Foreign Affairs › Donald Trump: I May Spend $1billion On Campaign If Necessary by nyol(op): 6:11am On Aug 16, 2015 |
Donald Trump, yesterday reiterated that he may spend $1 billion on his presidential campaign if necessary. Donald Trump who is seeking for the number one position in America is ready to put in his own share of cash. This he said because he doesn't want to be controlled as "puppet" taking out on erstwhile Florida's governor Jeb Bush's $100 million dollars fund.
However. Donald Trump claims to worth $10 billion personally and also claim to make $400 million yearly. Donald Trump's campaign mantra has been to make "America great" and he's not stopping at anything to achieve that. Evidently he is capable of running the campaign personally with his financial portfolio. He has on record donated to several candidates in the past which includes the front runner of Democrats - Hillary Clinton.
However he still have hurdles to scale before he clinches the seat of power in America. Although currently leading by 22% with the close runner up 14%, he needs to clinch the ticket of the Republican Party. However Mr Trump has reiterated that he'll always keep door open perhaps he's not treated fairly enough. In America there is room for independent candidature.
However with his stern position on migrants especially Mexican migrants; creation of jobs by bringing back manufacturing companies to America, love for women and children. Will he be able to make it to the top? Will he be favorable turning down lobbyist request like he turned down $5 million? Will he be able to stand criticism shots fired at him? It will soon be determined by the populace. http://ghemedia.com/donald-trump-i-may-spend-1billion-on-campaign-if-necessary/ |
Politics › Rehabilitation In Nigeria Sometimes Is An Ambiguous Word. by nyol(op): 11:49pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
Sometimes ago, I discovered the government of Oyo state did add asphaltic layer (overnight) to the town section of the federal road A1 that ran through Ogbomoso town. A lecturer evidently commended him that its a public oriented policy. However, I came around less than a year and saw that some sections have been worse than before. My observation was that points where heavy duty trailers slow down turned out to be the most affected region. This simply shows that our roads are currently over burdened by design. However a good rehabilitation work by Mr. Governor did not yield a good result at the long run. My little journey through the northern axis is in a very bad state especially some pats of Niger state. However what of Eastern roads that are washed away by erosion. Do we continue to add asphalt and get an uneven surface of road . Or we repair and erosion washes away what we've done Or we don't see the influence of FERMA in some part of the country at all I really hope our lawmakers while calling for rehabilitation, also look into underlying factors that will not make their efforts look futile. Members of the House of Representatives have called for the immediate rehabilitation of federal roads across the country.
The Lawmakers entertained complaints as some motion were brought to the House during plenary on Thursday 13th, August 2015 by members who expressed dissatisfaction on the current condition of federal roads.
Hon. Igariwey Iduma Enwo representing Afikpo North/South Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State was the first to move the motion, exposing that the Abakaliki/Afikpo road linking Ebonyi to neighboring States is seriously in need of rehabilitation.
He said that the road has suffered years of neglect and has remained in a bad condition to the discomfort of its users. He prayed the House to interface with the Federal Ministry of Works in order to ensure that the road is repaired.
In a related development, Hon. Shehu Saleh of Rijau/Magama Federal Constituency of Niger State mooted the need for the completion of the reconstruction being carried out on Kontagora-Rijau-Tungun Magajiya road.
He asserted that the road is of great economic and social value to both the people of Niger and Kebbi States. He prayed the House to urge the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to adopt an interim measure to rehabilitate the road and once again make it easily accessible.
Similarly, Hon. Rita Orji, representing Ajeromi/Ifelodun1 Federal Constituency of Lagos State has called the attention of the House to the need to refurbish the Ojora-Ajegunle-Apapa Federal Highway. She pointed out that the highway is a major supply route to the Tin-Can port, which she stressed is strategic to the nation’s economy. She appealed to the House to urge the Federal Ministry of Works and FERMA to urgently embark on the restoration of the highway as well as the reactivation of the street lights. source: http://ghemedia.com/reps-lawmakers-demands-rehabilitation-federal-roads/ |

This story indeed baffles me The popular and controversial saying that 'what a man can do a woman can do better' is further proved as many Nigerian women have in recent times joined the tricycle business (popularly called "keke maruwa" in Lagos).
28 year old Deborah Sani is not just a female tricycle rider who plies the Ikeja-Toyin Street in Lagos, but also a trained teacher who obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in 2009 from the former Federal College of Education Zaria, now Federal University of Education, Zaria and also currently undergoing a Diploma Program at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
When asked what led her into the business, she said, "when you compare the income from this job and any other job I could have been doing right now because I'm a qualified teacher. Teaching job if they will pay you N20,000, they will think they are paying you so well. Even if they will pay you N30,000 they feel it's a better job you are doing. But from this I can easily keep that amount as savings not as earnings."
She added that the need to save and not just to earn led her to make enquiries regarding the business as well as embarking on training with a volunteer keke driver.
Derby as she is fondly called said, "I got to realise that the jobs you do and you get your earnings daily seem to be far more lucrative than the usual corporate jobs. So when someone mentioned the idea that I don't even need capital to start it, I just need to know how to operate it. So I started looking for a trainer."
Deborah, who is still single, got someone who decided to teach her for one hour daily and she learnt the skill after about 8 lessons. According to her, she makes a daily savings of about 2000 with extra to cater for her needs.Trained Female Teacher Turns Keke Driver She said, "After settling all levies, buy petrol, oil and making daily accounts to the keke owner, I make not less than N3,000 of which I save N2,000 and spends N1,000 on daily needs."
Deborah Sani calls on the unemployed youths to be flexible when seeking for employment. She said, "they should not concentrate on one particular direction when they are looking for a job. Like saying I want to work in a school, I want to work in an office. You are narrowing your opportunities and some of these office jobs, these monthly paid employment, they might not pay you enough because come to think of it you might get a job now that will take you to the Island and you will discover that at the end of each day you spend close to a thousand or more daily. Tell me how such a person can save anything."
A tricycle ticket vendor in Ikeja, Lagos who pleaded anonymity said one of the problems Keke Drivers encounter in the business is insatiable passengers.
He noted that this problem is not peculiar to female gender, as some male counterparts also encounter same.
"Most of them (keke riders) are graduates. The challenges are the same for both genders. One of your passengers can decide to withhold his or her fare because you didn't stop where he/she wants you to even when that place is not a bus stop."
He opined that the business requires patience just like other businesses and encouraged more women and ladies to join them. http://ghemedia.com/lagos-trained-female-teacher-turns-keke-driver/ |

Food › How To Cook Ewa Adalu: Corn And Beans; I Bet Some People Can Relate With This by nyol(op): 9:54pm On Aug 14, 2015 |
So, corn is in over here and I’m sure most of you have had a taste of it, either roasted or boiled. However, how many have actually had it as your main meal? Well, it’s pretty easy really. Just cook a pot of beans and add corn…voilà! you’ve got adalu. (hahaha… kidding!) Honestly, it isn’t all that hard to cook once your’e able to follow these steps and believe me, the results will be so worth it. Ingredients Beans (oloyin preferably) Corn (fresh or canned sweet corn) Tatashe (red bell pepper) Rodo (habarena pepper / scotch bonnet) Onion Salt Palm oil Olive oil or Groundnut oil Seasoning cube Your timing will depend on the quantity of food you’re cooking. Preparation Once your beans has been rid of stones, shells and other unwanted particles, rinse and pour into a pot of hot water Slice 1/2 of the onion into the cooking beans Crush your seasoning cube into the mix and allow boil till the beans is well cooked Tip: cook with moderate amount of water so the beans doesn’t get mushy or runny. Also, some people add seasoning towards the end of their cooking but I like to add it at the beginning so its mixes properly with the beans. Blend your tatashe, rodo and the remaining onions (no tomatoes) Now, here’s the twist. If your’re using canned sweet corn, you can move on to the next stage. However if your’e using fresh corn, you should have shucked the corn first (i.e. remove from husk and silk) and boiled till it’s soft before adding beans. When your beans is soft enough ( make sure there’s still some water left in it), add the pepper, corn and salt to taste. Stir and allow to boil. Stir your mix and taste for salt and seasoning. Once you’re OK with it, add a scoop of olive oil or groundnut oil and palm oil. Stir and allow to boil for another 5 minutes. Tip: heat the palm oil separately before adding to the porridge. This is because sometimes, palm oil leaves an after-taste in the mouth some find unpleasant. Food is ready! https://ghemedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/Adalu-Nigeria.jpg |

Many poor people are left to rot in awaiting trial. I may not agree with you because Oscar might have spent all his earnings on hiring his lawyer. Its a high profile case. Most times people awaiting trial needs help by loved ones so they can access services that can relieve them. So many have OVERSUFFERED. The most important prayer of we should not fall a victim |
