It was mistaken... Since you can easily locate Okposu via Ibaka than Ibeno, so the initial felt it belongs to Mbo..
It was later the confirm it was a ibeno.. So that award the Ibom Industrial city to Mbo..

That's how Sen. Akpabio told the team the area is volatile and hijacked the project to his Ukana home town, Ibiono Ibom lost out because of greed....
Now any project wey come na we de give free land, water, security,... Breaking down to why, let remember the name Ibom Deep Seaport came under Udom's tenure ..
Ibaka Deep Seaport was conceived and nurtured by the past administration of Akpabio’s as deliberate act to deceive Oro people for electoral purposes...

While site clearing was done, little did the people of Oro nation know that the seaport wasn't even approved by FEC or gotten a business case approvals...

During Udom electoral victory he promise to make Ibaka seaport a reality and stated filing for approvals and ticking it business case checklist of the propose Ibaka seaport..

Committee were setup which comprises of indigene of Oro nation and a Russian survey and consultation agency to conduct both business case an location viability of the propose Ibaka Deep Seaport..

Little did they know that the propose site was in Ibeno not Mbo where Ibaka is located..
The propose site is Okposu Island peninsula which comprises of Okposu 1 mainland (coastal village) and Okposo 2 (comprises of Okposo Islands) you can find them in the Map below..
So when this was made public that Ibaka didn't have a direct connection to the Atlantic ocean, that's facilitated the name change and that didn't go well with the Oro people as the begin to protest and sent all kinds of threats to the government and the good people of Ibeno ..
With this development they were rewarded with the construction of the propose Ibom Industrial city and NNPC industrial transportation centre..
It may interest you guys to know that the SSG to the state government, the Senator representing Akwa Ibom South senatorial district and the director of Ibom Deep Seaport a all from Oro nation inwhich Ibaka is part of it..

Though its sad but the Oro people especially Mbo should realise that the share same cultural values with obolo people of Ibeno and eastern obolo than any other part of Akwa Ibom state..
Ibaka(Mbo LGA) is bounded in the North by Orue Offiong Oroko, the west by Esit Eket, the east by a River linking it to both Cross River state and Cameroon and in the south by Okposu peninsula in Ibeno LGA...
So Ibaka has no direct link to the Atlantic ocean down south.. Though the requested that Ibaka should be dredge for the purpose but that's was ignored cos it would've affected Okposu Island 2..

Since the Ibom Deep Seaport will be sitted in Ibeno and the Ibom Industrial city will be sitted in Mbo, for this reason the name change was necessary since each wanted thier name to be used...
Early this year Ibeno high chief requested the name to be change from Ibom to Ibeno deep seaport, you can see attached for more on this..

So guys there is no Ibaka Deep Seaport.. It is now called Ibom Deep Seaport and its Industrial city both to be sitted in Ibeno and Mbo..

Ibom Deep Seaport is located in Okposo peninsula in ibeno while Ibom Industrial city is to be located in Ibaka in Mbo..
