Mr Udom Emmanuel of remotely controlling the affairs of the State and invoked curses on the government, among other things.

Reacting, Dr Ndueso, a communication scholar posited that, “by resorting to Skiamachy, Mr Antai, has summarized his mission in NDDC, which has been unable to site any visible development in the State in recent times.

“The last time we witnessed a major project from the interventionist agency, was in December 2015 when a 600m bridge connecting a 6.7km Iko- Atabrikang-Iwuochang Road was commissioned in Ibeno.

“It might be a tall dream, expecting any good from a man who cannot point out any benefit he brought about, either in his private service, or throughout his public life.

“Perhaps this accounts for his serial defeats in all the offices he has aspired for, ranging from House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate.

“Most people, including eyewitnesses, have alleged that Mr Antai was drunk, and had little control over his speech and actions at the said event; however, I align with the thoughts of Prof Ola Rotimi who in his book, ‘the Gods are not to Blame’, said that it is what is in the mind when one is not drunk, that he mutters, when immersed in alcohol.

“As an Eket son, I personally feel insulted that the comedian chose Eket land for his theatric display of mockery. Eket is no place of secret altars of doom.

“The Easter season was a period political office holders gathered their people to render accounts of their stewardship and proposals; Antai who has no history, no plans for the people, chose to go shadow punching, to cover up his own infirmities.

“It is rather unfortunate that he also decided to venture into attacking Mr Udom Emmanuel,CON, a leader who has kept his promise of quietly leaving the scene at the end of his tenure.

“It has been as clear as daylight that Mr Emmanuel, since departure from Government House on May 29, 2023, has returned to his private practice.

“He clearly told the state, at a public function that there can only be one leader at a time, and that Governor Eno is his leader and the leader of the entire State. This unprecedented act of humility and support has been largely applauded, especially in a country, where predecessors compete assiduously for space with their successors.

“If not for anything, could he not have shown respect to the man who picked him up in 2015 and appointed him as commissioner in two respective ministries?”

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor added that Mr Antai, has failed to learn from history by choosing to tow the path of previous indigenes of the State who used the NDDC platform to launch political attacks against the Government of their home state, rather than collaborating to bring about developments. Those people did not end up well.

“I am happy that Governor Umo Eno has remained resolute in his readiness to continue partnering with everyone, irrespective of party divide, to attract benefits to the people”, he added.

“As expected, His Excellency the Governor who has remained focused on touching lives and investing in projects and programmes of immense value to the people, has refused to be distracted by this latest antics by Mr Antai.

“The millions of people who have benefited from the free food scheme for the downtrodden, the beneficiaries of the gratuity payments, beneficiaries of the scholarship and bursary schemes as well as the free shelter initiative recipients are among those who will answer Victor Antai.

“Everyone knows the Pastor Umo Eno was a successful entrepreneur before venturing to serve the public, and has seamlessly transferred this experience into government business. Where is Antai’s second address”, he quipped.

GOVERNOR UMO ENO COMMENDS NIS OVER COOPERATION WITH SISTER AGENCIES IN CHECKMATING CRIME

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has lauded the State Command of Nigeria Immigration Service for its complimentary role with other security agencies in checkmating criminality, especially the menace of illegal migration into the State, and by extension, the country.

This was the hallmark of his address to the officers of the State Command of the Immigration Service when he visited the new NIS Headquarters in Uyo.

He said the collaboration of the Immigration Service with other security agencies in the State has helped mitigate criminality and maintained the status of Akwa Ibom as a safe haven for residents and investors.

Reaffirming his administration's commitment to improving the security network in the State, the Governor assured of continuous collaboration of the State Government with the NIS to optimize service delivery in the interest of the Akwa Ibom public and Nigeria as a whole.

He announced the donation of a power generating set to the Command headquarters with assurance of linking the command to the national grid as well.

The Governor also used the opportunity to charge officers and men of the command on the need to go into farming in line with his food sufficiency and price stability plan for the State.

"I came here today to do my capturing in Akwa Ibom because I also wanted to see the command and the Comptroller in her office. I commend the neatness of the environment and the neatness of your officers and everyone. You didn't really know that I was coming so I can see that this is the culture and the norm of operations here.

"Thank you for the work you are doing, and cooperating with other security agencies to keep Akwa Ibom safe. Thank you for all your support. But please find time after work to own a farm, even if it is at the back of your house so that we can help bring down the price of food items. Anything you plant here can help," he stated.

Earlier, the State Comptroller of NIS, Jummai Babson, thanked the Governor for his support to the command which she said has enhanced their duty in the State.

The NIS boss assured the governor of the determination of the officers and men of the command to work for the safety of the State.

NDDC DIRECTOR OF PROJECTS UNDER FIRE FROM KINSMEN
“WE NEED TRUCKS OF PROJECTS NOT DRUMS OF WAR”

Disturbed by the recent vituperative outbursts by the Executive Director, Projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Victor Antai several groups in Akwa Ibom have warned him against stoking flames capable of destroying the State.

The latest being a group, Akwa Ibom Visioners who berated him for his unguided utterances capable of sowing seeds of discord in the peaceful state.

In a statement jointly signed by Pastor Victor Charles, and made available to Journalists in Uyo on Wednesday, the group frowned at Antai for not being sensitive to the political mood of the State.

According to the statement, “Antai has been blessed to be in the NDDC as Executive Director of Projects, and instead of bringing projects, he is instigating violence and crises in the State.”

They wondered why Mr Antai who who had seen Governor Umo Eno’s peaceable disposition to everyone despite political differences, would choose to embark on a lone journey of inflammatory rhetorics against the Governor.

"Governor Umo Eno has displayed a high level of political inclusivity since coming to power, carrying all Akwa Ibom leaders and stakeholders along irrespective of political party platforms.”

“Such exemplary leadership style of the governor should be emulated by all Akwa Ibom leaders, as against this banal politics by Mr Victor Antai.

"We have observed the way Governor Umo Eno is stabilizing the political climate of the State by giving every Akwa Ibom person that sense of belonging. You will even think that he does not have a political party. His major concern is the interest of Akwa Ibom State hence, he is rallying all Akwa Ibom people to attract development from the federal government to the State. For Governor Eno, his guiding principle in governance.

"From the way Governor respects President Bola Tinubu to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, everyone has seen that Governor Eno stands for peace, unity and prosperity of the State.

“Does such a governor deserve the kind of insults and abuses Mr Antai displayed? Imagine giving a microphone to a lady to insult a State Governor," the statement continued.

The group hailed Governor Umo Eno on his developmental strides across the State, noting that about 80 roads are presently under construction as flagged off by the governor, and expressed disappointment that Mr Antai who is supposed to partner the State Government on development owing to his position as the executive director projects in the NDDC is rather the one leading the insults on the governor.

"We have seen what the governor is doing. He is responsive across all the sectors including human development. Imagine the billions already committed to payment of gratuities of retirees.

"In the aspect of projects, we are proud of Governor Umo Eno's accomplishments so far. Over 80 billion Naira is already being released for road construction projects across the State, including the roads in Victor Antai's community. And instead of writing appreciation letter to the governor, he is trying to dent the governor's image through peddling false information.

"It is even Mr Victor Antai, as an executive director of projects in the NDDC, and indeed, the entire APC family from Akwa Ibom State at the national level that are performing abysmally below expectations. One would have expected Mr Antai to approach the governor to see roads he can attract to Akwa Ibom State, but he would not do it because he does not love Akwa Ibom State, and it is obvious he does not also love himself," the group concludes.

They enumerated various projects and initiatives of the governor including the Ibom Model farms and general agricultural revolution, Ibom Neighbourhood Watch, healthcare development, education renaissance, bulk purchase agency and free food distribution as well as the shelter programme for the poor.

The group thanked Governor Eno for his humane character and spirit of unity as the leader of Akwa Ibom State, and passed a vote of confidence on the governor.

They particularly appreciated the governor for his humility, and commended his aides for ensuring that the peaceful mien of the governor reflects in their conducts by not toing the path of Victor Antai to abuse and attack anyone who shares a different political belief with their boss, and cautioned Antai not to push them to the world.

The statement strongly warned Mr Antai against truncating the peace that is being enjoyed in the State through his untoward and petty conduct, to the extent of bringing the respectable name of Governor Umo Eno to disrepute.

They appealed to Governor Eno to keep on with his good work.

Akpabio to Antai: ATTACK UMO ENO OR LOSE NDDC POSITION, GROUP

The recent comments by the Executive Director Projects, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Victor Antai in a video circulating in the social media has been condemned by the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking under the aegis of Ibom Mirrors, the people said Mr Victor Antai's address as seen on the video is simply a confession of their plot against Governor Umo Eno.

A statement signed by the president and secretary of the group, Comrade Kingsley Sunday and Prince Godwin Peter, Mr. Antai has also succeeded in naming the chief sponsor of the plot to frustrate Governor Umo Eno.

According to them, Senator Godswill Akpabio is fighting Governor Eno by proxy, using Victor Antai and others.

The statement reads: "Everyone knows that Senator Akpabio is a snake. It is not that we did not expect him to wage a needless war against Governor Umo Eno. But this situation that appears that the only condition Akpabio has given to Victor Antai to maintain his office at the NDDC is to wage attack on Governor Eno is too shameful on Akpabio.

"If despite the respect Governor Eno has accorded Akpabio, even when he does not deserve it in anyway, Akpabio still has sinister motives against the governor, then he is really a heartless individual."

The group wonders why a Senate President will be so petty to focus more on fighting his State Governor than lead a functional national assembly, and questions Victor Antai for being such a vulnerable tool in the hands of Senator Akpabio.

"Yes, we know that frustration can push someone into acting funny. We all saw how hopeless Victor Antai was for the years he was idle and begging to eat. We know that he was feeding at the mercy of Akpabio. But is that enough reason for Antai to do just anything Akpabio wants him to do?

"At least now, he has a job. He should not fall for Akpabio's blackmail. It is obvious Senator Akpabio has no conscience. But we thought Victor Antai was a saner person. You cannot be an executive director of projects and turn the projects to be fighting the governor just to impress Senator Akpabio," the statement noted.

It advised Mr Victor Antai to recall the fate of previous Akwa Ibom sons who felt they had NDDC at their beck and call to deploy to fighting the governors at their time.

"None of them succeeded. They ended up aggregating their profile of frustration. That will eventually become Antai's fate if he doesn't stop being used to fight Governor Umo Eno," the group noted.

The group advised Antai to use his position to attract development to Akwa Ibom State to complement the effort of Governor Eno instead of waging a needless war with the governor.

The statement added that the simplicity and humility of Governor Umo Eno should not be abused, and advised Akpabio to end the fight with his State Governor rather than recruiting everyone who finds favour in his hands to fight Governor Umo Eno.

"It now looks like the major reason for giving them these appointments was to use them against Governor Umo Eno. Why is Akpabio always predictable?

"For the umpteenth time, we urge Victor Antai to stop being a willing tool for fighting Governor Umo Eno. Now that Akpabio has turned him into a bee, at the end the day, the day, the bee will sting itself," the group intoned.

Crime / Over 50million Naira Fraud Uncovered In Emoimee- Hcdt Bursary Scheme For Onna Lo by Novela001(m): 7:47am On Mar 28
HOST COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WATCH

PRESS STATEMENT

OVER 50MILLION NAIRA FRAUD UNCOVERED IN EMOIMEE- HCDT BURSARY SCHEME FOR ONNA LOCAL GOVT. AREA.

On the 8th of March, 2024, in response to concerns regarding the integrity of the bursary nominees, a verification committee was setup by the Board of Trustees Member, EMOIMEE- Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) for ONNA Local Government Area, Mr. Clinton Akpan. The committee was led by Hon. Patrick Ifon, former member of the House of Representatives, alongside esteemed members of the Watch.

Our methodology of verification encompassed a thorough examination across five key columns:

Student Name Identification: Scrutinize entries for duplicates, discrepancies, or unclear information.
Institution Verification: Validate institution names, flagging errors or unknown entities.
Department/Course Evaluation: Assess course details for accuracy and relevance.
Registration Number Analysis: Examine registration numbers for duplicates and adherence to formatting standards.
On-Site Verification: Conduct visits to some schools to confirm student details and identify any inconsistencies.

OUR FINDINGS:

STUDENTS NAME VERIFICATION: Our scrutiny revealed 30 instances of duplicate names, which necessitated further investigation.
INSTITUTION VERIFICATION: We identified 20 entries with erroneous or unspecified institution names, a matter demanding clarification.
DEPARTMENT/COURSE EVALUATION: Upon review, 94 entries displayed discrepancies in the level of study or listed programs, warranting attention.
STUDENT REGISTRATION NUMBERS ANALYSIS: Analysis uncovered 644 entries with irregular registration number formats, constituting a significant portion of the list's content.
ON-SITE VERIFICATION: Through on-site visits to 4 tertiary Institutions within the state, we ascertained that 263 entries out of 539 were non-students, indicating a substantial misallocation of funds.

The data gleaned from the verification of the four schools visited underscores a concerning revelation: approximately N52,600,000.00 out of the allocated N191,000,000.00 budget for the Bursary Scheme, equating to 27.5% of the total budgeted sum, would have been wrongfully appropriated into the pockets of a few individuals.

If the findings from the verification of four schools within Akwa Ibom State have revealed such significant instances of fraud, ineligibility, and wrongful appropriation amounting to approximately N52,600,000.00 it stands to reason that the total amount would undoubtedly escalate when the data from schools outside Akwa Ibom State are factored into consideration.

Regrettably, our findings indicate that approximately 70% of the submitted entries contain inaccuracies, highlighting a systemic issue in the bursary allocation process. Therefore, we assert the following recommendations with utmost urgency:

LIST DISPOSAL AND FRESH COMMENCEMENT: Given the pervasive errors, we advocate for the complete invalidation of the current bursary list. To ensure transparency and adherence to standards, a new process should be initiated under the oversight of the consultants appointed to the TRUST for ONNA Local Government Area.

TOTAL REVIEW OF ALL THE PROJECTS: In light of the disconcerting disclosure concerning the misappropriation within the startup initiative (Bursary Scheme), coupled with the identification of several fraudulent projects outlined in the development agenda, it is imperative to initiate a comprehensive review of all the projects within ONNA Local Government Area.

Concurrently, we advocate for the immediate suspension of fund disbursements earmarked for projects within ONNA Local Government Area until a thorough investigation is undertaken by both regulatory authorities (NUPRC), and the Settlors, (NNPC/MPN JV).

This proactive measure is crucial to forestall any potential misallocation or diversion of resources and to safeguard against the exploitation of public funds by entrusted custodians.

BOARD REPRESENTATION REVIEW: To effectively actualize the overarching goals and aspirations outlined within the framework of the TRUST, as delineated by the regulatory body (NUPRC) and the Settlors (NNPC/MPN JV), it is imperative that individuals of unimpeachable integrity spearhead the guidance and oversight of developmental initiatives.
However, the deficiency in transparency and probity by ONNA Representatives in the EMOIMEE –HCDT in the discharge of their duties fails to reflect the broader interests of the community they purportedly represent.
The recent discovery of irregularities within one of the designated projects outlined in the comprehensive five-year development plan, specifically the disbursement of Bursary payments to students of ONNA Local Government in Tertiary Institutions under the EMOIMEE-HCDT NNPC/MPN JV, underscores the severity of this issue. If such malfeasance can infiltrate a project as ostensibly straightforward as student bursaries, it raises grave concerns regarding the integrity of the entire developmental agenda.
It is reasonable to surmise that the presence of fraud within this singular project suggests a systemic vulnerability within the entire spectrum of initiatives outlined in the development plan.

The individuals responsible for the fabrication of fraudulent entries within the Bursary nominees, must be held accountable for their actions, else it might jeopardize the fundamental objectives and principles upon which the TRUST was established, and thus necessitates immediate reassessment and remedial action.

INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION: We urge NUPRC, NNPC/MPN JV, to conduct an independent investigation into our findings and take decisive disciplinary action in accordance with established protocols. Such measures are imperative to uphold the integrity of the TRUST and deter future misconduct.

In conclusion, the integrity of the TRUST hinges upon the integrity of its appointed representatives. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us to ensure that those entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the developmental trajectory of ONNA Local Government embody the highest standards of probity, transparency, and accountability. Only through such measures can we truly realize the transformative potential of the TRUST and foster sustainable development for the benefit of all stakeholders involved.

If our demand goes unheeded, we will not hesitate to commence legal proceedings promptly to address our concerns.

We remain committed to supporting these efforts and ensuring accountability and fairness in all endeavors.

Yours sincerely,

A'IBOM GOVT TO PARTNER LAVENDER FARMS FOR EXPANSION

...donates utility vehicle to support young A'Ibom Agropreneur

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has demonstrated his commitment to the Agricultural Revolution aspect of his ARISE Agenda by partnering an indigenous company, Lavender Farms to scale up its farming operations.

On a visit to the Farm at Afaha Etok, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Governor Eno directed that the SSG, Prince Enobong Uwah and Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Offiong Offor, should liaise with the farm management to explore possible areas of partnership to develop the farm, and also announced instant donation of utility vehicle to aid the farm's logistics.

The Governor said, he was proud of the Ikono born Managing Director of the farm, Ubong Inyang, stressing that his venture into agriculture was in line with the government's ARISE Agenda.

He commended Ubong's dedication to the running of the massive integrated farm venture and not depending on parents' achievements, despite his rich family background.

He called on other youths in the State and beyond to emulate such, as he reaffirmed government's commitment to creating a conducive environment for productive ventures to thrive in the state.

In his words, "I feel extremely proud of him. These are the kind of people I want to support. It is not just enough to blame government, start something; there is no one that would not love to support this kind of effort.

"We are already looking for areas we can support him to scale up. He has already said that he wants to scale up. That is why I came here with the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and SSG.

"As we conclude this inspection, we have observed that what he lacks now is a farm vehicle. So to encourage him beyond the partnership that we want to have, I am requesting the SSG to release one farm vehicle for him immediately to mark our visit" he added.

In expression of gratitude, Inyang said he was pleasantly surprised and elated to have the governor pay a visit to his farm.

He acknowledged the push by the Pastor Umo Eno- led government to encourage farming and entrepreneurship, as well as the atmosphere maintained in the State as strong inspiration for him.

Inyang expressed optimism that with government's support, he is sure to expand his farm's operations, while urging other Akwa Ibom youths to see agriculture as a lucrative venture.

Politics / Pst. Umo Eno: Championing A Progressive Precedence Over Rigid Ideological Divisi by Novela001(m): 5:08pm On Mar 23
Pst. Umo Eno: CHAMPIONING A PROGRESSIVE PRECEDENCE OVER RIGID IDEOLOGICAL DIVISIONS

While Receiving clusters of defectors from other political parties in the State on Friday, March 22, 2024, Pastor Umo Eno made an enthralling declaration that held the atmosphere spellbound, one of a kind ever heard from or made by a leader in contemporary times.

Governor Umo Eno's compulsive declaration on remaining a staunch PDP member while supporting President Tinubu's administration signifies a departure from traditional partisan politics towards a more cooperative and open-minded approach – a kind of rare leadership that is the sought after in the 21st century. His advocacy for a more respectful and inclusive political environment in Akwa Ibom State, sets a precedence for leaders to prioritize governance over strict party lines, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual understanding.

The Governor’s emphasis on inclusivity and collaboration inkles his unalloyed penchant for uniting the state regardless of political affiliations which was also barely dramatized by welcoming defectors from other parties into the ruling party BUT without compromising his own political stance.

Such could be deductively and unpretentiously adjudged as the Governor’s willingness to work with a diverse range of individuals for the collective good of the State. This approach aligns with the ethos of inclusivity, which is the core of the modern-day leadership demand.

Pastor mo Eno exemplifies a non-status-quo leader who does not maintain the status quo and follow the established patterns set by Social proofs and conventions. The world is fraught with these Traditionalist Leaders who follow same patterns, preferring to adhere to familiar practices and structures, even when those patterns are not ideal, effective and does not appeal to social good. The governor in all his doings is innovating a paradigm for the entrenchment of a new, unified Akwa Ibom State

Manifesting in his style are the qualities of a modern-day statesman by championing inclusivity, collaboration, and progressive leadership principles. His willingness to transcend political divides, promote unity, and prioritize the common good of Akwa Ibom State, positions him as one capable of recalibrating the long-anticipated contemporary governance with a focus on sustainable development and societal progress.

Pastor Eno cemented his stance on mutual respect for constituted authority when he, on that occasion, also admonished that “We must show respect, decency and loyalty. That's why, everything that the President had promised us, God will touch his heart and he will give it to us. You don't abuse somebody and then turn round and want to go and benefit from the person. Is that good?”

His leadership style reflects a modern and progressive outlook that sets a precedence against the divisionist tendency inherent in partisanship.

Cognizant of the need for cooperation and unity across party lines, the governor is demonstrating a forward-thinking approach that transcends traditional political barriers in pursuit of common goals and development for the state.

Politics / Send Akpabio To Leadership Protocol Workshop- Kinsmen by Novela001(m): 8:12am On Mar 12
SEND AKPABIO TO LEADERSHIP PROTOCOL WORKSHOP- KINSMEN

...AS AKPABIO FACES REJECTION BY AKWA IBOMITES OVER INCESSANT OUTBURSTS

Worried by the incessant unguarded outbursts attributed to Nigeria’s Senate President Godswill Akpabio, his kinsmen have advocated a special leadership protocol workshop for him.

They have also distanced themselves from his incessant controversial misdemeanor, dismissing them as self inflicted damages uncharacteristic of Akwa Ibom people.

A frontline group from his home state, Akwa Unity Forum(AUG), stated that it was very embarrassing, the current situation where the Number Three citizen of the country has metamorphosed from a responsible nobleman, to an iconic comic figure.

The group in a statement by Chairman, Aniefiok Umoh and Secretary, Solomon Okon, said it was particularly embarrassed by Senator Akpabio's unwarranted remarks at the funeral of the late Dr Herbert Wigwe where Akpabio responded wrongly to the remarks by the Rivers State Governor, Mr Simlaye Fubara.

They expressed fear that something remarkably bad must have happened to Akpabio leading to his diminishing profile.

The statement reads in part, "We are yet to come to terms that such a sober event did not matter to Senator Akpabio, but he rather saw it as an opportunity to play politics. Must he played politics with everything?

"Governor Fubara was not saying anything untoward. He was just inferring the ephemerality of life hence people should live conscious of the end."

The group expressed surprise that such was enough to trigger Akpabio to begin his outburst, oblivious of the fact that one family had lost three lives, including a man that had all to have bought life for the family if it were possible.

The group wished Akpabio had humbled himself to learn a lesson or two from the event in Port Harcourt.

According to the group, Senator Akpabio by that act has brought invectives to Akwa Ibom people.

They however appealed to Nigerians to know that the former Governor is on a frolic of his own, as "Akwa Ibom people are highly responsible and well behaved.

“Akpabio is on his own. Nobody sent him. It is only coincidentally to have him come from our State.

“But don't use his unguarded utterances to rate us," the group cried out.”

The statement noted that already, Akpabio is owing Akwa Ibom people a strong apology over his concocted cock and bull story on the Qua River Hotel, the malicious false narrative about Mobil Producing being meant to have been sited in Oron, inciting the people against the laws of the Akwa Ibom Traditional Rulers Law and the Map Establishment law, among others.

"While we acknowledge that Senator Akpabio had apologized to the Governors. How about Akwa Ibom State that he said non existent and inciting things?

“That false narrative had attracted condemnation from responsible and respectful Nigerians. Yet, Akpabio did not consider it pertinent to apologize for creating confusion and misgivings between brothers.

“Akpabio has now become a one week one embarrassment Senate President.

“He needs urgent orientation to understand the rudiments of such exalted office as the Senate President.

“Although that is already putting the cart before the horse. This embarrassment has now reached an unacceptable level," the statement further opined.

Meanwhile, the group has equally hinted that even the story Akpabio told about his alleged visit to a Deputy governor in 2006 is a pure lie. They wondered where Akpabio is now manufacturing lies as his only weapon to gain undeserving public acceptance or even sympathy.

The group asked Akpabio whether as the then commissioner for lands and housing whether it was his responsibility to removing governors as he cooked up in the story.

According to them, Akpabio should even be punished for allegedly being a witness to the abuse and molestation of a woman without exposing the action, and noted that even now is not late for Akpabio to be invited to come and testify for possible prosecution of the eventual culprit.

The statement concluded that something urgent needs to be done to save Akpabio before he completely immerses such a revered institution like the Nigerian Senate in an ocean of destruction because of his lack of understanding of the import of the office he is holding.

"For the umpteenth time, we appeal to the federal government to urgently hold an orientation programme for Senator Godswill Akpabio. We cannot fold our hands to watch a hitherto responsible man fully degenerate to a laughing stock and object of ridicule. Let us help Akpabio from his diminishing voyage and save our nation," the statement concluded.

2023 WORKERS DAY: A'IBOM WORKERS TO GET HOUSING SCHEME PARTING GIFT FROM GOV EMMANUEL

Akwa Ibom workers today received the assurances of the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel of a parting gift of a medium housing scheme before the end of the current administration.

Addressing the 2023 International Workers Day celebration held at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo, the Governor said work was ongoing on the project and that some units were already completed awaiting commissioning before May 29.

"for the Housing Scheme, let me reassure you that before I leave office on May 29, I'm going to commission a Medium Housing Scheme for workers. As at today we've done a lot of units. Just trust me, we'll commission that before we leave office", he assured.

Appreciating the robust working relationship he has enjoyed with Akwa Ibom workers by extension the organised Labour throughout his tenure, the governor asserted that Government and Labour are supposed to partner for the development of the state rather than play rivalry.

This, he affirmed, has been upheld by Labour during his tenure.

On issues of discontentment among workers in some work organisations in the state, Governor Emmanuel said he does not subscribe to victimization but stressed that discipline should be the watchword for all parties.

He also pleaded for patience with business organizations that may not be able to meet up certain demands while still trying to find footing.

In a solidarity message, the incoming governor, Pastor Umo Eno, appreciated the workers for fulfilling their pledge to support his emergence in the March 18 gubernatorial election and assured that he would keep his own part of the bargain upon assumption of office.

The Governor-elect further promised to further the mutually beneficial Government-Labour relationship in the state and urged all sectors to synergize in the interest of the state.

The Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien, described as apt the theme of this year's celebration "Workers' Rights and Socio-Economic Justice" maintaining that the Udom Emmanuel - led government has continued to do justice to workers' welfare by implementing policies that impact the lives of workers and retirees.

He therefore sued for continuous dedication to duty on the side of the workers to reciprocate government gestures.

The State Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr. Amuboh Oroghene, congratulated Akwa Ibom workers on the event, admonishing them to resist mortgaging long group interest for short-term personal gains in their quest for better working conditions.

On the part of the organized Labour, the Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Sunny James and his Trade Union Congress, TUC, counterpart, Comrade Dominic Abang, both acknowledged the sacrifices of workers to building the economy and the commitment of the current administration to improve workers' welfare, especially as regards prompt payment of salaries and other emoluments.

Comrade Sunny James however called on the Governor to address some critical needs of workers like consequential pension adjustment of retirees, payment of gratuities and leave grant to all categories of workers in the State and those in the Local Government employ, promotion arrears for workers, refund of 7.5% deductions made for contributory pension to workers, logistics support to workers' unions and other issues bothering on welfare of workers.

Highpoint of the event was march pass by various labour unions and organizations.
