Dear all,

Please I want to know. Between Oregon and Florida where would you advice someone seeking for admission to go to for studies. University of Oregon and Florida State university particularly? Anybody studying there or have attempted to study there? I have looked through the net but I need opinion of people who have been to the USA/ have first hand experience. Am considering two schools there and the tuition are reasonably okay. Looking at cost of living and where I can find a lot of people sharing my colour . Thanks everyone

I Think I spotted you yesterday. You had your glasses on and all. I could hear your conversation from where I stood. Congratulations by the way".
Having read through this thread for about a week and seen all the reject stories, I say to myself "Nah, some of these transcripts are made up". I guess I was wrong judging from what I experienced yesterday. I could hear a lotta people speak from across the hall and I would just know that they would be rejected. (I would deny them myself if I were the VO).

Preparation cannot be overemphasized.
How can the VO ask "Why Software engineering" and you say "Cos I love the computer"
VO: "what do you love about the computer?
Guy:"I have seen that Nigeria has a lot of issues with Internet connection and software applications......" (I froze at this point)

It's obvious lots of people just want "The Great Escape".

I may be wrong here but I think about 60% of the rejects/denial are well deserved and self inflicted. Apart from you, all other F1 applicants ahead of me were denied yesterday (Including the lady that applied to GGU).

I ain't leaving out the place of luck & God but in all, you gotta play the part. Most folks ain't doing that. It's obvious to tell.

Congrats once again!!!!

I should post my transcript too.

Your position might be right except for the fact that I was denied yesterday. Hey my interview held last week. Stop speculating biko

Personally, I think you had issues when you said your Elder sister will be Paying for your studies !! its wasn't convincing enough at all ! A married woman depending on your Elder sister is not strong enough ! What of your Husband and co ?

I think that was the major reason why you where denied not because of the school .The interview was going well before you threw everything away ! My advice try again and find a better reason !!

My advice

Thanks for your observation. I also thought as much too considering the fact that everybody mustn't attend an IVY league university. Please house I want to ask,is it adviceable to reapply using the same school and using my spouse as sponsor or wait till spring and get another school( probably a higher ranked school)

Am also looking at one exchange program for human right lawyers by next year.(J1 visa) . Would I look desperate jumping from environmental law to human rights law. Both though are LLM programs. Please I need your thoughts on this. Thanks alot

Your sevis fee is valid for a year from the date you paid.I'm not sure about getting admission for fall18 in your desired program bc most schools admission has passed its application deadline date for fall. You still have option to apply for spring with a better institution so your sevis fee would still be valid for spring 19

Thanks so much,it was still in search of spring admission that landed me into choosing this school Most schools that offer LLM on environmental law run on fall terms,I rarely see spring. I was supposed to go on spring this year but couldn't get a date for visa appointment last year November

Visa denied. Lagos. Post 2. 6am
Interview lasted for about 6 to 7 minutes

Me: Good morning
VO: no answer, pass me your passport and I 20
Me: Gave her

VO: why did you choose this school?
Me: I chose GGU because GGU has this curriculum that suits my career goals in this sense that offer students this environmental law and justice clinic whereby students get to work under attorneys and other US agencies(names one agency) while they study gaining rich practical experience on environmental Law. Then secondly GGU offered me a merit scholarship of 18000 dollars ( She was just starring at me)

VO: which program are you going for?

Me: masters degree on environmental Law

VO: (Cuts in) LLM on environmental law so what will this degree do for you?

Me: This degree upon my return to Nigeria will score me a job as legal officer with Nigerian Federal Environmental Protection Agency, then secondly when you look at PORT Harcourt where I live, there's a lot of ongoing environmental pollution cases and most of these victims are masses who can't afford to pay a lawyer,so I intend to set up a service oriented NGO in ph where these victims could be offered free access to justice and I believe that a good knowledge of this course will go a long way in equipping me.

VO:How many schools did you apply to?

Me 3 schools

VO: what's your highest qualification?

Me: BL... Barrister at Law

VO: Are you married
Me: Sure am married

VO: Any children?

Me: Yes I have one child,a son

VO: who is paying the rest of the tuition:

Me: My elder sister(calls her name)

VO: why did you chose this sponsor?
Me: Because she's been the one paying my tuition since secondary, university and Law school, she's like a mother to me

VO: sorry I won't....(hands me a blue paper and my passport

Me: Thanks

Please the gurus in this house should help me look at this, add or subtract where applicable. I actually prepared well for my interview and my interest is a bit dampened which is not too good for me.
I have a virgin passport which I have had since January 2014.

I am looking at reapplying but don't know what to state as the reason for the previous denial/what has changed in my application. I wouldn't also mind a mock Please help a sister

And if am to reapply, please what's the appropriate thing to state as reason for my previous denial?

GGU is an unranked school that was a red flag to the VO. maybe if you had applied to a better school you would have had a better chance of approval

Thanks for the observation,I never knew about this anyway. Now what are the chances of getting another admission and I20 and still making it this fall? I wouldn't want my sevis fee payment to expire

You will need to click on reply and I would love to see your transcripts too, and how old do you have your passport too?

Thanks I have had my passport since January 2014 and it's actually a virgin passport. Please does the age of a passport have anything to do with issuance of visa? I would glad if we go private. I will share my transcripts later. Thanks so much

financial constrains for $500 , except if that not the exact words used .........The school would think if $500 is a struggle which is chicken change compared to a school fees, then this person is not serious

but yes , i probably would write to the school asking for their refund policy if visa is not given then you know what risk you are willing to take [/quote]
