@enkaydewdrop I also got married last year as a virgin @ 36. The sex thing is not my thing too but hubby said if I'm not doing it that delivery will be very painful and that baby will find it difficult to pass through. So for their sake (himself and baby) I do every method he brings both front and back. I have a very low threshold for pain but I'll give everything to have a vaginal delivery episiotomy and all. If I opt for an elective cs because of fear of anything it might be difficult to revert to vbac. For me whatever it takes its vaginal delivery except my doctor advises otherwise.

A big thank you to all our fashionista mamas @ goldenruby, zaynie, limsycutey and olubankemi. I also learnt a lot.

Anyway this is just to let you know that I finally got married this year to the same guy (funny). Yea I walked down that aisle as a virgin at the age of 36. What a dream come true. Glory be to God. As many that are seriously believing God for their own husbands and wives: It is done. Nothing is too difficult for my God.

Ok ma... i've made up my mind to prepare for Jamb next yr nd fill in for mirobiology.Cos the opportunity to lecture with a higher degree in this course is more and fascinating. But ma, does MCB involve alot of chemistry? cos im not so gud at chemistry.

You'll likely take chemistry and biochemistry courses in your year 1 to 3.

Hello sir, i equally want to be a lecturer im passionate about it... And im currently anNCE Student, pls sir, which course should i major in to improve my chances of getting a lecturer position or even a graduate assistant for a start?? Am at cross roads choosing between an educational course like Bsc(ed) Biology or a non educational course like Bsc Microbiology.

It's not about the course you studied it's about acquiring additional certificates like PGDE (Post Graduate Diploma in Education) if you studied a 'non-educational course', M.Sc and PhD with God's help the sky is your starting point.

Can we share some of the problems we encountered or still encountering and how to tackle them or better still how we handled them?
As for me I think time and resources (finance/instrumentation) were my major challenges.
If one is combining the program with a job, then time not money might be an issue, but if one decides to forget about job then one may run out of money especially if one is self sponsored.
Solution: Look for fellowships/scholarships, sandwich or full time there are so many of them online. I did that and it helped.
One more thing I guess it's easier to get (sandwich) if you are already in an institution as a scientist/researcher/lecturer e.t.c

What is MCH? A professional course is a course you can practice when you graduate like law, medicine, medical lab, physiotherapy, optometry, dentistry, teaching (NCE, BEd), Engr, Journalism (Mass Com), Theater arts, pharmacy, nursing etc On graduation, you get the license to practice. Like I said before after 1st degree one can always go for professional trainings /certificate courses with that one can practice any course these days.

It all depends on what you want to be in life. I always wanted to be a lecturer (mission accomplished), so I could have studied any course provided I continue to at least PhD (which I did). If you want to work in the hospital/lab then go for SLT/MCB/BCH + NISLT. If you want to be in the industrial sector then Chemistry is better. But if you have people in high places then study any course, you can get any job. All things being equal professional courses are better (BCH/MCB r not professional courses) but u can always take certificate courses to professionalize. Get additional certificate(s), beside 1st degree and u'll always have advantage over others (all things being equal).

Chemistry is better than MCB and BCH while MCB is better than BCH but you can go for BCH if you really wanted medicine but couldn't get it.

B.Sc Microbiology doesn't make one a microbiologist. It means you studied Microbiology. It takes getting @ least a PhD in Microbiology for one to call oneself a Microbiologist (so I was told by one Prof in an interview I attended with my M.Sc Microbiology certificate).

It does, at B.Sc level u r just a Microbiologist @ most. You have not specialized in any area but you can be a lab assistant/technologist though.

^^^ You'll have to go for internship in medical lab (NISLT) or M.Sc Medical Microbiology to be certified/qualify for a job as a medical microbiologist. Your B.Sc Microbiology does not really qualify you for that.

As for the branch of MCB to go for in M.Sc, it depends on the one you were better at during your undergraduate days.

The length of M.Sc depends on your school, but then if you really want to go for M.Sc the best bet is to start, the earlier you start, the earlier you finish.
