Okon ikott: Public officers should learn to give simple explanation to newsstories concerning them or their office than jump into castigating and abusing the reporter in all manner of descriptives. When they behave this way, they simply confirm to Nigerians that the allegation is true. The case of Madam Ekwesileze is still recent where the FG instead of replying her with facts and data, went in search of assault missiles to fire her on a matter that is of public interest, definitely not the President's private affair. I think the NUJ, if this body exists for the profession, should come up with measures that will discourage public officers from abusing her members who were merely performing their duty. Maybe, NUJ should charge this David Mark's media officer to court for defamation and libel to teach others a lesson. Our leaders govern with lies and when they are caught in their falsehood, they react wildly with further lies.

thelastPope: Aturu has delivered a masterpiece here! This is what some of us have been saying all along. Every Nigerian politician should be subjected to the same standard of criticism. But somehow, the opposition, especially the ACN, somehow believe they are immune to criticism and accountability. When we raise any Fashola threads, they come in their multiple pseudo names to insult us. They don't even address the topic. They quickly turn the thread into a tribal bashing thread!

Like someone wrote up there, they confuse democratic leadership for traditional stools. They should learn the basics of democracy. Everyone must be accountable, including Fashola and Tinubu. You cannot be telling us all what to do in 2012. Government decisions must be subject to public scrutiny else we are back to dictatorship just like the military era.

This is the issue with the okada ban and several other policies of LASG. When government assumes it knows the problem of the people more than the people themselves, it becomes a dictatorship. That is what everyone is suffering in Lagos right now. Unprecedented traffic, like has never been seen in Lagos before. Sometimes, it is total lockdown for hours and someone came to this forum to celebrate 30 new buses! I almost fell off my seat laughing and my laughter quickly turned into anger. The BRT doesn't even serve 1/100 of Lagos transport needs. BRT and intercity buses are only available on a few routes. So when someone celebrates 30 new buses, it is just ridiculous.

The governor should begin to address the needs of the people, not an imaginary mega city idea. People live in cities, cities don't live in people! If you want a mega city, develop mega people!
