Dude the op want to know if his S5 is fake or Original....

Some Chinese company like HDC and gophone can clone a phone for you with MTK SoC but fake the hardware information to match with the original one so that you can't differentiate between the original and the fake except with a software.

Original S5 as I know it comes in 2 variant Qualcomm and Exynos-based SOC

if you run the Test and it detects MTK Soc then it means it's fake.... So what's your problem bro?

If you have a PC download MTK DroidTools, connect your phone to your PC and run it... It will help you determine if it's a clone or not

You don't need all those cables or jaff box bro.....

What you just need is any original micro USB cable that can connect your phone to the PC (if you still have the original cable that came with your phone then you're good to go) if don't have if you can borrow from a friend who uses TECNO Android phone.

don't use the one that came with a charger that you bought from the market because some doesn't transfer data...

oyewolestephen: please my fellow andriod phone user i had a big problem with my rooted gionee e3..I install ifront from playstore into my phone and i reboot my phone but unfortunately my phone enter brick mode(doesnt boot anymore) i have tried resetting the phone by pressing volume key plus power key together but it doesnt work..then someone suggested maybe some file had been missing i proceed in downloading the file which is the latest official version 4.2.1..it was flashed with it but the engineer said it did not work, i tried other place still the same respond please what can i do, is there any additional method to unbrick my phone? am getting tired because is now up to 4weeks, or is the phones problem cant be solve...Any solution to the terrible problem will be highly appreciated.. I don't think the Engineer that told you he flashed it with the latest firmware and it still not working is telling you the truth ..

Probably he might have check the big file size (893MB) of the firmware and the amount you're going to pay him and it doesn't worth the stress to him...

I will suggest you do it yourself if you have access to a PC your own or friend... Or take it to another Engineer who can take the risk

flawless911: There's nothing fake about the P9's hardware sir.. The MT8389 is a variation of MT6589, but in this case the MT8389 is shipped for Tablets and the MT6589 for Phones.. Also, view dis CPU Identifier screenshot taken on my Gionee E3, u can see that MT6589 is written besides MT8389 because they're both exactly the same..


The MTK Droid Tool probably doesn't know or recognize the MT8389 hence calling it "fake"

If you read my topic very well... I said some phones/tablets-pcs are shipped with fake hardware
information. I.e on paper their specifications will be very tempting (great) but in reality, it is a different thing. For instance the HDC S4 Legend comes with
a fake " universal 5410 " cpu. But in reality its a MTK
6589 cpu. Which is uncertain in specifications

The same thing happened here: on paper TECNO claimed to use the MT8389 processor for its TECNO Phantom Pad P9 but in reality it's the MT6589.

I.e the MT8389 you think it powers your TECNO Phantom Pad Mini P9 is faked..... The real cup inside is MT6589

So am not saying that MT8389 is a fake CPU ok

Fellow Nigerians please beware of the numerous Chinese phone (eg TECNO, Infinix, oppson, innjoo, Huawei, GiONEE etc) flooding our country....

Some are mufactured with original hardware (with a certain spec), while some are manufactured with fake hardware (with uncertain spec)

I.e on paper their spec will be mouth watering but in reality their spec is a different story...

With MTK droidtool, you can detect if your phone hardware is genuine or fake.

How to use MTK DroidTool
1. Google for the latest version and download it to your PC
2. Connect your Android phone or Tablet and wait for it to be detected by your computer
3. After the necessary automatic installation, run the MTK DroidTool and wait for the response...

If you need a social networking phone go for BB (social networking phone does only half of what a smartphone does for you)

For the fact that BB side load small low profile Android apps doesn't mean it stands out to compare with Android... I installed TTPod and Google Now on my Q10 and it started hanging even though the apps doesn't work.

1. Apart from Android being a data consuming device BB is no match to any Android phone even TECNO Android phones

2. BB is never upgradable to Android but after updating to OS 10.2.1 it can be able to run some little Android Apps (note: it hangs after some few installation of Android app)

3. suggestion: If you don't have money to buy data for Android buy any GiONEE phone with MTK processor or Sony Xperia C and give it to a PRO in your area to change the IMEI to BB IMEI so that you can use your BIS on your Android

What does perfectly is BB with OS 10 and above (e.g Q10, Z10, Q5) I use Q10 with Glo BIS 1k for 3GB and it works perfectly though never tried it with other Network since Glo is the fastest Network in my AREA

If you don't have the money to buy a new BB OS devices, you can buy a fairly used

I wish there launch Note 8.4 or 10.1 2015 edition with Super AMOLED, finger print scanner and other goodies that comes with the Note 4
