SPAINFUL Barcelona ‘launch fire sale with EVERY player on transfer list except Messi and Ter Stegen’ amid financial crisis BARCELONA have reportedly made all but TWO of their players available for transfer. Unsuprisingly Lionel Messi won't be going anywhere, and he is joined by first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen But according to Mundo Deportivo, every other player is up for auction as the coronavirus crisis takes it's toll. The players at the Nou Camp have already agreed a 70 per cent pay cut as the pandemic rages. A Barca presidential candidate has previously declared that the club are heading towards "economic bankruptcy" as the war off the field goes on. Victor Font, leader of the Si Al Futur group - a fans' organisation literally translating as 'Yes To The Future', is just one of the names hoping to take the hot-seat when current incumbent Josep Maria Bartomeu steps down. And in an open letter, he described how the "risks have become gigantic". COUTINHO NIGHTMARE OVER? So in a bid to resolve expected economic turmoil, players are likely to be shipped out around Europe this summer. The biggest movers could be record signings Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, made available in swap deals according to The Telegraph. Former Liverpool star Coutinho joined the Nou Camp side for £142million two years ago. Ex-Borussia Dortmund playmaker Dembele made the switch for £124.5m. That's £267m worth of talent up for grabs. Juventus are reported to be in advanced talks to sign Arthur, dubbed by some as the next Xavi. And the Catalans could swap FOUR players to bring Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana in. .Back-up keeper Neto along with youngsters Riqui Puig, Alex Collado or Carles Alena could head out in a deal for the Cameroonian. Barca boss Quique Setien will need to have a clear out to raise funds for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and Barca old-boy Neymar. Each would be expected to cost over £100million. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/11505305/barcelona-transfer-coutinho-dembele-messi-ter-stegen/ |

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu tested negative for the COVID-19 virus on Monday. Tinubu and a retinue of his aides had to go for the test following the sudden death of his Chief Security Officer, Lateef Raheem. The Late Raheem tested positive for the virus after NCDC officials took samples from his body before burial. Although news of the Jagaban’s negative status was received with much applause, a section of Nigerians expressed doubt on social media, speculating that there was not enough evidence to prove that the long-time politician did indeed take the test. However, on Wednesday, POLITICS NIGERIA obtained an image of the former senator relaxing as an NCDC official took samples from him for a test. His wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu also tested negative for the novel virus. https://politicsnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/tinubu-covid.jpg Above is a picture of Tinubu taking Coronavirus test. |

In view of the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic to the economy of Ekiti State, Governor Kayode Fayemi has reduced the salaries of political appointees by 50 per cent. Affected by this policy is the governor himself, his Deputy, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, and other appointed members of his cabinet. But the policy will not affect civil servants in the state. This was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua, on Tuesday. The statement said: “Consequent upon the ravaging effects of the Covid-19 scourge, the global economy has been severely affected, with the depression affecting Nigeria as a nation and expectedly, our dear Ekiti State. “As a responsive and responsible government, the Fayemi-led administration has taken stock of our financial situation, vis-a-vis our constantly decreasing receipts from the federation account, as well as our dwindling internally generated revenue (IGR), and has been forced to wake up to the current realities of our fiscal position. “With promises made to the Ekiti people while seeking their mandate, coupled with the moral duty of improving their welfare, a time for making difficult decisions is at hand, and make them we must. “In light of the foregoing, His Excellency, Governor John Kayode Fayemi has directed that salaries of all political appointees in the state, will be slashed by 50%, with immediate effect. “Savings from this pay cut will be channelled into the execution, and completion of developmental projects in the state, as hitherto planned. The pay cut will affect the governor himself, the deputy governor, and all political appointees down the line. Salaries of civil servants will not be affected by this directive, and shall maintain status quo.” Olumilua said the sacrifice is for the welfare of the Ekiti people, which should take pre-eminence over and above all other considerations. “Your patriotism, patience, and co-operation, is highly appreciated at all times,” he said. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2020/04/28/covid-19-fayemi-slashes-own-deputy-political-appointees-salaries-by-50/ |

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has extended the lockdown order in the state by another 30 days. The governor’s decision followed a recommendation by the State Standing Committee on COVID-19, which is chaired by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe. The extension took effect yesterday. This was contained in a statement signed by Muyiwa Adekeye, Special Adviser to the Governor (Media & Communication). The statement read: “Malam Nasir El-Rufai has endorsed this evaluation and has accordingly reviewed the Quarantine Orders to strengthen the provisions against unauthorised movements. ‘’The two-day window during which the restriction of movement is relaxed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays has been reduced to only one day. Henceforth, only Wednesdays will be lockdown-free, until the trajectory of COVID-19 infections becomes clearer. All persons that venture out of their homes for whatever reason must wear facemasks and observe social distancing everywhere they go, in markets and in authorised vehicles. ‘’Government is making efforts to provide facemasks for poor and vulnerable residents, and it appeals to everyone that can afford it to get their tailors to make them cloth facemasks which they can wash after every use. ‘ ’The government also encourages tailors to produce facemasks for sale to those that are neither poor nor vulnerable. ‘’Wearing of facemasks will be robustly enforced as a critical public health measure to reduce person-to-person transmission.” The state government said the measures announced on 26th March 2020, to contain COVID-19 remained in force and had been renewed.
