I’m an old member of this forum ..
I need your advice on something. Pls it’s going to be a very long post. Luminous , jeshal007, dontrulee and others, pls I need you to read this.
I have been in relationship with this girl for 4 years, she’s a graduate and a 100/10 beauty wise .. when I
say beauty wise, Omo ehn she’ll be regarded as one of the most beautiful and attractive woman you’ll ever come across, , . Lol..
her cooking is 8/10..
respect 5/10..
Intelligence generally 5/10
Exposure 4/10( most of her exposure na wetin she dey read on phone lol)
Intelligence bookwise 4/10
A graduate .
Beautiful is honestly speaking 1000/10( imagine a Beyoncé and nenji put together )..

She barely talks outside , infact people would say she’s proud lol.. but inside she can talk ehn,

Now here’s the thing, her mom has divorced twice , and she doesn’t have a good or bad relationship with her dad. Her dad married 4 women. And from little I’ve known, her dad is present in her life , sometimes they visit their dad during festive times..
When we met, I was not doing bad , although was still living with my parents, but from all indications , I was doing well by my age …


During the course of this four years , I have progressed tremendously , she among others influenced my decisions of going for my degree and moving out of my parents house. I had NATIONAL DIPLOMA when we met and was living in a room inside my parent house. she was running her degree then) . up till now, she barely knows net worth, I’ve always given her the impression that I am average money wise. In all honesty and to be fair , she’s not that money freak, but she’s stubborn.,


Due to her background, there has been many things off about her which I’ve been able to correct some. Before, during argument, she’ would talk back at me or go home or start crying .. I’ve been able to correct this after years… she’s the kind of person that’ll give you the impression that you can’t control her.. but the moment you start vexing or looking at her, she’ll adjust .. I’m yet to catch her cheating ( generally I don’t trust women) but tbh, I have not , sometimes I sneak around her phone and all that, but I stopped recently cos it makes me feel desperate and obsessive.

She’s caught me cheating once , and that was when we had issues, we didn’t see for like 3 weeks it was then i met one sweet nairaland babe lol.., my girl discovered and cried bitterly , she went to report me to my family ( my mom really really loves her ehn), they scolded me and she fell sick for like two weeks cos of this . She said something which I hold dear to my heart since then, she said ‘ even though she saw the evidence of cheating on my phone , that she’s still not going to believe if not that I confirmed it with my mouth’ she said was willing to die that I didn’t do it.,’

I learnt that even if a woman catches u live and direct doing something bad, baba still deny am o. lol



She’s open to me financially wise, infact she keeps her money with me and won’t take any decision concerning money without my knowledge. Shes stubborn o , except u change it for her, she no go hear word easily .. her mom and brothers really love me, especially her immediate brother … she’s currently doing her service and would travel every 2 weeks to meet me, infact she’ll lie at the school and visit me unannounced at my place ..


Let me put it like this, I make around 30-100k daily average na 60k most time sha ,
And I spend around 15-30k on her monthly .. the highest money I have spent on her at ago was 120k and 50k .. she’s spent on me too but it’s very little compared to mine.. highest she’s spent on me was 40k at a go, I’m 28 years.

Now this is the problem , I discovered that when she gained admission to school, she’s slept with an older man. And she’s had abortion for her ex. That was like two years before we met.. I narrowed down my search and discovered she’s no more in communication with them. She’s 23 years of age. And tbh, I love her but anytime I think of those things e Dey always pain me in silent …

When I was running my NG program, I knew this girl as a friend sister, she was around 16 or so then,she added me up and we would and jokes on Facebook.. she’ll subtly profess her love for me but I Dey always body shame her that she’s below my standard, she ended up blocking me and years later , she texted me on Facebook and we started talking .. she’s 21 now , look and appearance wise, she’s 2/10.. also her cooking is 1/10 tbh she’s not my type appearance wise , she studied nursing in school and she came visiting sometimes last year..

the nairaland girl I met said she has 6 body counts ( she agreed to) but from my calculations and research, e go reach 17 ( no jokes).. said shes aborted twice for diff men.
she’s rich though and the smartest of them all, she’s very beautiful too, her beauty is 8/10.. she’s super extremely smart , business wise, mentally and emotionally. Infact she’s better than me at the emboldened.. she’s 25. All of dem are ready to say yes, if I Dey ready. Her mom has divorced too, but remarried ..

Any which way, as long as the area has low water level, you don't have to worry much. There was one we did last year where all the walls were soaked, paints pilling off and house general dam.

Measure 3 ft from the floor and ground with tiles.
If you haven't done the flooring, use DPM before tilling. These will mitigate the effects.

I actually did honestly , and all the material I used are very solid and quality . I didn’t cut corner in anyway .
It was yesteday morning while searching for roof prices ( trying to compare to what I’ve got) that’s when I came accross this thread having been here for 8 years o.. then I saw a particular comment that has to do with German floor , i read all the whole pages and it downed on me that it’s very important. Called my mason, friends, surveyor and his padi padi architect ( wey Help me with the design, no mind me na small money I give am ) and ask all of dem yesterday the consequences, all of dem said the land dry, and rocky that’s it’s not needed. I’m still not convinced, told my bricklayer to meet me at the site right away , went there , we do many many talking before I comot cos of rain yesterday.

See bro I’m not endangering anyones life ok, I’m just the kind of person that if I don hear something like this , na there my heart go Dey ..

When I was little my mom told me that pressing phone , and using anything like glass or watching television or standing at the door mouth when it’s raining heavily that thunder fit strike and kill the person ,,

Baba up to these days , no matter how important the call or message I can never press my phone when it’s raining and I can never watch television when it’s raining, and I no fit stand or rest my back on chair . My mind always goes to that thing Even though people have Managed to convince me otherwise.
My plan was to sell it cheaply self Abi u expect me to watch my money to just waste..
Now that I’ve been convinced enough I won’t sell it. I’ve reached conclusion to do the concrete .

It’s going to be my house if God’s willing. My next project will have German floor to avoid unnecessary headaches.

My building has a foundation that is 4 blocks high all round, as it was in the design by the architect. The location is in PH, in an area where the land is dry. So far, I haven't experienced any damp. But the first building had same height of foundation and about 18" step down in the living room only, even with the DPC, I noticed peeling off after screeding and painting in one section of the wall. All other rooms are very OK. My Engineer said 'the height of the foundation and the dryness of the land will ensure there's no damp'.

I wouldn't want to mention the house in the east because I am not sure of the height of the foundation. I built on an existing foundation. So I don't know exactly how many blocks was there. But it is not as high as others, I will say most likely 3 blocks high. Till date no damp even without DPC but the land is 'desert' dry and sandy.
That's just my own observation. Thank you.

Same thing the manna told me. My foundation blocks na 6 couches for back, 5………4,couches for front ( e step down )..
Besides water is very scarce in the area to the extent that most of them go to factory at the junction to fetch tap water and the ones wey get shoulder pad Dey buy water.. when I was about to mould the blocks and setting , I dig well, water no come, naso so rock( wasted like 130k cos dem blast am reach 6 times , people around me have also tried but e no touch water, so most of dem don close am, ) although the egede guy wey Dey blast am say make I continue to Dey blast say e go soon touch water,I just told him say I don hear

Eventually I had to pay dem labors for water( 1700 or 1500 per drum depends on where dem see water ) , everyday until the settings and lintel/casting completed ..



I plan to dig borehole for all of us.. if God’s willing .,

Since you are yet to do concrete flooring, it can still be remediated.
Just like diordaves suggested earlier use a DPM (nylon) whenever you want to do the flooring.
However break the internal part of the blocks at the lower part that will be in contact in german floor particularly the exterior walls.
Extend the DPM into the broken blocks, let the german floor extend into the broken blocks holding down the DPM. This should prevent damping of the inside walls of the building

For the exterior, you can use a fanciful tiles below a wall belt at the lower part of the building.

Btw, I called the mason yesteday , told him all this and he insisted that it doesn’t need that the area and soil condition can’t give room to dampness . He showed me houses around me,he explained a lots to me and took me to some far away houses where it’s mandated to use German floor, very far to my place . I still insisted , he said if that’s is the case I should just settle for concrete thick concrete flooring just like someone earlier on has suggested.

If she was not like this before you married her, then you don’t have any blame. But if she showed all these and you still went ahead , then you short yourself ..

Normally marriage no Dey rosy , u don already put yourself for the marriage palava, check within yourself , and try to be more friendly and caring for her.

This is the mother of your kid, treat her like your second half and spice things up .. before you marry a woman , I believe you understand her to certain extent, try repeat things you did that made her fall in love with you at first ..
But that doesn’t mean you should simp around ,, or should have limit cos women sabi abuse things ..

After you do all these and she seems not to change , then it’s high time you counted your loss and move on .. let her go and take your time before you dabble into another relationship . Love do fade tbh

if it is must for you to use parapet, then it is better for you to use precast parapet, the weight is lesser compare to concrete parapet and more cheaper

Concrete parapet are more expensive compare to Precast Parapet

When you choose concrete parapet, consider the following.

You will buy woods for the framing of your design, and you will also pay the carpenters that will do the job.

You will buy iron rod for the work and you will also pay the welder that will do the work

You will buy granite and sharp sand and cement for the casting and you pay the masons that will do the work.

Materials you need for the concrete parapet.
Woods
Nails
Iron rods
Binding Wire
Granite
Sharp Sand
Cement

But for precast parapet
All you need to buy is few granite for beam, few sharp sand for the moulding, cement and workmanship, meaning you are providing Materials.

But if you don't want to provide materials, we also charge you per meter and the work is done, we would provide materials.

You spend less on precast parapet and more on concrete parapet

Concrete parapet is forever attach to your building.

It is only binding wire that is holding precast parapet, the binding will rust and weak in the next thirty years, it will fall.

Finally, u can choose any designs you want in both concrete and precast Parapet.

Instead of concrete Facing board you should use plank facing board to suppress the weight

in all honesty I don’t understand what you meant by facing board but I will go for pre cast parapet as they talk say that one too light compared to casting( concrete ).. if that’s what you’re talking about .. thanks

In your post, there are two main concern to be addressed.

1. Many people did their house without German Floor, it is a good thing for it to be done. But you have passed that stage now. Your house will not fall or crumble because of that, have no fear.
Just make sure to do a good concrete floor before you do your tilings. Dont be too scared because you didnt do the German floor.

2. You probably cannot do any parapet now because we are not sure if pillars were introduced when ypur house is being built. And also parapet must be done before roofing. If you dont do parapet, it's not the end of life, roof your house normally with facing board.
If you must do parapet, the only parapet you can do at this stsge is the aluminium parapet, and it can be done when you are doing the roofing.

I hope those addressed your major concern.

What I meant is that e remain make I do roofing
And I supported the house with pillar round ( the house have 10 pillars in total ) four each side , two at the back , where the foundation has 6 couches of block, I supported it with double wall round..

Nothing will happen to the building but I suggest you use facing board so as to reduce the weight of the building

do know that you’re talking to a novice here . What is facing board pls ( I just come accross this thread today today )

since you are at roofing stage or roofing level, you have to do the parapet before the roofing carcass, after the roofing carcass is the covering.

After the covering, is the pipping.
Plumbing and Electrical pipping, then;
Plastering,
Windows and doors installation along side the plastering, so u won't pay double price for dressing of windows and installing the frames of the doors.
Electrical Wiring
Plumbing Running
Ceiling (POP or PVC)
Electrical fitting
Plumbing fitting

This are bases before painting

The parapet comes first.
You must choose between concrete parapet casting and precast parapet.

They both have advantages and disadvantages.

There is nothing you can do. You have to roof it since it is bungalow but have it in mind that your building is not well plan. Another point the foundation plastering you did inside of German floor can not work in storey building.

Yeah It’s bungalow not storeybuilding . I actually can put it up for sale if indeed it will bring problems in future ..
i feel very bad that I didn’t do the German floor sha..

So there’s nothing to do to help the situation now right ??

Hello every one .. so I’ve been a ghost reader of this great forum for years , i had to register immediately, I stumbled on this thread this very morning , reading posts from November 2021 and something caught my attention..


I’m building a three bedroom and the foundation is high , the back is 6 blocks high, why the front is I think 3 or. 4 sha. Una engineer go don understand me.. I was advised to support it with double wall since the foundation is high, I did and I supported it round with strong pillars( 10,pillars ) . But then I never knew the important of German floor o ( note I’m not cutting costs, I just don’t know about it) .. The building has reached roofing level and I want to use Gerard roofing with casting parapet .. i don budget 3m-3.5m for Gerard, woods, and parapet , nails , transport , workmanship .. I want make the house high well well ..

U can also put me through about the cost of the roofing pls ..
The house na 3 bedroom two sitting room, dining, store, laundr, kitchen ,store and it’s very long building ,
I plan roofing the house towards the end of the year or early next year by God’s grace ..



Now that the house don reach roofing level , can I still do German floor ? If not what else can I do ? Pls tell me the bitter true no sugarcoat for me o. Hope I won’t have problem in the future if I don’t do it, although the area is ok and solid , the foundation is solid too, I’ve done the filling with laterite.. and there’s no history of damp in the area. But I’m the kind of person that if I hear something and after effect my mind go just Dey there no matter what ..

I didn’t use engineer. Na me be the mumu engineer and my bricklayer ( I know of three modern houses the guy built for my area and I’ve never heard say dem get issues na why I used the guy and he’s the one that built it from scratch to top)

I mould the blocks too but it was not enough , time no Dey so I had to buy to complete it ..

Pls people of god what I can I do at this stage o…..
