mimilyrics:
1. You don't need a newspaper publication; your wedding certificate (in addition to other evidence) is okay to show marital links for your T4 visa and you're not required to change your name after marriage.
2. I guess you mean tier 4. Using your maiden name won't be an obstacle.
3. You'd need to show that the funds you require have been held in your account in the manner specified by UKVI. Finding a job ASAP will be dependant on your location; sometimes, it takes more than a month to find a job. Even if you do find a job as soon as you arrive, it will only be just enough for your bills/maintenance. Making enough money before your tuition payment deadline will be difficult on a 20-hour minimum wage job plus you'd be too worried about your fees to be able to effectively engage with your course.

If you get a minimum wage (£8.72) job, you'll be making 174.4 per week and £697.6 per month minus rent and bills of about £290-450 (assuming you get a room in a shared house inclusive of bills) plus estimated food and transport costs of about £150 and have just about £50 leftover per month which is not even close to a quarter of what your outstanding fees will be.

Thanks for the reply. Meanwhile we have only wedded in Catholic Church, does marriage certificate issued by Catholic Church suffice? Alternatively, if no, Marriage certificate Issued by a local government, does it suffice as well?

Hello all,

Please I have question to ask for those of that live/study in the UK.

Firstly, i got admission in the university of Liverpool, and would want to travel with my spouse For study. My passport is still bearing my maiden name, though I have done the newspaper publication for change of name. I want to know if it will raise a red flag or not or should I just renew the passport? I got married in 2016,and renewed my passport last year in my maiden name

Secondly, if I’m not traveling with him as a third tier dependent, will using a passport bearing my maiden name be an obstacle of any sort?

Thirdly, I am not so buoyant but can pay my initial tuition deposit, and the deposit to be made upon arrival, is England a place one can possibly get a job and foot her other bills?

Thanks for your anticipated response.

Biko has anyone successfully transferred sevis record from one school to another while in Nigeria after a visa denial? Can you please tell me how I can go about this without paying another sevis fee? I was denied visa and want to reapply for spring to another school. The school I want to apply to asked me to get my previous school to transfer the sevis record to them. Now I got this mail from the previous school. Who would help out if it's something possible? I wouldn't want to pay another sevis fee. I don't even have the funds at the moment.

Im guessing Portland Oregon. It has a huge variation in affordability which depends on which part you choose to live in........

Lents, Brentwood-Darlington is going to be most affordable. If you're looking for something closer then Kenton, Creston-Kenilworth, and Woodstock can be cheaper options.

Oregon is Relatively affordable when Compared to San Francisco, CA

Lewis & Clark isn't ? A better Choice for an Environmental law program grin

Portland Eugene

I remember your username. I just want to point something out to you. If you think repplying for a visa with a "ranked" school will guarantee your visa, I'm afraid you need a really good reality check. You will still have to work for your visa.

If you're asked why you changed to XYZ university in Oregon and all you can say is "it is a ranked school", it's just another futile effort. What's my point? If you're trying to get into other schools, this is the time to start asking yourself what you want, why you really want them and do your research and continue learning how to prepare for interviews.

Moving on, cost of living depends on so many factors. Like in any state, not all cities are the same so, where your school is/you'd live could be factors too. Oregon is a relatively expensive state to live in but remember: sometimes, the cheapest things in life aren't the cheapest. Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma are cheap states but there are so many places in these states you wouldn't wanna live in as a foreigner.

Don't rush any decision, wait for the next session and spend time preparing. Make better decisions and be self critical. Don't let your future be decided by a random, faceless person in another place like me and others here lol because in the end, you'll be the one to live with your decisions.

Always go for what's best for YOU, not what someone thinks would be best for them. I wish you the best.

I always love reading your replies. Thanks so much. Please can you permit me to chat you in private? Please. There's a lot of things I would love to share with you as regards my preparations. I have made up my mind to go for Spring. Please

Oregon is not too cheap but affordable depending on what you mean by average. However, it's extremely cold there.

Thanks for the reply. Please between Oregon and San Francisco California which is cheaper?

Hello everyone.

I want to know, how adviseable is it to be denied visa with an unranked school's I20 and refiring almost immediately with a ranked school? Should I just reapply or wait till the next session? How affordable is living at Oregon for an average student because the school am looking at now is located there?. I need opinions and practical experience if possible. Thanks all

Hello house

Please can valid sevis fee receipt be transferred from one school to another? I was denied visa and am planning to reapply this spring to another school, upon my inquiry, the school official said I would have to pay another sevis fee. The one I previously paid for will expire this November and am planing to go for another visa interview by September or October. Do I have a case here my people?

It seems that students that were denied in the last six months have not been able to book appointments. Let's just be hopeful that the development will improve in the coming weeks.

Goodluck!

Thanks for this update. I just someone to verify it

Are you trying to reapply with another school at the space of few months?
Can you defend your reason for change if school at that space of months?

if you can then you can refire, all you just need is to check up on your loopholes at your last interview and fill them up.

As for availability of datr for next month, check through the site constantly you might be lucky.

All the best. Cheers

Yes I am. I confirmed on the net that the school I previously applied to has no rank. So am looking at going for another interview better prepared with a school of top rank hoping I get favored. I seem confused by the day. Also want to conform the authenticity of the statement that once denied, one can't really within 6 month of the previous denial. Thanks

Hello all. Good day. Please i need help. I was denied visa sometime this month and I have made up my mind to forget about this fall and go for spring 2019 admission. One of the schools I want to apply to just replied my mail informing me I can resume this fall, the school is of top rank too. I have all documents handy but my fear is *getting an appointment between now and June or first week of July latest* . Please who have been denied this period that wanted/want to reapply? Any success with the reapplication? I wouldn't want to be asked to pay another seat deposit to secure a deferral into Spring session next year. I just wish to know if I can secure another appointment for Fall by first week of June. Is there anyway I can check? I need answers please. Thanks everyone

Hello house.

Greetings.

Please I want to know, when we talk about top schools in the USA for the purpose of visa application,do we also consider this in relation to the proposed course of study and the school ranking for that particular course or just the overall academic ranking of the entire school?

For instance,I have come across some top environmental law schools and when I also checked the list of top law schools in the USA,some schools that made the first 5 on the environmental law list made the 60th plus position on the list of top law school list. Biko for the purpose of visa application, should I go for top school or the one at the top when it comes to my course of study?

If you're concern about skin color, you should stay with Florida but the most important for an international student is tuition and living expenses... (I will go with the cheap and ok one). Oregon may be cheaper than Florida depending on where you're going for studies. Regards job prospects after school, your course of studies will determine which state will be best for you..... you can always move (I've moved from my original state to where I'm now). Regards weather, Florida is warm and calm with no snow.

Thanks for being so helpful. Course of study is environmental law. LLM
